DETROIT (Aug. 20, 2026) – Undefeated rising prospects and former amateur standouts JuJu Ballo and Jonny Mansour joined local Michigan fighters for a media workout Thursday at former world champion Tony Harrison’s SuperBad Boxing Gym in preparation for their fights next Saturday, Aug. 29 at Fox Theatre in Detroit. Comerica Bank is the exclusive presenting partner of the Fox Theatre.

Fighting out of San Diego, cousins Ballo and Mansour will celebrate the city’s large Chaldean and Middle Eastern communities in their Detroit debuts as part of a stacked card featuring a heavyweight showdown between world-ranked contender Brandon Moore and former world title challenger Bryant Jennings. 

Rising prospects Sardius Simmons, Husam Al Mashhadi, Jasmine Hampton, Richard Fernandez Jr., Lance Smith and Sai Maldonado all competed in Thursday’s event at SuperBad Boxing Gym and will be featured in competitive undercard matchups on Wynn Records Network live at 7 p.m. REGISTER: https://wynnrecordsnetwork.com/

“Camp has been great.  It started in San Diego and I’ll finish it right here in Detroit.  All the people supporting us motivate me to push hard, so it feels like I’m right at home.

“I wrote a letter to myself two-and-a-half years ago saying that my goal was to fight in San Diego and then in Detroit, and here we are making it a reality.  Detroit is home to the biggest Iraqi community in the country, and it’s always been my dream to fight here.

“I went to Claressa’s (Shields) fight in February and that really inspired me to fight here.  I see what Salita Promotions is building here in Detroit and I wanted to be part of it.  I’m all about bringing the community together, and that’s what this event will do. 

“I know my opponent will be undefeated for nine more days.  After that he’ll have a loss on his record.

JuJu Ballo (3-0) – Undefeated Super Featherweight:

Sardius Simmons, (8-0, 4 KOs), Flint, Mich., Heavyweight:

“If the KO comes, it comes, but I won’t force it.  I hear my opponent can take a punch, but I’m my own test.  My test it to make sure I do everything inside and outside the ring to get the win.”

Lance Smith, (7-0, 5 KOs), Detroit Super Lightweight:

“I watched a few videos of my opponent.  She has a pitbull-style, always coming forward.  I just plan to box her to slow that down a little bit and control the fight.

Undefeated heavyweight prospect Sardius Simmons (8-0, 4 KOs), of Flint, Mich., will take on battle-tested veteran Detrailous “Teddy” Webster (9-5, 5 KOs), of Courtland, Miss., in an eight-round heavyweight bout. Simmons is a two-time National Golden Glove Champion who has fought 9 times in 13 months since turning professional. He’ll take on his toughest test in Webster, who lost a close decision to Lenier Perro, a once beaten heavyweight whose only loss is to Jarrell Miller. 

“Staying active is everything for a heavyweight, so coming straight off my June fight in Grand Rapids and getting right back in the ring at the Fox Theatre is exactly where I need to be,” said Simmons. “Everybody knows what happens when I step into that ring, and August 29 is no different. Make sure we have a pillow and blanket ready for him”  

Detroit resident and welterweight prospect Hussam Al Mashhadi (15-1, 12 KOs) will face Seantorious Martin (12-1, 7 KOs), of Atlanta, in an eight-round matchup of once-beaten welterweights. Mashhadi, a native of Iraq, has won via KO in seven of his last nine matches. The 5-foot-11 southpaw and big local draw will face a stiff challenge in Martin, whose only blemish came in a split decision loss to then-undefeated Tahmir Smalls. 

“It feels great to stay active and get back to work at the Fox Theatre,” said Mashhadi. “My last fight there was an incredible experience, and I’m coming to lock in another big win. The fans can expect a completely dominant performance from start to finish.”  

In a women’s bout on the undercard, undefeated prospect Jasmine Hampton (2-0, 2 KOs), of Ann Arbor, will take on Gloria Munguilla (8-3), of Los Angeles, in an eight-round flyweight bout. Hampton, who trains at Tony Harrison’s Super Bad Gym, is being fast-tracked and has knockouts in both her professional fights. The multi-time amateur champion earned a spot at U.S. Olympic Trials, narrowly missing out on making the U.S. Olympic team. The southpaw will face a significant step-up in Munguilla, who recently challenged for the WBC International Light Flyweight belt. 

“It feels amazing to stay active and step back into the building where it all started,” said Hampton. “The Fox Theatre holds a special place in my heart because of my pro debut and that viral knockout, but I’m an even more dangerous fighter today. The fans know what I bring to the ring, and on August 29, they’re getting pure excitement. She can bring everything she has, but know this, no one makes it to the final bell with me.” 

In a matchup of undefeated 118-pounders, explosive former amateur standout Richard Fernandez Jr. (5-0, 3 KOs) will face Joshua Moreno (4-0, 3 KOs), of Norcross, Ga., in a six-round bantamweight bout. The 23-year-old Fernandez won seven national titles as a member of Team USA before turning pro in 2024. The San Antonio native, who is promoted by G2G Promotions along with Mansour, Ballo and Maldonado, will take a step-up on Aug. 29 when he faces his first undefeated professional opponent in Moreno.

“I’m excited to be back on another great fight card,” Fernandez said. “I’ll be facing another undefeated opponent who’s 4-0 with 3 knockouts, and I have a lot of respect for anyone willing to step into the ring and put it all on the line. I’ve put in the work every day during this training camp, and I’m ready to give the fans a great fight. These are the kinds of challenges I’ve been asking for because they bring out the best in me. I’m grateful for every opportunity to prove myself and show everyone exactly who La Bombita is and what I’m capable of.” 

In the opening bout on Wynn Records Network, undefeated Puerto Rican prospect Caleb Tirado (2-0, 1 KO) will return in a six-round bantamweight bout. Tirado began boxing at age 9 and spent nearly two decades building one of the most decorated amateur careers in Puerto Rican boxing history. The 24-year-old competed in top international tournaments as an amateur, winning the 2023 Continental Championship alongside 12 Puerto Rico National Championships.

The Wynn broadcast will also feature highlights of hometown favorite and undefeated 140-pound prospect Lance Smith (7-0, 5 KOs), who will take on Marlin Sims (9-4, 4 KOs), of Gibbonton, Fla., in a six-round super lightweight bout. Smith, who also trains at Super Bad Boxing Gym, recently graduated with a Sports Management degree from Wayne State University in May 2026. He fights in honor of his father Stephen, who passed away in 2022.

Non-televised bouts on Aug. 29 include Savannah Tini (7-0, 2 KOs) in an eight-round women’s super lightweight bout and Sai Maldonado (2-0, 2 KOs), of Green Bay, in a four-round lightweight match.

Brandon Moore won a 10-round unanimous decision over DeAndre Savage in a heavyweight bout at the Fox Theatre in Detroit.

In round seven, Moore landed a chopping right to the side of the head the put Savage on the canvas.

Moore, 236.4 lbs of Polk County, FL won by scores of 100-89 twice and 99-90 and is now 19-1. Savage, 293.4 lbs of Flint, MI is 10-1.

“I am very happy with my performance. I came out here and got a spectacular and graceful win,” said Moore. “I knew he wouldn’t be able to move with me, and it was probably my easiest win. I would have liked to earn the stoppage, but I feel great about it. I boxed really well. And I loved being at the Fox Theatre. The Temptations, the Four Tops and now OJ Bam Moore.

“I am ready for what’s next and I want to fight Anthony Joshua,” he concluded. “I am going to speak it into existence.”

Scott and Curry Battle to Majority Draw in Unified Middleweight Title bout

Olivia Curry and Kaye Scott fought 10 an entertaining 10-round draw in a battle for the WBA/WBC Middleweight titles.

In round three, Curry was cut along the right eye from a head butt.

Scott won a scorecard 98-92 and two cards were even at 95-95.

Curry ,158.1 lbs of Chicago is 7-0-1. Scott, 158.8 lbs of Sydney, AUS is 4-1-1.

“I always feel grateful when both fighters come out safely and put on an entertaining fight. But I want to run it back,” said Curry. “She came with volume and used her amateur experience to throw a ton of little flurries. About halfway through, I made an adjustment and committed to the body more and increased my volume to edge out some of the later rounds.”

Da’Velle Smith Stops Janer Gonzalez in two

Da’Velle Smith remained undefeated with a second round stoppage of Janer Gonzalez in an eight-round light heavyweight bout

In round two, Smith put Gonzalez down with a left hook. Seconds later, ,it was a bigger left hook that put Gonzalez down for the 10-count at 2:59.

Smith, 171 lbs of Detroit is 14-0 with nine knockouts. Gonzalez, 167.2 lbs of Colombia is 24-9-1.

“I am feeling great, confident, and ready for what’s next,” said Smith, who is trained by the world renowned SugarHill Steward. “I was looking for the big punch early. But my coach told me to settle down and work the jab, throw some hooks and we got him out of there.

“It felt amazing to fight in that legendary building. It’s a great honor to fight in the city of Detroit and to fight at the Fox Theatre.”

Simmons Decisions Riley

Sardius Simmons won a six-round unanimous decision over Lemir Isom-Riley in a heavyweight bout.

Simmons, 219 lbs of Flint, MI won by scores of 59-55 and 58-56 twice and is now 4-0. Riley, 262 lba of Harrisburg, PA is 5-7.

Super Middleweight contender Da’velle Smith (13-0, 8KO’s) of Troy, returns to his hometown following a unanimous decision victory over Martez McGregor on the undercard of Claressa Shields’ July event at Little Caesars Arena. A rangy fighter with a stiff jab and explosive combinations, Smith has stopped more than half of his opponents and continues to sharpen under the tutelage of world renowned trainer Sugar Hill. At just 25, Smith already displays the poise of a seasoned contender while climbing the rankings.

“After my fight in July, I’m excited to be back in the ring fighting in my hometown, especially at the Fox Theatre,” said Smith. “It’s an honor to be a part of the rich boxing history in Detroit. The twenty-five-year-old, known for her accuracy in the ring, will make her fourth appearance fighting in the Motor City, putting her undefeated record on the line against Brazil’s Michaele Nogue (2-6-1).

I’ve been on the road for the past year where I was able to get used to being somewhat uncomfortable. Now, it’s time to come home and put on a show for my city. Light Heavyweight prospect Kahmel Makled (3-0, 3 KOs) fighting out of Macomb, Mich., returns after a sensational knockout performance in July on Claressa Shields’ undercard at Little Caesars Arena. A two-time Detroit Golden Gloves champion, Makled has ended each of his three pro fights inside the distance. He combines patience with explosive finishing power. In his last outing, a viral first-round knockdown and third-round stoppage underscored his reputation as a must-watch knockout artist. He now looks to extend his streak with another emphatic performance against Christian Juresic (2-1) on Sept. 19th.

“It’s an honor to be fighting in Detroit again,” said Makled. “My last fight was at LCA on the Claressa card July 26 and I got a crazy highlight KO-1 that’s at over 1 million views on social media. DETROIT (June 26, 2025) – Salita Promotions continues to sign promising prospects, especially focused on American heavyweights. The company’s most recent signing, decorated amateur champion Sardius Simmons of boxing rich Flint, Mich., is the latest. 

Simmons will make his professional debut on Friday, June 27, at The 2300 Arena in Philadelphia in an event promoted by Marshall Kaufman’s Kings’ Promotions.

The Flint native’s extraordinary amateur pedigree across 257 bouts includes two National Golden Gloves titles (2016, 2025), as well as a National PAL championship in 2014. Simmons is a product of the storied Burston Fieldhouse—the gritty community facility where Claressa Shields began her boxing journey. Simmons learned the ropes under Flint legends Jason Crutchfield and Ed Kendall and now works with renowned coach Jessy Addison. In 2017, Simmons stepped away from the ring for four years. The tragic loss of his brother to gun violence reignited his passion and purpose, driving a powerful return to the sport with deeper resolve than ever before.
