Reina Tellez Returns to the Ring Following World Title Challenge Against Amanda Serrano

LAS VEGAS, NV (May 18, 2026) — Boxlab Promotions WBA #11 ranked featherweight contender, Reina Tellez (13-1-1, 5 KOs) is set to return to action on May 30, 2026, when she competes in a scheduled eight-round bout against Juliana Basualdo (14-7, 3 KOs) at the El Paso County Coliseum in El Paso, Texas. The event will be part of a card presented by Most Valuable Promotions and marks Tellez’s first appearance since stepping up on short notice to face multi-division world champion Amanda Serrano in a world title opportunity that provided invaluable experience early in her career.

Despite suffering the first loss of her professional journey, Tellez emerged from the fight with renewed confidence, perspective, and motivation as she continues her climb in the featherweight division. Tellez reflected on the lessons gained from sharing the ring with one of the sport’s elite champions on short notice.

“Facing Amanda Serrano taught me more in one fight than I could have imagined,” Tellez said. “Stepping into that moment as a late replacement forced me to grow mentally and professionally. I learned the importance of preparation at the championship level, staying composed under pressure, and believing in myself regardless of the circumstances. Even in defeat, I gained experience that will help shape the rest of my career.”

Now returning to fight in her home state, Tellez says the opportunity carries personal significance and added motivation.

“There’s always something special about fighting in Texas,” Tellez continuedf. “The support, the culture, and the energy from the fans make it feel personal. This is where so much of my journey has taken place, and to come back here after a fight like the Serrano bout means a lot to me. I’m excited to show everyone how much I’ve grown.”

With momentum and experience on her side, Tellez views this upcoming fight as an important step toward larger opportunities in the division.

“A strong win here keeps me moving forward toward bigger fights and another world title opportunity,” Tellez concluded. “I’m still learning, still improving, and still hungry. The Serrano fight gave me confidence that I belong on that level, and now it’s about continuing to build and proving I belong with the best. I know Basualdo will be coming with everything she’s got, and I’ll be ready.”

Amaury Piedra, President of Boxlab Promotions, believes the experience against Serrano accelerated Tellez’s development and positioned her for long-term success.

“Reina gained invaluable experience by stepping into the ring with a fighter of Amanda Serrano’s caliber,” Piedra said. “Not every young fighter is willing to embrace that kind of challenge, especially on short notice. What impressed me most was her composure, her willingness to compete, and the way she handled herself throughout the entire experience. Those moments build character and maturity. We strongly believe that experience will elevate her career and prepare her for major opportunities moving forward.”

Former unified world champion Yesica Nery Plata has ruled the light flyweight division as WBA and WBC unified world champion. Since turning pro in ?2011, she steadily climbed the ranks, winning the WBC Youth title in 2012 and defending it multiple times before stepping into world-level clashes. In March ?2022, Plata began her title run, dethroning longtime champion Yésica Bopp via split decision to claim the WBA title at 108lbs, ending Bopp’s 13-year reign with strong body work and well?timed left hooks. Her defining moment within the division came in January?2023 in Canada, where she successfully unified the WBA and WBC belts by defeating home favorite Kim Clavel in a fierce ten?round war—dictating the pace to earn a unanimous decision in what many hailed as one of the standout women’s fights of the year. She capped off her dominance with a successful split?decision title defense against undefeated Sarah Bormann in Karlsruhe, Germany in ?December?2023. Following a layoff, Plata return to the ring under the Most Valuable Promotions banner recognized as one of the top pound-for-pound women’s boxers in the world and is currently ranked #4 by the WBC, #6 by the WBO and WBA, and #3 by ESPN at 108lbs.

“I want to thank my fans for their support and for following my career, and most importantly, to my promoter MVP, to Jake Paul, Nakisa Bidarian, and everyone that works for the company for making all of this possible,” said Yesica Nery Plata. “You all know that team Plata is a guarantee for a good show, see you soon!”

Brook Sibrian, from Coachella, California earned the nickname “Mighty” during a national tournament. After becoming a first-generation college graduate and building a career at the Wall Street Journal, Brook discovered the sport through a fitness boxing class at 26 and fell for it immediately. What began as a hobby became a calling, giving her structure, discipline, purpose, and a deeper relationship with God. She compiled a 22-3 amateur record, won two USA Boxing National Championships, and represented El Salvador at the 2023 Central American Games. Early in her career, she trained alongside her idol Román “Chocolatito” González across multiple camps, which accelerated her development and shaped her foundation as an intelligent, high-output pressure fighter and boxer-puncher.

“God is so good! I’m feeling extremely grateful and excited to show the world who this small, but Mighty underdog is,” said Brook Sabrian. “Tune in on Saturday, May 30 on ESPN+ and don’t miss the show! Thank you MVP and my incredible team for making this possible!”

Reina Tellez, a Team USA veteran who took up boxing in 2012, quickly established herself among the elites of the amateur scene. Her accolades include winning gold at the 2015 and 2017 National Junior Olympics, winning the 2018 National Golden Gloves championship, and back-to-back silver medals at the 2018 and 2019 National Junior Olympics. After making her pro debut in 2021–the lone technical draw on her record–she returned to boxing in 2023 and began her rise, winning her next three bouts by TKO. In June 2024, Tellez defeated Hungarian prospect Beata Dudek on the undercard of Gervonta Davis vs Frank Martin in Las Vegas. Just three weeks later in July 2024, Tellez successfully outpointed Wendellin Cruz to win the vacant WBC Youth featherweight title by unanimous decision, before dropping down to win the NABF super bantamweight and bantamweight titles later that year. The 22-year-old Tellez, of Irish-Mexican heritage, most recently faced Amanda Serrano for the unified WBA and WBO world titles in January 2026, with Serrano winning by decision. She resides in San Antonio, Texas and is represented by Boxlab Promotions.

Born in El Paso and raised in Northside Houston, Texas by a hard-working Mexican-American family, 24-year-old Miranda Reyes has built her professional career facing some of the sport’s most respected names, including MVP’s unified lightweight world champion Caroline Dubois and MVP’s WBA lightweight world champion Stephanie Han. Reyes turned pro at 17 without an amateur background, guided by former trainer Hector Rocha, whose belief in her talent and style shaped her confidence until his passing from COVID-19 in 2020. Since, Reyes has consistently given world champions tough tests despite limited guidance, including defeating Hall of Famer Jaime Clampitt in 2022 and former world champion Yazmin Rivas in 2023, before challenging Caroline Dubois for the IBO lightweight title at Wembley Stadium in 2024 and now-WBA world champion Stephanie Han later that year. Reyes recently found structure and support in a new team, priming her to fully pursue the career she always knew she was meant to have. She most recently won by UD on MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects 16 in October 2025.

“This is just another fight for me. I’m here to prove that I’m staying at the top of my division,” said Miranda Reyes. “Fighting in my state of Texas again with MVP is an exclamation mark!”

Camilla Panatta is a skilled Italian southpaw whose discipline, international experience, and well-rounded style have established her as a respected contender. Born in Latina, Italy and now based in West Palm Beach, Florida, she has built an 8-3-1 record while competing in the US, Europe and Mexico since turning pro in 2021. Panatta was selected as a primary sparring partner for undisputed champion Katie Taylor during Taylor’s high-profile camps for the Amanda Serrano mega-fights, including their historic Madison Square Garden bout. Serving as Taylor’s first choice across multiple camps reflects Panatta’s technical quality, toughness, and ability to mirror elite styles with accuracy with championship-level preparation. Panatta speaks English and Spanish in addition to her native Italian. Panatta previously won the WBC Latin featherweight title, challenged for the WBA Gold featherweight title, and competed in Team Combat League as part of the Boston Butchers roster. She most recently challenged Caroline Dubois for the WBC lightweight title on MVP’s Jake vs. Joshua in December 2025.

“I feel very fortunate to have another opportunity with MVP and I’m also grateful to them,” said Camila Panatta. “There are no easy fights, but after the December fight vs Dubois, my vision is clearer than ever. I know I’m going to face a very good opponent, but I’m confident of my own level and what I’ve grown after that fight. It will be a war!”

MVP’s Jocelyn Camarillo is a 3x amateur national champion, former #1-ranked US amateur in the light flyweight division, and a proud training partner for Team USA Youth & Elite. She proudly represents Indio, California as one of the brightest young talents coming out of the Coachella Valley boxing community. Jocelyn grew up watching boxing and developed a natural passion that eventually led her to train at the historic Coachella Valley Boxing Club, where she built a strong amateur foundation and sharpened her skills among some of the region’s best athletes. Known for her speed, accuracy, and high-IQ pressure style, Jocelyn has quickly developed a reputation as a disciplined athlete with true star potential. Both inside and outside the ring, she brings charisma, professionalism, and a growing fanbase that continues to follow her journey. As she enters the next chapter of her career with MVP, standing 5-0 on her pro career, Jocelyn is focused, hungry, and ready to take on bigger challenges.

“I know what she brings, I just bring more,” said Jocelyn Camarillo. “On Saturday, May 30th, I’m not just showing up, I’m showing out. Don’t blink!”

Yazmin Martínez Jiménez is a professional boxer based in Mexico City. Boxing began as an obligation when she was 14, but over time, Martinez fell in love with the sport and decided to dedicate her life to it. That commitment translated into a strong amateur run of 30 fights with only 2 losses, setting the foundation for her professional career. She is managed by Ignacio Berinstain Rocha and trained by Erick Pérez Miranda. In the ring, Yazmin describes her style as aggressive and pressure-based — always fighting forward.

Iyana “Roxy” Verduzco is an undefeated pro boxer from Los Angeles, California. A skilled boxer-puncher and southpaw, Verduzco is recognized for her high boxing IQ, sharp timing, and quickness, training at Wild Card Boxing Club under coaches Gloria Alvarado and Marvin Somodio. Verduzco began boxing at just four years old and had her first fight at eight, building an exceptional amateur career that included 108 fights. She became a 21x national champion and amateur world champion, qualifying for the 2019 Olympic Trials. Coming from four generations of fighters, Verduzco draws inspiration from her uncle, undefeated kickboxer Benny “The Jet” Urquidez, and her mother, who introduced her to boxing and is her greatest motivation. Outside the ring, Verduzco, a dual citizen of Mexico and the United States, enjoys traveling and reading, owns a coffee truck, and is currently learning piano.

“Fighting under MVP and representing Los Angeles means a lot to me,” said Roxy Verduzco. “To do it alongside some of the top female superstars in the sport makes this moment even bigger. I’m ready to perform.”

Elise Soto is a 20-year-old Poughkeepsie, New York–born fighter defined by discipline, humility, and purpose, with deep Puerto Rican roots passed down through generations on her father’s side and a multicultural heritage shaped by her Mexican and French lineage through her mother. Introduced to boxing by her mother, Soto immediately found her calling despite excelling in other elite sports, committing fully to the art of boxing and the advancement of women in athletics. She began boxing at 16 and quickly rose through the U.S. amateur ranks, competing in five national tournaments, earning four silver medals, and advancing to the Olympic Trials with her mother in her corner. Guided by Amanda Serrano and Jordan Maldonado, she turned professional shortly thereafter and now trains under renowned coach Shaun George alongside Serrano and Maldonado, accelerating her growth in the ring. Outside of boxing, Soto works within her family business, Fitness Superstore USA, and is building her own fitness brand. She is deeply committed to philanthropy, focused on serving youth, individuals with disabilities, including work with the Special Olympics, and underserved communities, and is driven by faith, family, and a belief that boxing is her platform to create lasting impact. She is currently the WBO #1 and IBF #7 contender at 130lbs.

“I’m so blessed and super excited to get back in the ring. I have the absolute best management team who encouraged me to open my own gym and I did. It feels phenomenal to train and prepare in my own gym,” said Elise Soto. “This upcoming fight doesn’t happen without MVP. Being signed with the best company in boxing completes the most amazing team a fighter could have. I’m honored to fight on an amazing card alongside great fighters and on the best network ever on ESPN. Can’t wait to give everyone an exciting fight to watch and showcase for women’s boxing.”

MVP’s undefeated Alexis “Chop Chop” Chaparro is a 25-year-old rising contender raised in Ridgewood, New York, competed at both the 2020 and 2024 USA Boxing Olympic trials. The gifted Puerto Rican athlete is also a high fashion model, having worked for Versace, Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, and Polo Ralph Lauren, among others. Chaparro landed a sensational first-round KO win in his pro debut on Most Valuable Prospects 6 in April 2024, before scoring a stunning second-round knockout win on the preliminary card of MVP’s Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry in July 2024. He also earned a first-round TKO victory on MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects 9 in Puerto Rico in October 2024, and knocked out Daijohn Gonzalez on Most Valuable Prospects 13 in June 2025. Chaparro most recently knocked out then-undefeated prospect David Gutierrez on Most Valuable Prospects 16 in October 2025.

“I’m super excited to be back in the ring,” said Alex Chaparro. “El Paso, Texas, I’m coming with skill, power, and one goal—dominate.”

Edward Ulloa Díaz is a professional boxer based in the Bronx, New York. He started boxing at 12, drawn to the sport by its independence: in the ring, everything depends on him. That self-reliance shaped a long amateur career of 52 wins and 12 losses, and it continues to define how he approaches the professional ranks. In the ring, Ulloa describes his style as well-rounded, a highly-adaptable fighter.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity and I’m happy MVP will let me showcase myself against Chaparro,” said Edward Ulloa. “He is a very good boxer, smart and strong, but I have a lot of experience and nothing he can do will deter me from winning that night.”

MVP’s 2x US national amateur champion and rising bantamweight star Alexander “The Alley Cat” Gueche also joins the card. Fighting out of Long Beach, California, by way of Harbor City, California, Gueche most recently extended his undefeated streak with a UD win over Mario Alberto Diaz Maldonado in March 2026. With his ability to combine pinpoint precision and knockout power, Gueche has solidified his place as one of boxing’s most exciting young talents.

“This is exactly the stage I’ve been working so hard for in camp,” said Alex Gueche. “ESPN, a card stacked with champions, the whole sport watching.  I’m grateful to MVP for the platform, and on Saturday, May 30th I’m coming to El Paso to make sure nobody forgets my name when the lights go up on the headliners.”

San Antonio, Texas prospect Joshua Montoya gave himself the nickname “Spotlight” as a kid, a natural fit for someone who’s always thrived as an entertainer. Friends shortened it to “Spotty”, and the name has stuck ever since. Joshua started in MMA before transitioning to boxing at 15, logging roughly 30 amateur bouts on his way to the professional ranks. In the ring, Joshua has a fast, agile, and quick style built on movement and precision. Outside the ring, he dances, sings, streams, and creates content.

“I’m thankful for the opportunity to show why I’m called ‘Spotlight’ on MVP,” said Joshua Montoya. “I’m not only a fighter, I’m an entertainer. I’m putting belt to ass on Saturday, May 30th.”

Nazarena Romero is a former WBA world champion recognized for her aggressive, high-pressure, and grueling fighting style. Romero won the vacant WBA world title in August 2024, defeating Paulette Valenzuela Cuesta by 9th round TKO to claim the belt. Romero lost her world title to Mayelli Flores via split decision in May 2025 in a closely contested bout. She also holds a notable draw against former world champion Erika Cruz, further underscoring her ability to compete at the elite level.

Albina Moldazhanova is a Russian boxer from a small settlement in Siberia called Demyanka. As an adult, she moved to the city of Tyumen, and was selected for the national boxing team. As a member of the national team, she won the Russian Youth championship, won the Russian championship, won the European Youth Championship and later became a silver medalist at the European Championships. In 2025, she earned a medal at the World Championships before turning pro. The 24-year-old now has three pro fights under her belt, with a perfect 3-0, 3 KO record. She finished two of three pro fights to date by knockout, with her opponent retiring on her stool to end the other.

“I have had 3 fights, all of which I finished early,” said Albina Moldazhanova. “I aim to continue my winning streak, demonstrate my strong Siberian character, and prove to myself and to the world that the impossible is possible.”

Claudia Herrera comes to the ring from Jesús María, Aguascalientes, Mexico. The 34-year-old most recently went the distance against Sarah French in March 2026.

AMANDA SERRANO QUOTES

On the recent Anthony Joshua accident

“I also want to say my condolences and respect for what happened with AJ. His best friends passed away. So I want them to rest in peace and AJ to have a full speedy recovery. My heart goes out to them and the family. I’m just praying for them.”

On fighting in Puerto Rico and how she feels ahead of Saturday

“I’m super excited to be here. The last time I fought in Puerto Rico was right here [at Plaza del Tótem]. The ring was right here in the middle, and I got a stoppage. It was an amazing night, and I’m excited to be here again with this amazing card, amazing fighters, and amazing women. You guys are in for a treat Saturday night.”

On what emotions she expects when she steps out of the ring

“It’s a different emotion when I fight here in Puerto Rico because the love is real and genuine…and we bring it differently. Latinos bring it differently. Boricuas bring it differently. So, it’s going to be nice, and everyone on the card is going to feel the energy in that arena. Everyone is just going to bring out the best in one another, and come Saturday night, it’s just going to be a great night. I can’t say it enough.”

On the importance of competing in three-minute rounds

“Because we want change for the future. I’ve been in the game for 17 years, and I want these women to get the equality, get the bigger pay days, get recognition, and get platforms. With MVP, we’re definitely doing that. We’re doing that, but we need a lot more visuals. A lot more people are backing us up as well. These women, as amateurs, they’re fighting three minutes, so why not do it as a pro? They have to change their whole gameplan. They have to change their whole game and style to become professionals, but I just think it’s better for us women to be able to display our skills and our knockout power. On Saturday night, you’ll see most of these women here are fighting three-minute rounds thanks to MVP. They’re giving us the opportunity, and I’m hoping that we can all get together and one day make a change so women’s boxing can be equal to the men’s.”

On her and Reina respect each other while being competitors

“This is the business. We can be nice to each other outside. Obviously, you’ve seen all of my fights. I’ve never been disrespectful to any of my opponents. But when we go in there, we put in that work, and we make sure the fans get what they paid for, and we’re going to go out there. And whoever comes out victorious, we’re still going to be friends afterwards. I’m still going to be a fan of Reina’s and her sister. And I’m still going to watch her grow into the sport and the amazing champion she will be one day.”

On this potentially being her last year fighting and what moments stand out to her

“When I started it was a struggle. Me, my sister, and Jordan Maldonado struggled. We struggled for years in this sport. After being a professional for 13 years, Nakisa Bidarian and Jake Paul came into my life and changed it. They changed my family’s life and my bank account. So it’s been an incredible journey. Now that we have MVP, we’re helping other women in this sport, and that is something that we truly want to do and continue to open the doors for women in this sport.  I said I might [retire]. It’s been a long journey, and I just love seeing these women here grow, get the opportunities, and get better paydays. And just one fight at a time. But I do have goals, so I need the record for the knockout. Indeed, 50 wins. So there’s certain goals. I have to keep on going.”

On her thoughts on Jake Paul’s fight with Anthony Joshua

“All I have to say is Jake Paul has some cajones to go out there and even take that fight. I always thought that there’s something special in Jake, and for him to even take that fight on pretty much short notice is pretty insane. But he did it, he went out there, he fought the way he was supposed to fight, but this is boxing…a punch is a punch, and it was a hard punch. You saw what happened, but the craziest thing is he wants to come back to this sport. He doesn’t need to, but hey, I love Jake Paul. I love him and his family, what he’s done for us, for women’s boxing, and what he’s doing for boxing in general.”

On what Jake Paul is doing for boxing and boxing in Puerto Rico

“There’s 22 gyms for boxing bullies that he opened up. The second one that we were at for the media workout was under my name, and I truly love what he’s doing for all the young kids in Puerto Rico because now they have an outlet. Now, they have a place they can go without staying in the streets or doing anything bad, and they have gyms they can go to and do something productive. Maybe one day we will have multiple world champions coming from the island, but it’s not just Puerto Rico…it’s all over the world.”

On what she wants her legacy to be in Puerto Rico

“I want to be remembered as a game changer, as someone who is helping the sport of women’s boxing and just sports in general, as well, because we’re women. And all of a sudden… I was just telling Stephanie Han, and hearing Ebanie, she just had a baby. Women, we go through so much more than what men do, and they’re moms first. First, they’re women, then moms, and then Stephanie Han is a police officer because you have to have a job in the beginning. Women had to have a job. We had to get a 9-5 because we weren’t getting paid the way we are getting paid now. It’s still not the best, but now everyone is getting paid the best. I’ve been blessed, but we have our lives as well. I want to see women’s boxing just grow. I want to see women be able to concentrate just on boxing, just on the sport and their craft, and get what they deserve and get the pay that they deserve.”

On what is needed from other promoters to achieve a better sense of gender equality in boxing

“Just keep watching MVP. Just keep watching how they do it, and then they’ll learn. Just take a page out of their book and just continue to help, push, and empower women. Some people just don’t want to empower women. I’m one of the women I love. I’m an empowered woman that loves to empower other women. That’s what MVP’s been about since the very beginning. I’m super happy and blessed that I showed Nakisa [ Bidarian] and Jake Paul that women can fight. I made them believers in women, and look at us today. We have a roster of how many women? It keeps growing and growing, so I’m super excited for that, and we continue to show that women can fight. Women want equality, and we want to do what the men do. I’m just excited, and come Saturday night, you’re going to have a great show of amazing women. We have a great card, and I’m excited for Puerto Rico.”

On how she ignores her admiration for Reina to try to hurt her on Saturday

“At the end of the day, it’s a fight. She bleeds how I bleed, everybody does, so I feel like I give her the utmost respect, but at the same time, it’s a fight, and I’m not going to let that get in the way because at the end of the day, it is a fight and there’s a lot on the line.”

REINA TELLEZ QUOTES

On what motivates her and what she expects this Saturday

“First of all, Puerto Rico is beautiful. I’ve never been here. When I got the call, I was shocked. Someone [Amanda Serrano] I’ve watched my whole life. I think she fought for her first world title when I first started boxing. It tells the tale. I’m extremely grateful to be on this platform, but let alone fight somebody I watched growing up and just in my career. It’s just crazy to say sometimes I just think about it, and I can’t fully process it because it’s real. I didn’t think I would be in this position, let alone this year. When they gave me the call, I took the opportunity and just jumped on it, and we’re doing what we can do.”

On how long it took to think through and accept this fight, and why it’s the right time

“It took me about a day. I knew that opportunities like this come once in a lifetime, and you never know when it’s going to come back around. I really have nothing to lose and everything to gain. It’s a high-risk, high-reward situation, and like I said, I’m grateful for it.”

On how much it means to have this opportunity so young in her career

“It means a lot. I’ve been boxing since I was eight years old, and it means a lot to me and my family because we went through a lot. We’ve been through a lot of sacrifices just to get here. Now the day’s finally here, so we’re excited, and we’re grateful as a whole.”

On what she would like to do this Saturday, and how she would like to end the fight

“I would just like to put the work in, that’s it. It’s my first time for 10 rounds and first time for three minutes so it’s going to be something new that I experience in my life.”

On the decision to say “yes” to this fight

“I would say it was a big opportunity – a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It’s just something I had to say yes to because I know that if I didn’t, I would have probably regretted it.”

On if she means to run or if she will stand in front of Amanda

“I’m going to do what the gameplan is. There’s going to be some instances where we’re going to have to fight it out, and there’s going to be times where we’re boxing.”

STEPHANIE HAN QUOTES

On how she feels about this fight

“Fighting Holly Holm is like a dream come true. I watched her knock out Ronda Rousey, and I’ve always been a fan of hers. To have the opportunity to share the ring with her, someone I’ve always looked up to, and share my story as a police officer, as a mother of two, and a mother to a special needs daughter, I’m representing all the parents out there. I’m representing the people that have dreams. I quit boxing and came back. I’m living my dream and making that dream a reality.”

On what a win would mean for her

“Obviously, all of us are athletes, and all of us train to win, so for me to win against Holly Holm means everything I sacrificed is worth it. I came back to boxing…it’s a dream to be part of this team. It’s a dream to beat Holly Holm.”

On what fighting three-minute rounds with men’s rule means to women on the card

“We’re showing that women are just as capable as men, and we can definitely put on a show. Why not show that we’re just as strong?”

HOLLY HOLM QUOTES

On signing with MVP and wanting to become a champion again

“I’m a fighter, and I love to fight. I’ve just followed my passion where it’s taken me – boxing for years and then MMA for a couple of years. Seeing the opportunities MVP has brought for women in boxing, being able to come back and having bigger opportunities, it was something that really intrigued me. Having seen these girls have that platform, I thought, ‘I want to come back,’ and be a champion and come back to a sport that was always great when I did it before. Being able to fight in another weight division – I’ve never fought in this weight division in boxing before – but I did for many years in MMA, so it made sense to come back to fight for a belt. That’s my drive, and that’s my passion.”

What does fighting with men’s equal rounds mean

“When I trained in boxing, we always trained with three-minute rounds, then I went to MMA and it was five-minute rounds. I always trained in two or five-minute rounds. Coming into this fight and being able to experience three-minute rounds in an actual boxing fight – I’m excited for it.”

On what another championship would mean for her career

“I’m always looking to do something I haven’t done before, or that hasn’t been done at all. I want to be a two-sport athlete, but not just that, be a champion at the highest level in those sports [boxing and MMA]. To be able to come back and get another title in another weight class is something that drives me, and that’s my goal. I want something that I know a very small percentage of people in this world can do.”

On looking for new weight classes after this fight

“This is the lowest I’ll go, and I’ve already fought at three heavier weight classes than this, so I think I’ll stay at this one for the remainder of my boxing career.”

KRYSTAL ROSADO QUOTES

On how she sees her boxing journey and being one of the prospects in Puerto Rico

“I’m really happy with all MVP Promotions’ teams, Jake [Paul], Jordan, Nakisa [Bidarian]. I’m really happy with Amanda [Serrano], thankful for Amanda – a champion that I admire, and to be called her protege is an honor because Amanda is a person and a fighter I admire a lot, and I will give everything this Saturday in this fight.”

On what sharing the spotlight with Amanda Serrano means and how it will affect her career

“I know I am training hard, and I will achieve everything I want in my career. Obviously, the spotlight will make for a good change in my career.”

EBANIE BRIDGES QUOTES

On how she feels being in Puerto Rico in her MVP debut

“I’m very excited. I must say, I’ve only been here for two days, and I’m already in love with Puerto Rico – thank you, Puerto Ricans. They are amazing. This island is fabulous and beautiful. I’m actually sad that I’ve never been here before. Thank you Puerto Rico, for welcoming me and welcoming all of us. I’m just so excited to get back in there. It’s been a while, but what better promotional company [MVP] to make my comeback with.”

On identifying the right moment to return to boxing

“MVP has been making massive waves in women’s boxing…really believing in us and supporting us for the right reasons, so it was just the right fit. I just feel the way I promote myself, and how I’m very driven, I think MVP really suited me. I had a baby just 10 months ago, so that’s why this is the right time. My son is here, and he’s my motivation and my drive. When I got pregnant, everyone thought that was it. They thought I was retired, but I said, ‘Why? Just because I had a baby? Does that mean I quit on life or my goals?’ I have even more drive now with my son because I want to fight for him and I want to make him proud. I want to be in the ring with him and the belt. All of these things are motivation for me. Before, I wanted to be a world champion, but I’ve already been a world champion. So now I need a little bit more drive and my son… and also inspiring other women who are thinking of having children or have had children and want to do things, don’t let babies stop you. I’m very blessed and grateful to everyone who helps me at home because it really does take a village to raise a child, especially when you’re in a fight camp. So thank you to everyone that helped me so I can get to the gym and train. It’s been a very different camp…a lot of adaptations, but we’re here, and I’m so excited for Saturday night. I can’t wait to get in there and press some skulls.”

YANKIEL RIVERA QUOTES

On how he’s feeling ahead of the fight

“I’m happy to be sharing the fight with Bomba in Puerto Rico and also happy to be contending in 12 rounds. I’m ready for this fight, and I really appreciate MVP’s team. They can always count on me.”

JONATHAN GONZALEZ QUOTES

On what this matchup means for him and what is shows for Puerto Rican boxing

“I’m just happy to be here, another big stage with Amanda [Serrano]. I’m ready. I want to be a two-time world champion. This is my goal, it’s always been my goal, and I think Yankiel [Rivera] will have a problem on Saturday night.”

JAN PAUL RIVERA QUOTES

On how important it is to represent Puerto Rico

“I am happy because of my company. I am happy to be representing Puerto Rico and Salinas, my hometown. I am happy to fight this Saturday, January 3, and looking to give my best in this fight.”

ALFREDO CRUZ QUOTES

On how he approaches the challenge of facing an undefeated rising contender

“This training camp was great. I’m grateful to my training team and I’m ready for this fight. People should count on me at 126 pounds on a global level.”

On what kind of fight fans should expect this saturday

“God only knows what will happen on Saturday, but everyone who doesn’t know how to dance salsa, they will learn how to dance salsa this Saturday at the Coliseo Robert Clemente in San Juan.”

HENRY LEBRON QUOTES

On how he feels about his opponent

“I’m happy to come back, as a year ago, I faced two other opponents in San Juan, Puerto Rico. They were respectful opponents, and I believe I am going to come out with a victory on home soil on Saturday, January 3.”

On how complicated is this fight, considering that you fought in December 2024

“There’s been some trouble with managing and with contracts and all that kind of stuff that’s happening in business, but now I’m happy to be signing with MVP, and my team is working with all the stuff that might be complicated, but I know my team will make it better for me.”

CHRIS ECHEVARRIA QUOTES

On what he wants to prove and keep climbing through the rankings

“I respect my opponent, but I have to go back and see my parranda. I’m also thankful for this huge opportunity I have to face my opponent in this main card event in San Juan, Puerto Rico.”

On his response to Bernardi saying he will finish early in the fight

“Words are only words, and I hope that Saturday he’s fixing the ring because he knows it’s clear what is going to happen.”

On how he feeds off the energy fighting in front of the home crowd

“I’m happy to fight at home. I’m grateful to be Puerto Rican and to represent Puerto Rico proudly. I’m going to give everything I have in this ring and feed off everything Puerto Rico gives me.”

GABRIEL BERNARDI QUOTES

On what separates him from his opponent [Chris Echevarria]

“I am giving a Puerto Rican parranda from Puerto Rico to my opponent.”

On what his next chapter will be if he wins this fight

“I want to make a campaign at 132 pounds. I’m going to get out of the fight early.”

ELISE SOTO QUOTES

On what has been clicking for her as she continues her strong run of knockouts

“It’s an opportunity of a lifetime, and I’m going to continue to work hard to be the very best I can be for all of you and Puerto Rico. I love you.”

On what it means to be a Puerto Rican fighter on a card with Amanda Serrano

“It’s literally a dream come true fighting on Amanda’s card at the [Coliseo] Robert Clemente, so it’s a dream come true, and I can’t wait to fight.”

ABNER FIGUEROA QUOTES

On what this test means for his development

“This is a great opening, and I will give everything in the ring to make for a great show.”

EDWIN RODRIGUEZ QUOTES

On what experience he’s bringing for Saturday’s fight

“This is my second fight on a card with Amanda Serrano, and I hope everyone is ready because I am going to give everything I have in the ring.”

On how important it is to fight on this card in Puerto Rico

“I haven’t fought in Puerto Rico in two years. I’m so happy to be fighting back at home. I’m also happy to be at 118 pounds, and I want people to consider me at that weight so I can continue fighting in this category. I’m just happy to be in Puerto Rico and to be fighting in Puerto Rico.”

Serrano vs. Tellez

News and Social

Reina Tellez Embraces Her Moment

SAN ANTONIO, TX (December 23, 2025) — Boxlab Promotions’ undefeated featherweight contender Reina Tellez (13-0-1, 5 KOs), from San Antonio, Texas, is set to take on the challenge of a lifetime as she steps in as a late replacement to face one of the most iconic names in women’s boxing — seven-division world champion Amanda Serrano (47-4-1, 31 KOs) who resides in Carolina, Puerto Rico.

The 10-round featherweight world title bout will take place on January 3, 2026, at the historic Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with Serrano’s WBA and WBO featherweight world titles on the line. The fight marks Tellez’s first shot at a world championship and will be broadcast globally live on DAZN as part of a stacked card brough to you by Most Valuable Promotions.

While many might hesitate when given such short notice, Reina Tellez has embraced the challenge with the heart of a true warrior — hungry, focused, and ready to make a statement. Speaking on the magnitude of this moment, Tellez shared her deep appreciation and determination. “Getting this call was surreal,” said Tellez on facing Amanda Serrano as a late replacement. “Amanda Serrano is one of the most respected and accomplished fighters in the world, and I have nothing but admiration for what she’s done for women’s boxing. But I didn’t hesitate for a second. These are the kinds of moments you dream of, and when they come, you don’t back down. You rise to the occasion, and that is what I’m going to do.”

Tellez made it clear that stepping in late doesn’t mean she’ll be anything less than fully prepared. “I’m treating this like the biggest fight of my life, because it is,” continued Tellez on maximizing the opportunity and preparing for the fight. “My team and I are working around the clock to make sure I step into that ring in the best shape I’ve ever been in. I might be the underdog on paper, but I’ve been preparing for an opportunity like this my whole career. I’m not here to fill a spot, I’m here to win.”

For Tellez, the significance of fighting for a world title goes beyond belts, it’s about legacy, purpose, and inspiring others. “This fight is bigger than me,” concluded Tellez on fighting for her first world title. “It’s about representing every young girl who’s ever been told she couldn’t make it in a sport like this. To fight for a world title, against someone like Serrano, is something I’ve worked for every single day. I’m going into that ring with pride, purpose, and a belief that I belong on this stage.”

Amaury Piedra, President of Boxlab Promotions, believes Reina Tellez is ready to seize her moment and emerge as a new face in women’s boxing. “Reina has always shown the qualities of a future star, discipline, grit, humility, and heart,” said Amaury Piedra on Reina Tellez’s potential to become a breakout star. “She’s undefeated for a reason, and now she has the chance to show the world just how talented she is. If she beats Serrano, it won’t be an upset to us, it will be the arrival of the next big name in women’s boxing.”

With high stakes, world titles on the line, and two fighters at the top of their game, Serrano vs. Tellez promises to be a thrilling showdown to kick off the new year. Don’t miss this defining moment in women’s boxing on January 3, 2026, live on DAZN from San Juan, Puerto Rico.

MVP unequivocally supports the decision as we never want one of our athletes to feel they are competing in a potentially unfair bout,” said Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, co-founders of Most Valuable Promotions. “We look forward to supporting Amanda as she now takes on Reina Tellez, a hungry contender with a highly decorated amateur background and outstanding pro career to date.”

Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano is the first-ever Puerto Rican undisputed world champion and the most decorated fighter in women’s boxing history, recognized by the Guinness World Records for the most boxing world championships won by a female in different weight classes. Serrano is Most Valuable Promotions’ first signee, who also signed the first ever lifetime combat sports contract with MVP and will become Chairwoman of MVP’s women’s boxing initiatives to lead the company’s efforts in identifying, signing, developing and marketing the promotion’s growing roster of female athletes post her in-ring retirement. Serrano faced off against Katie Taylor for the first time at Madison Square Garden in April 2022, making history as the first women’s fight to headline Madison Square Garden, earning global acclaim and winning Sports Illustrated’s Fight of the Year and The Ring’s Event of the Year for 2022. Taylor vs. Serrano was also nominated for Sports Business Journal’s Event of the Year, a testament to the global reach and power of the event. Following the historic bout, Serrano defeated Sarah Mahfoud and Erika Cruz en-route to becoming the undisputed featherweight champion. She successfully defended her undisputed title in August 2023 against Heather Hardy before making history again, defeating Danila Ramos in October 2023 in the first-ever women’s unified world championship contested over 12 three-minute rounds—equal to a men’s championship fight. She threw a career-high 1,103 punches in the bout, solidifying her status as a trailblazer for gender equality in boxing. In recognition of her achievements inside and outside the ring, Serrano was named the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) Female Fighter of the Year for 2023, as well as Sports Illustrated’s and Boxing Scene’s 2023 Women’s Fighter of the Year. She continued her dominance in July 2024, scoring a second-round knockout victory over Stevie Morgan in a super lightweight bout.

Serrano went on to face Katie Taylor in the most anticipated women’s boxing rematch in modern history in the co-main event of MVP’s Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson card on Netflix in November 2024. The undisputed super lightweight title fight averaged 74 million live viewers globally and became the most-watched professional women’s sports event in US history with 47 million AMA in the US. The bout ended in a razor-thin decision victory for Taylor, sparking global debate and skyrocketing Serrano’s social following to over 1.2 million. #Serrano also trended at #2 on X in the US, Brazil, Spain, and Canada post-fight, further cementing her status as a global icon. Serrano then faced Taylor a third and final time atop an all-women’s event at Madison Square Garden, commanding the world’s attention once again on Netflix, continuing to break barriers for women in combat sports with a historic trilogy. Serrano now makes her long-awaited homecoming to Puerto Rico on Saturday, January 3, set to face Tellez in an explosive meeting of two of the sport’s top 126lb stars.

“I’m disappointed the original fight couldn’t move forward, but my priority has always been respect for the sport,” said Amanda Serrano. “Reina Tellez is a tough opponent who’s earned this opportunity, and I am up for the challenge. Fighting at home in Puerto Rico, defending my world titles, and continuing to push women’s boxing forward under equal rules means everything to me. Saturday, January 3, is about showing the world once again what Puerto Rican fighters are made of.”

The 22-year-old Tellez, of Irish-Mexican heritage, most recently defeated Mayela Perez by unanimous decision in September 2025. She resides in San Antonio, Texas and is represented by Boxlab Promotions.

“This is the moment I’ve been fighting for my whole life. To step into the ring with a champion like Amanda Serrano, someone I’ve looked up to, is an honor, but I’m not here just to share the spotlight,” said Reina Tellez. “I’m here to win. I represent San Antonio, I represent every fighter chasing a dream, and I’m coming with everything I’ve got. On fight night, the world’s going to see just how hungry I am to make history.”

Serrano vs. Tellez will feature 12 additional bouts. In the co-main event, MVP’s reigning WBA lightweight world champion Stephanie Han (11-0, 3 KOs) will defend her title against the most dominant two-sport athlete in combat sports history, former boxing and UFC champion, MVP’s Holly “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holm (34-2-3, 9 KOs) who looks to win a boxing world title in a fourth division. Han vs. Holm will be a 10-round lightweight championship bout at 135 lbs contested under equal rules to men with three-minute rounds, joining Serrano and Tellez in a historic statement for women’s boxing. Also on the card will be former IBF bantamweight world champion and newly signed MVP star Ebanie Bridges (9-2, 4 KOs) making her promotional debut against Alexis Araiza (3-2-1, 1 KO) in an 8-round bout at 118 lbs, MVP’s young Puerto Rican sensation Krystal Rosado (7-1, 2 KOs) vs. Canada’s Tania Walters (7-3, 2 KOs) in a 6-round bantamweight bout contested under equal rules to men with three-minute rounds, MVP’s Puerto Rican Olympian and WBA #1 and WBC #6 contender Yankiel “El Doctorcito” Rivera (7-0-1, 3 KOs) vs. former WBO world champion Jonathan “Bomba” González (28-4-1, 14 KOs) in a 10-round flyweight showdown at 112 lbs; MVP’s featherweight contender Jan Paul Rivera (13-0, 7 KOs) vs. San Juan’s Alfredo “El Salsero” Cruz (10-3-1, 5 KOs) in an 8-round bout at 126 lbs; undefeated super featherweight Henry “Moncho” Lebron (20-0, 10 KOs) vs. Juan “Johnny Blaze” Tapia (14-4, 5 KOs) in an 8-round contest at 130 lbs; Aguada’s rising talent Chris “The Punisher” Echevarria (9-1, 4 KOs) vs. Gabriel Bernardi (7-3, 5 KOs) in a 6-round super bantamweight bout at 122 lbs; Naranjito’s Abner Figueroa (7-0, 1 KO) vs. Juana Diaz’s Edwin Rodriguez (12-9-3, 5 KOs) in a 6-round bantamweight bout at 118lbs; Caguas’s Yandiel Lozano (2-0) vs. Sabana Grande’s Johniel Ramos Cotto (3-2, 1 KO) in a 6-round super featherweight bout at 130lbs; Bayamon’s Caleb Tirado vs. Justin Hill in a four round bantamweight bout as both fighters make their professional debut; MVP’s Alex “Chop Chop” Chaparro (6-0, 6 KOs) vs. Augusto Leal (3-0, 1 KO) in a 6-round middleweight bout at 160lbs; and MVP’s Raquel Miller (13-0, 6 KOs) making her MVP promotional debut.
