Former world champion Tim Tszyu won a 10-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Denis Nurja in a junior middleweight bout in Australia.

n round three, Tszyu was cut under his left eye from an accidental headbutt. In round four, Tszyu landed an inside left to the top of the head that put Nurja on the canvas.

In round seven, Nurja was deducted a point for holding.

Tszyu landed 236 of 573 punches; Nurja was 94 of 380.

Tszyu, 156.9 lbs of Australia won by scores of 100-88 on all cards and is now 27-3. Nurja, 156.5 lbs of Albania is 20-1.

“He’s tough and I expected that,” said Tszyu (27-3, 18 KOs). “He came in with the perfect record, so I knew he was no joke. I had him a couple times but he didn’t drop. Those were some good rounds. I was trying to take him out, he’s just tough. Big respect.”

“I feel like I’m up for Errol Spence Jr,” said Tszyu. “I think that would be one hell of a fight. That’s a banger. I don’t take a backward step. If he’s ready to meet me there, bring it on. I’m coming to catch the big fish. Let’s go fishing.

Tszyu will now look for a big fight with Errol Spence Jr. later this Summer.

Goodman Decisions Ruiz

Sam Goodman won a 12-round unanimous decision over Rodrigo Ruiz in a super bantamweight bout.

Goodman, 121.4 lbs of Albion, AUS won by scores of 118-110, 116-112 and 115-113 and is now 22-1. Ruiz, 121.4 lbs of Argentina is 23-2.

Solomana Stops Wallace in 3

Nelson Asofa Solomana stopped Jarrod Wallace in round three of a four-round heavyweight bout.

In round one, Solomona was cut high on the fore head from a clash of heads. In round three, Solomona landed a big uppercut that Wallace down. Wallace began to fade and another flurry that was completed by another uppercut put Wallace down and out at 1:03.

Soloman, 296.4 lbs of Melbourne, AUS is 2-0 with two knockouts. Wallace, 263.6 lbs of Queensland is 0-1.

Peters Stops Mouzhino in 2

Callum Peters stopped Delio Anzaleci Mouzhino in two riock-em-sock-em rounds in a scheduled eight-round middleweight bout.

In round one, Peter hurt Mouzhino with a left hook to the jaw and a right to the head that had Mouzhino stumbling across the ring and one more right to the head put Mouzhino down. In round two, Peter landed a perfect counter right that put Mouzhino down and the fight was stopped at 57 seconds.

Peters, 158.6 lbs of Adelaide, AUS is 6-0 with six knockouts. Mouzhino, 158.9 lbs of TLS is 4-1.

Aokuso Stops Hao Po in 1

Paulo Aokuso stopped Kittipong Jian Hao Po in the opening frame of their 10-round light heavyweight bout.

Seconds into the fight, Hao Po injured his right knee without really getting touched. In round one, Aokuso dropped Hao Po with a straight left. Hao Po was hurt and dropped again and clutched the bad knee and the fight was stopped at 2:20.

Aokuso, 174.7 lbs of Sydney is 10-0 with five knockouts. Hao Po, 174.7 lbs of Australia is 13-2-1.

**TIM TSZYU VS. DENIS NURJA**

A fan-favorite in his native Australia, former 154-pound world champion Tim Tszyu looks to prove he’s ready to return to his champion status against the undefeated ascending WBA No. 12-ranked contender Denis Nurja in the evening’s 10-round super welterweight main event.

The 31-year-old Tszyu (26-3, 18 KOs) will enter this fight off his second straight training camp with new trainer Pedro Diaz in Miami and while holding the WBO No. 3 ranking. Most recently, Tszyu won a dominating unanimous decision over the previously unbeaten Anthony Velazquez in December, five months after dropping the second of two memorable contests against current WBC Super Welterweight World Champion Sebastian Fundora. Tszyu came into the first Fundora fight off a red-hot 2023 campaign that saw him elevated to world champion at 154-pounds while defeating former world champion Tony Harrison, top contender Brian Mendoza and former title challenger Carlos Ocampo. A native of Sydney, Australia, Tszyu made his U.S debut against U.S. Olympian Terrell Gausha in March 2022, earning a unanimous decision. Tszyu grew up playing soccer, but soon gravitated toward boxing. The decision led to him following in the legendary footsteps of his father, Kostya, who was an undisputed 140-pound champion.

A native of Tirana, Albania, Nurja (20-0, 9 KOs) has risen up the rankings while fighting and winning in six different countries as he looks to make it seven in Australia against Tszyu. The 31-year-old had a big 2025 that saw him pick up three victories, including a July stoppage of Kiryl Samadurau, and decisions over Luigi Francesco Zito and Refik Tarhan. Now training and residing in Italy, Nurja has fought professionally since 2018 and owns a notable victory over the previously unbeaten Charles Shinima in March 2024. An accomplished amateur who won eight Albanian national championship while competing on the country’s national team, Nurja kicked off his 2026 in mid-February with a first-round stoppage of Jose Gregorio Marcano.

“I am 20-0 for a reason and I did not build that record by playing it safe,” said Nurja. “This is the biggest opportunity of my career and I am ready for it. People are talking about Tim’s comeback, but I am the one standing in front of him. I respect what he has done in the sport but I believe this is my moment. I am coming to Australia to win.”

**SAM GOODMAN VS. RODRIGO RUIZ**

A former world title challenger, top super bantamweight contender Sam Goodman will take on tricky Argentine contender Rodrigo Ruiz in a 12-round IBF 126-Pound World Title Eliminator.

Goodman (21-1, 8 KOs) steps back into action after winning a one-sided unanimous decision over the previously unbeaten Tyler Blizzard in December. It was the 27-year-old’s first fight since a hard-fought decision loss to then WBA Featherweight World Champion. The New South Wales, Australia-native has never lost in the 122-pound division, reaching top contender status with a pair of signature victories in 2023. He kicked off that campaign by defeating former world champion T.J. Doheny before dispatching of the favored and then unbeaten Ra’eese Aleem.

Looking to become the next Argentine world champion, Ruiz (23-1, 17 KOs) represents his native Las Talitas, Tucuman and most recently stopped Isaac Arias in the sixth-round in November. The 25-year-old has fought professionally since 2021 and has stayed busy working his way up the rankings, including three wins in 2025 following a four-win 2024 campaign. His lone blemish came via decision against unbeaten contender Mukhammad Shekhov in their July 2025 clash that saw both fighters hit the canvas.

**CALLUM PETERS VS. DELIO MOUZINHO**

The highly-touted middleweight prospect Callum Peters will put his undefeated record on the line against Timor-Leste’s Delio Mouzinho in a six-round matchup of young fighters who each boast 100% KO ratios.

After representing Australia at the 2024 Olympics, Peters (5-0, 5 KOs) turned pro in December 2024 with a first-round stoppage of Mitch Holden. The 25-year-old will look to continue his rise and make his 2026 debut in action on Prime Video. A native of Adelaide, South Australia, Peters put together a big 2025 with four more knockouts including his most recent bout, a December stoppage of Cody Beekin that saw him pick up the Australian middleweight title via sixth-round stoppage.  

The 25-year-old Mouzinho (4-0, 4 KOs) will fights for the first time in 2026 after beating two previously undefeated fighters in 2025. He kicked the year off with a second-round stoppage of Alisher Ismailov before traveling to Canada to stop Kimani Crawford in round two in June. Mouzinho turned pro in 2024 with a pair of first-round knockouts.

Naoya Inoue will defend his undisputed super bantamweight crown against unbeaten Australian contender Sam Goodman on Friday, Jan. 24, at Ariake Arena in Tokyo. The two were initially scheduled to fight on Dec. 24, but Goodman suffered a cut above his left eye in sparring shortly before he was scheduled to depart for Tokyo.

Inoue-Goodman will headline a loaded bill streaming live and exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+. This special early-morning broadcast will also feature the return of Yoshiki Takei (10-0, 8 KOs), who will defend his WBO bantamweight world title against Thailand’s Yuttapong Tongdee (15-0, 9 KOs).

Reinvigorated since teaming with renowned trainer Ismael Salas, Mendoza had previously knocked out former unified 154-pound champion Jeison Rosario in November 2022. Mendoza has won three fights in a row since dropping a decision to highly touted knockout artist Jesus Ramos in September 2021. Mendoza also owns a 10-round unanimous decision triumph over Thomas LaManna in August 2020 and began his career with eighteen consecutive victories.

After an impressive amateur career that included four national championships and an appearance in the 2017 World Amateur Championships, the Australian from Albion Park, New South Wales turned pro in April 2018 and began compiling his unbeaten record.

Flores (25-4-1, 12 KOs) returns to action having most recently battled former three-division champion Abner Mares to a competitive draw in September of last year. Before that fight, the 31-year-old stopped a two-bout losing streak with a decision over Diuhl Olguin in June 2021. Those losses had come in a 130-pound title fight against four-division champion Leo Santa Cruz and against top contender Eduardo Ramirez. Born in Mexico and now residing in Spring, Texas, Flores turned pro in 2009 at just 17-years-old and was victorious in his first 22 bouts.

World rated contender Elijah Pierce (18-2, 15 KOs) needed just three rounds to knock out Mike Plania (28-3, 15 KOs) on Friday night. The event was promoted by Overtime Boxing and streamed on DAZN. 

Pierce is currently world rated by the WBC, IBF and WBO. 

The 26 year old southpaw connected with a short and succinct shotgun left hand that dropped Plania, and the Florida-based Filipino fighter failed to pick himself back up from the canvas. This marks the first time Plania has been stopped in 31 fights. 

“I’ve been telling everybody, the power is real. I know I’m the hardest punching super bantamweight in the world. I feel like I’m the only one who can beat Inoue, as once he feels my shots he’ll respect me.”- said Pierce. 

Elijah’s manager Trifon Petrov has been pushing for a big fight for his fighter.

“This was an extremely impressive win for Pierce. He did the unthinkable and stopped Plania. Pierce is on a tear since we started working together, he won 9 in a row, 7 by knockout. He paid his dues, he is ready for the biggest names in the weight class.”- said Trifon Petrov. 

After last week’s win, Pierce proved once again he is a top 5 fighter in the world. He is a high risk fight for all those rated above him, so whenever Elijah Pierce’s name comes up most fighters don’t even want to entertain a conversion about possibly fighting him. 

“I know my manager has been working on trying to make the Ra’esee Aleem fight. I will take this fight in a heart beat. Him and I are the best USA based fighters in the weight class. Let’s run it.” said Pierce. 

When asked about Stephen Fulton, here is what Pierce had to say. 

“Although I think Fulton is a great fighter and I respect him, I have seen a lot of flaws I could exploit and he also showed how he does with big punchers. If he and I ever fight, it would be another one-sided beating just like what Inoue did to him… would he fight me though is the question?”

Pierce wouldn’t mind going overseas and fighting some of the big names there either.

“I’ve gone to people’s hometowns and embarrassed them in front of their families and friends. I wouldn’t mind going to Australia and doing the same to Sam Goodman.”- said Elijah Pierce. 

LAS VEGA, NV (July 20, 2023) – Super bantamweight contender, Ra’eese Aleem (20-1, 12 KOs), has broke his silence since suffering his first defeat as a professional, a hard-fought split decision loss to Sam Goodman (15-0, 7 KOs), a fight that took place in Goodman’s homeland of Australia last month.

One of the major hurdles Aleem faced during his journey to Australia was acclimating to the significant time change. LAS VEGAS – June 14, 2023 – Undefeated top super bantamweight contender Ra’eese Aleem declared his upcoming showdown against unbeaten Australian Sam Goodman “a chess match, but a brutal one,” as he prepares to step into the ring in an IBF 122-pound title eliminator that serves as the co-main event live on SHOWTIME on Saturday, June 17 (Sunday, June 18 in Australia) from the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia in a Premier Boxing Champions event.

The SHOWTIME BOXING INTERNATIONAL telecast begins at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT and is headlined by undefeated Australian superstar Tim Tszyu returning to the ring and defend his Interim WBO 154-pound title against Mexican contender Carlos Ocampo.

The event is promoted by No Limit Boxing and The Rose Brothers, in association with TGB Promotions.

On his matchup with Sam Goodman:

“I believe my fight with Goodman is going to be a war. He does a lot of nice things in the ring, but so do I. It’s a matchup of unique styles. He likes to fight off the back foot and I like to do multiple things. I’ll be throwing hard punches as always looking for the knockout. It’s going to be a chess match, but a brutal one.”

On his recent training camp:

“I kept my weight in check, so I feel strong going into this fight. I feel everything came together during this camp and I’m ready to go.”

On fighting outside of the U.S. for the first time:

“Deep down inside I’m excited to be fighting Goodman in his Australia, where he calls home. I’m a proud American and I’ll do anything to bring pride to our country. Although it’s just a boxing match, we’ll be going toe-to-toe, and I’ll be representing the great United States of America.”

On what a win will do for his career:

“Winning this fight will catapult me to a world title shot. Not only am I fighting someone in his own country, but it’s a title elimination bout to see who’s next to fight for the title. Aleem, hailing from the United States, is embracing stepping out of his comfort zone to fight Goodman in his home country of Australia. This will be the first time in his challenging career that Aleem will fight out of the USA. For years, Aleem has been ducked by all the top fighters in the division. QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA – June 2, 2023 – Undefeated Australian superstar Tim Tszyu will return to the ring and defend his Interim WBO 154-pound title against Mexican contender Carlos Ocampo headlining action live on SHOWTIME on Saturday, June 17 (Sunday, June 18 in Australia) from the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia in a Premier Boxing Champions event.

The SHOWTIME BOXING INTERNATIONAL telecast begins at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT and will also feature top super bantamweight contender Ra’eese Aleem taking on undefeated Australian Sam Goodman in an IBF 122-pound title eliminator in the co-main event.

Tszyu will make the first defense of his interim belt after capturing it in March on SHOWTIME with a career-best showing in stopping former champion Tony Harrison. He had originally been scheduled to face Undisputed Super Welterweight Champion Jermell Charlo in Las Vegas in January, before Charlo was forced to withdraw due to injury. With a victory on June 17 in his home country, Tszyu can lock in a date with Charlo later this year.

The 28-year-old Tszyu (22-0, 16 KOs) has quickly climbed the rankings in the 154-pound division with an all-action, aggressive style. The notable names on his resume include former welterweight champion Jeff Horn, whom Tszyu stopped in round eight, and Terrell Gausha, a top contender and member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic team. A native of Sydney, Australia, Tszyu made his U.S. and SHOWTIME debut against Gausha and showed his poise and toughness by rallying back from a first-round knockdown to win the fight via unanimous decision. Tszyu grew up playing soccer, but soon gravitated toward boxing. The decision led to him following in the legendary footsteps of his father, Kostya, who was an undisputed 140-pound champion and who was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2011.

“I was full training on Monday after the thing happened on Saturday,” said Tszyu to Australian press in reference to a dog bite on his right arm. “I’m not going to be limited at all…There’s a dog in me right now that’s about to come out.

“I’m a fighter. My job is to fight. I won’t sit on the couch and wait for [Jermell] Charlo’s hand to get better. I want to fight in the meantime,” added Tim Tszyu previously to the Australian media about his announcement for his title defense against Ocampo. “The fans deserve the fights…The Charlo fight is in the making, but I’m not underestimating Ocampo. I’ve got a hard task ahead of me.

“Technically, this fight is going to be much harder than my previous fights. The Mexican style will require something new in me and I expect it to be tough. Despite being Australian and on the other side of the globe, I’m headlining a fight on SHOWTIME for the third time. Is anyone else doing that? Everyone knows I’m coming to take over.”

The 27-year-old Ocampo (34-2, 22 KOs) rode a 12-fight winning streak into his last matchup, which saw him drop a decision to 154-pound contender Sebastian Fundora last October in a SHOWTIME main event. The 12 consecutive triumphs dated back to the only other loss of his career, which came to current unified welterweight champion Errol Spence, Jr. in a 2016 knockout defeat. During the 12-fight stretch, the Ensenda, Baja California, Mexico native scored nine of those victories by stoppage, including traveling to Mikael Zewski’s home country of Canada to stop the fan-favorite by ninth-round TKO.

“I’m looking forward to my fight against Tim Tszyu,” said Ocampo. “We are both warriors who go forward without fear. The fans will be the true winners that night, because I’m going after that title at all. Costs and it’s coming back to Mexico with me. He won’t want to hand it over to me, so I’ll just have to take it from him.”

Owning a top-10 ranking at 122-pounds from multiple sanctioning bodies, Aleem (20-0, 12 KOs) put on the most impressive performance of his career in January 2021, dominating in a battle of unbeatens by dropping Victor Pasillas four times before eventually stopping him in round 11. Raised in Michigan and training out of Las Vegas, the 32-year-old Aleem stopped seven-straight opponents before most recently earning decisions over Eduardo Baez in November 2021 and Mike Plania in September 2022. Aleem made his SHOWTIME debut in February of 2020 with a fourth-round stoppage of Adam Lopez on SHOBOX: The New Generation.

The 24-year-old Goodman (14-0, 7 KOs) scored a career-best victory in his last outing, announcing himself as a 122-pound contender with a dominant unanimous decision victory over former world champion T.J. Doheny in March. After an impressive amateur career that included four national championships and an appearance in the 2017 World Amateur Championships, the Australian from Albion Park, New South Wales turned pro in April 2018 and began compiling his unbeaten record.
