On March 30, 2024, the native of Vinnytsia, Ukraine, dominated former world champion Brian Mendoza at the T-Mobile Arena towards a 12-round unanimous decision. The victory earned the Manny Robles trained Bohachuk the WBC Interim Super Welterweight World Title.

Returning to Las Vegas on August 10, Bohachuk faced Vergil Ortiz Jr. in the first defense of his title at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Despite dropping the undefeated challenger twice over twelve rounds in a hotly contested clash, the judges awarded Ortiz Jr. a highly controversial majority decision.

Fighting for the first time at a Riyadh Season event in Saudi Arabia on December 21, Bohachuk displayed his full offensive arsenal stopping world ranked contender Ishmael Davis in the sixth round of their scheduled twelve round fight. (Bohachuk was originally scheduled to face former world champion Israil Madrimov who unfortunately fell ill two weeks prior.)

An eleven-year professional, the 29-year-old Mykal Fox, (25-4, 5 KOs), has battled a wealth of top competition including hard fought battles against world ranked contenders Egidijus Kavaliauskas, Shohajon Ergashev, DeMarcus Corley and Fazliddin Gaibnazarov.

Fighting on January 17, 2025 at the Commerce Casino Events Center, world ranked featherweight Omar Trinidad, (18-0-1, 13 KOs), won a ten-round shutout decision over perennial contender Mike Plania in front of a huge crowd of supporters for the popular Boyle Heights, CA native.

Currently world ranked #2 by the IBF, #6 by the WBC and #8 by the WBO and WBA in addition to #10 by Ring Magazine, Trinidad was victorious and impressive with three victories in 2024; Hector Andres Sosa (UD-12) on October 26, Viktor Slavinskyi (KO-10), on July 26 and Jose Perez (KO-8) on January 27, 2024. All three fights took place in front of sold-out crowds at the Commerce Casino Events Center where the all-action attraction has proven to be the most popular fighter in Southern California.

Trinidad will defend his WBC Continental Americas Title on May 19 in the ten-round co-main event against Alexander ‘Supernova’ Espinoza, (23-6-3, 8 KOs), of Managua, Nicaragua. Espinoza is currently riding a three-fight unbeaten streak, most recently battling to a ten-round draw against undefeated local favorite Carlos Gonzalez on February 15, 2025 at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT.

Fighting in 2024, Espinoza won an eight-round decision over then undefeated prospect Gustavo Rivera Rio on May 31 in Houston, TX followed by a decision victory over Diuhl Olguin in Lincoln, CA on September 21, 2024.

Trained by the renowned Manny Robles, Mizuki Hiruta, (7-0, 2 KOs), will make the fourth defense of her WBO Super Flyweight World Title against #1 Ranked Contender Carla Ayelen ‘Muneca’ Merino, (16-2, 4 KOs), of Cordoba, Argentina in a scheduled ten rounder. The colorful and exciting Hiruta impressed Los Angeles boxing fans in her United States debut with an eighth-round stoppage of world ranked Maribel Ramirez on January 17, 2025 as a large crowd of local Japanese sports fans stood and cheered throughout her dominating performance.

Currently riding a remarkable 13-fight winning streak, Merino challenges for her first world title following a seventh-round stoppage of Rosana Bermudez on November 16, 2024. This will be her first fight in the United States.

He simply has every tool at his disposal — speed, power and a killer instinct that you can’t teach. Serhii Bohachuk has incredible power and simply does not take a step back. Of his 24 victories, 23 have come within the distance, and in his only fight that did see the final bell, Serhii handily beat Brian Mendoza. CECILIA “FIRST LADY” BRAEKHUS, FORMER WORLD CHAMPION:
“Biggest thanks to Maricela for stepping up on such a short notice. You are an absolute hero for this. You are the definition of staying ready. We have been training partners, we have been friends. We are friends, but don’t let that fool you. On Saturday, we’re both coming for that belt.”

MARICELA “LA DIVA” CORNEJO, WORLD TITLE CONTENDER:
“It’s going to be an honor to share the ring with Cecilia “First Lady” Braekhus. I know both of us are going to come out fighting like Tom said, for all the marbles. We’ve worked together in camp, so we’re familiar with each other, but I know she’s only improved and so have I. We’re ready to take over the card.”
MANNY ROBLES, TRAINER TO SERHII BOHACHUK:
“Serhii Bohachuk could have taken an easy route and could have picked an easier opponent, but instead, he chose to fight Vergil Ortiz, and that just goes to show you what kind of fighter Serhii Bohachuk is. He is not afraid of a tough fight. You know, fighting one of the best fighters in the world as we know, an up-and-coming star in Vergil. This has the makings to be the fight of the year, it’s going to be great.”

ROBERT GARCIA, JR., TRAINER TO VERGIL ORTIZ, JR.:
“It’s not just about us, the trainers. It’s about the whole team working together and supporting each other and helping each other out. We’re happy to be here, Oscar, you know this, we’ve been here many times in huge fights. Saturday night, Vergil will become champion of the world. He’s ready, he’s ready to do it, and this is just the beginning of many, many more titles.”
BERNARD HOPKINS, HALL OF FAMER AND GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS PARTNER:
“Vergil is a surgeon from my eyes of looking at how he has evolved from fight to fight. I have seen it myself in real time, and so I would say that the main event is going to be one of those fights that Oscar, my partner, and myself and others, vouch to have the best fighters fighting the best. And now that we got some more excitement in the sport of boxing, it’s energized.”

Here is what the fighters had to say:
SERHII “EL FLACO” BOHACHUK, WBC INTERIM SUPER WELTERWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPION:
“I am feeling great. I wanted this fight because Vergil is a great fighter. Vergil was the best fighter in the 147-division and in the 154 division he is one of the best fighters. He is now ranked No.1 on BoxRec. I wanted a fight with him because he is one of the best boxers.”

“Yes, I may have sparred with him before but sparring is sparring. In a fight – it’s different. I know Vergil – he is strong, he is smart, he has a good punch, he has good conditioning. He is a good fighter, but I am better.”

“I want to show my fans great fights. I am interested in fighting the best boxers not the easy boxers. If it is not interesting to me, then it is not interesting to people.”

“I think this is going to be the best fight of the year because I know Vergil. He is strong and I am strong too.”

VERGIL ORTIZ JR., SUPER WELTERWEIGHT CONTENDER:
“I feel physically, mentally and emotionally great. I am ready to go – I am ready to get in the ring right now.”

“We know sparring is sparring. Fighting each other is different. With 10-ounce gloves with no headgear – let’s see what really happens.”

“This is the [division] where I need to be. I don’t have anything to prove to anyone.”

“All eyes are on Bohachuk right now. We’re not looking past him at all. We have a big test ahead with him and we are not worried about anyone else.”

“I think my power carries over to 154. I don’t think I’m some devastating knockout puncher. I never saw myself like that. I just pick the right shots, and I place them at the right place, at the right time. That’s all it is.”

WORLD TITLE CONTENDER VERGIL ORTIZ JR. AND GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS SIGN MULTI-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (July 11, 2024) – Golden Boy Promotions announced today the multi-year contract extension of undefeated super welterweight world title contender Vergil Ortiz Jr. (21-0, 21 KOs). Ortiz Jr. has been signed to Golden Boy since his promotional debut in 2016 and has become one of the biggest knockout monsters of the sport, boasting a 100-percent knockout ratio. The 26-year-old is on the cusp of world championship stardom, with a fight scheduled against Serhii Bohackuk for the WBC Interim Super Welterweight World Championship on Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

“Me resigning with Golden Boy is a show of loyalty, and it shows the mutual confidence we both have in each other that we will both bring each other success and to the top,” said Vergil Ortiz Jr. “I want to thank Golden Boy and everyone there for believing in me, my dad for always making sure I’m at the top of my game, my manager Rick for getting this deal done, and to all my supporters who enter this new chapter of my career with me.”

“There is not a more dedicated fighter in the sport of boxing than Vergil Ortiz, Jr, and we are incredibly proud to re-sign him at such an important time – right before his first shot at a world title,” said Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya. “With this signing, Vergil is sending a clear message about his commitment and loyalty to Golden Boy and we will reward that commitment by working shoulder-to-shoulder with him as he becomes the next superstar of boxing.”

“I’m very happy my son Vergil has resigned with Golden Boy; I feel this is the right place and the people to make all his dreams come true,” said father and trainer Vergil Ortiz Sr. “I am very proud of my son. It’s been a long journey and a lot of people have had a major impact on my son’s life. I want to thank Hector Beltran, Dr. Bautista, Rosario Solis, Robert Garcia, Wayne Maddox, my mother, and Rick Mirigian for all they have done for us. I also want to give a special thanks to Gene Vivero and Vivero Boxing Gym. Without him, Vergil and I wouldn’t be where we are today. As you look down from above, Gene, I hope we are always making you proud. Lastly, I would like to say thank you to my son Vergil Jr. for never giving up on his dreams.”

“Let’s make it simple, Golden Boy showed Vergil how special he was the only way you can: by writing a big check and going all in on him with one of the biggest contracts in the sport,” said manager Rick Mirigian. “He was treated like Lebron James as a free agent and the Lakers ponied up when it counted. Golden Boy believes in him and when your promoter believes there is nothing more special and motivating. Vergil will be a World Champion on August 10th and one of the greats in the years to come and the future of the sport.”

The undefeated knockout monster Vergil Ortiz Jr. is one of the most dangerous fighters of this generation. His love for boxing began at five years old when he was introduced to the sport by his father. As a decorated amateur, he is a seven-time national champion and winner of the 2013 Junior Olympics with an impressive record of 140-20. He went on to sign with Golden Boy in 2016 and made his professional debut on July 30 at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino with a first-round knockout of Julio Rodas. Since then, he has built an enviable fighter resume that reflects 100-percent knockouts, and has made some of the world’s toughest contenders fold to his tremendous power including Antonio “Relentless” Orozco, Brad “King” Solomon, Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker and Michael McKinson to name a few.

KNOCKOUTS COLLIDE: UNDEFEATED KO-MONSTER VERGIL ORTIZ JR. TO CHALLENGE CURRENT INTERIM CHAMPION SERHII BOHACHUK FOR WBC INTERIM SUPER WELTERWEIGHT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE

LAS VEGAS (July 8, 2024): A collision course of knockout power will come to a head as the undefeated knockout monster Vergil Ortiz Jr. (21-0, 21 KOs) of Grand Prairie, Texas will challenge another knockout artist representing Vinitza, Ukraine, Serhii “El Flaco” Bohachuk (24-1, 23 KOs) for Bohachuk’s WBC Interim Super Welterweight World Championship title. A limited amount of Golden Boy VIP Experience tickets will also be available for purchase with exclusive merchandise and fight night upgrades included. Standard and VIP tickets can be purchased at AXS.com or GoldenBoyPromotions.com.“This fight is the fight that solidifies me as a top 154 fighter,” said Vergil Ortiz, Jr. “This is also the fight that shows everyone that nothing has changed: I am still one of the best fighters in the world.”One of the most dangerous fighters of this boxing era, the undefeated world title contender Vergil Ortiz Jr. boasts a 100-percent knockout ratio. He broke into the super welterweight division with a first-round knockout of Ghanaian warrior Fredrick Lawson this past January 6 and followed it up with a first-round stoppage of Thomas Dulorme on April 27. A native of Grand Prairie, Texas, his string of 21 knockouts began since his professional debut in 2016 and has made some of the world’s toughest contenders fold to his tremendous power including Antonio “Relentless” Orozco, Brad “King” Solomon, Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker and Michael McKinson to name a few.“I fought hard to win the WBC Interim World Title and now I am looking to defend this title for my goal of becoming the ultimate World Champion,” said Serhii Bohachuk. “I know Vergil Ortiz, he is a very tough competitor, but on August 10 I will show that I am the best in the division.”Serhii Bohachuk’s resume of knockouts speaks for itself, his grit and determination landing him the career opportunity of a lifetime to face Argentinian former world champion Brian Mendoza for the interim WBC Super Welterweight World Championship on March 30. Bohachuk’s career-best performance to date, he scored a wide-points victory over the world contender. The highly decorated Ukrainian fighter’s only blemish comes from an eight-round TKO he suffered against Brandon Adams in March 2021 which he has avenged with a string five brutal knockout victories.“Talk about bombs away…with 44 knockouts in 45 victories between Vergil and Bohachuk, there is almost no way this fight is going the distance,” said Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya. “Golden Boy doesn’t just build champions, we build stars — and when Vergil emerges victorious, he will be the next superstar of boxing.”“Serhii has gone through so much, enduring the invasion of his country while waiting for his visa to come back to the United States,” said Founder and Managing Director of 360 Promotions Tom Loeffler. “He received special permission as a professional athlete to continue his boxing career. He won the WBC Interim World Title and now looks forward to defending it while fighting for Ukraine in the ring. Vergil Ortiz is a very dangerous opponent, but nothing will stop Serhii from being victorious.”“Two Knockout artists meet in a blockbuster,” said Jared Kass, SVP North America DAZN. “Vergil is one of the best around and in Bohachuk, he is fighting a very live opponent. This subscription fight sits in the middle of a very busy schedule for DAZN which sees William Zepeda, Boots Ennis and Terrence Crawford all headline on the platform. Tune in for another great fight night live from Las Vegas on August 10, only on DAZN.””Vergil will become a World Champion on August 10th and will begin his journey to dominate the 154lb division,” said Manager to Vergil Ortiz, Rick Mirigian.Information on the undercard and credentials will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

*TIM TSZYU VS. SEBASTIAN FUNDORA*

The son of International Boxing Hall of Famer Kostya Tszyu, the 29-year-old Tszyu (24-0, 17 KOs) comes off a red-hot 2023 campaign that saw him elevated to world champion at 154-pounds while defeating former world champion Tony Harrison, top contender Brian Mendoza and former title challenger Carlos Ocampo. A native of Sydney, Australia, Tszyu made his U.S debut against U.S. Olympian Terrell Gausha in March 2022, earning a unanimous decision. Tszyu grew up playing soccer, but soon gravitated toward boxing. The decision led to him following in the legendary footsteps of his father, Kostya, who was an undisputed 140-pound champion.

Fundora (20-1-1, 13 KOs) rocketed to the top of the super welterweight division with a fan-friendly style and bruising toughness in the ring. His unbeaten streak came to an end in his last outing, as he got caught and was defeated by Brian Mendoza in April of last year. At nearly 6-foot-6, the 26-year-old southpaw from Coachella, Calif., towers over his opponents, but has displayed an appetite for toe-to-toe combat from short range. Fundora showed his mettle in April 2022, battling the hard-hitting Erickson Lubin in an instant 2022 Fight of the Year contender. Despite both men hitting the canvas, Fundora stood tall in the end, prompting Lubin’s corner to stop the fight at the end of the ninth round. Fundora represents a boxing family, as he is trained by his father Freddy alongside his younger sister, IBF Flyweight World Champion Gabriela.

*ROLANDO ROMERO VS. ISAAC CRUZ*

Part of the Mayweather Promotions stable, Romero (15-1, 13 KOs) is known for his brash talk that he backs up with power in both hands as well as an exciting, unique style that makes him a must-see whenever he steps between the ropes. The 28-year-old rose to the ranks of world champion in his last outing, stopping Ismael Barroso in round nine to win the title in May. It was Romero’s first return to the ring since a May 2022 defeat against three-division champion Gervonta Davis. Prior to the Davis fight, the Las Vegas resident Romero won an interim title in August 2020 by earning a close but unanimous decision over then unbeaten Jackson Marinez.

One of the most exciting fighters in boxing, the 25-year-old Cruz (25-2-1, 17 KOs) has racked up three consecutive victories since dropping a competitive and entertaining decision against undefeated superstar Gervonta Davis in December 2021. A native of Mexico City, Cruz shot up the lightweight rankings in 2020, announcing his presence with an electrifying first-round knockout over veteran Diego Magdaleno in October before adding dominant decisions over Francisco Vargas and Jose Matias Romero. After stopping former champion Yuriorkis Gamboa in April 2022 and veteran contender Eduardo Ramirez in September 2022, Cruz returned this past July to turn away the previously unbeaten Giovanni Cabrera by decision.

*ERISLANDY LARA VS. MICHAEL ZERAFA*

Lara (29-3-3, 17 KOs) was the longest reigning 154-pound world champion before he lost a tough split-decision to Jarrett Hurd in a 2018 title unification match that earned “Fight of the Year” from the BWAA. Lara returned from that fight and battled former 154-pound world titleholder Brian Castaño to an exciting draw in another narrow fight that could have gone Lara’s way. Lara most recently moved up to middleweight, capturing his WBA title with a first round knockout of Thomas LaManna in May 2021, before KO’ing Gary O’Sullivan in May 2022. Lara faced a slew of the top 154-pounders in the sport, including Canelo Alvarez, ahead of his middleweight debut.

Melbourne, Australia’s Zerafa (31-4, 19 KOs) is long established as one of his country’s top contenders and has won four-straight to earn the title fight on March 30. Zerafa has split a pair of matchups against former champion and Australian rival Jeff Horn in addition to a first round knockout of longtime contender Anthony Mundine. The 31-year-old previously fought stateside in 2015, as he dropped a contest to former middleweight champion Peter Quillin. The veteran has also challenged former champion Kell Brook and defeated previously unbeaten fighters Danilo Creati and Isaac Hardman in his last two fights.

*JULIO CESAR MARTINEZ VS. ANGELINO CORDOVA*

Trained by the renowned Eddy Reynoso, Martínez (20-2, 15 KOs) first captured his flyweight world title with a ninth-round stoppage of Cristofer Rosales in his stateside debut in December 2019. The 29-year-old has gone on to defend the title five times, besting previously unbeaten opponents Jay Harris and Samuel Carmona, while most recently stopping Ronal Batista in May. A native of Mexico City, Martínez’s only blemish since a split-decision loss in his pro debut was a decision loss to future Hall of Famer Roman Gonzalez in March 2022.

The 28-year-old Cordova (18-0-1, 12 KOs) earned a career-best victory in his last outing, as he bested former world champion Angel Acosta on his way to a 10-round unanimous decision victory last April. A native of Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela, Cordova has yet to taste defeat since debuting in 2017, with a draw in just his fourth fight as the only blemish. He made his U.S. debut in June 2022, defeating Axel Aragon Vega by decision before the triumph over Acosta.

*ELIJAH GARCIA VS. KYRONE DAVIS*

Fighting out of Phoenix, Arizona, García (16-0, 13 KOs) earned three impressive victories in 2023, kicking off his year last March with a knockout of the previously unbeaten Amilcar Vidal. He followed that up with a pair of performances on the undercards of two of the biggest events of the year, first defeating Kevin Salgado on the Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia pay-per-view in April before knocking out Armando Resendiz on the Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo pay-per-view in September. The precocious García has moved fast since turning pro in 2020 and has knocked out seven of his last nine opponents.

The 29-year-old Davis (18-3-1, 6 KOs) picked up two victories in 2023, dominating Cristian Fabian Rios in January before scoring a unanimous decision over Cruse Stewart in December. Those victories came after a run that saw Davis battle two-time champion Anthony Dirrell to a draw in February 2021, before stepping in as a late replacement two fights later to drop a hard-fought contest against super middleweight superstar David Benavidez. An amateur standout representing Wilmington, Delaware, Davis trains in Philadelphia under the tutelage of top trainer Stephen “Breadman” Edwards.

*SERHII BOHACHUK VS. BRIAN MENDOZA*

A 28-year-old from Ukraine, Bohachuk (23-1, 23 KOs) now resides in Los Angeles, where he’s fought out of since turning pro. The 28-year-old has won five-straight outings, including 2023 stoppages of Nathaniel Gallimore and Patrick Allotey. This run has come after a defeat to Brandon Adams in March 2021 and has seen him rise back up the 154-pound rankings. He won his first 18 fights after turning pro in 2017 following an extensive amateur career.

Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico and now fighting out of Las Vegas, Mendoza (22-3, 16 KOs) will return to the ring after traveling to Australia last October to challenge Tim Tszyu for his world title in a matchup that saw him lose by decision. Prior to that fight, The 30-year-old scored one of the year’s biggest upsets in April as he stopped the previously unbeaten Fundora with a sensational knockout in round seven, solidifying his own status at 154 pounds. Reinvigorated since teaming with renowned trainer Ismael Salas, Mendoza had previously knocked out former unified 154-pound champion Jeison Rosario in November 2022. Mendoza had put together a three-fight winning streak since dropping a decision to highly touted knockout artist Jesus Ramos in September 2021.

SEBASTIAN FUNDORA: “BOHACHUK AND I HAVE SPARRED THOUSANDS OF ROUNDS TOGETHER…I WOULDN’T RATHER HAVE MY FIRST WORLD TITLE  FIGHT AGAINST ANYBODY ELSE.”

LOS ANGELES – February 28, 2024 – Top super welterweight contender Sebastian Fundora and hard-hitting Serhii Bohachuk will meet for the vacant WBC Super Welterweight World Championship on Saturday, March 30, but it will be far from the first time they’ve shared a ring, as Fundora explained ahead of his opening bout on the PBC Pay-Per-View available on Prime Video from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

“We used to spar Bohachuk all the time,” said Fundora. “I sparred him a lot before I faced Ve’Shawn Owens and the fight after that. We stopped sparring around 2019, maybe early 2020. Bohachuk and I have sparred thousands of rounds together. But that’s in the past, we’re both in different places now as fighters.

“It’s an honor to have shared so many rounds with him. I wouldn’t rather have my first world title fight against anybody else. He’s a come forward fighter who throws a lot. I know he might be stronger now, but that same aggressive style is what I see. My job is to show the difference between us on March 30.”

A native of Coachella, California, Fundora and his father and trainer Freddy have moved training camp up to the Tehachapi mountains in Southern California. Despite the change in scenery, little has changed for the close-knit team.

“We’re up in the mountains this time with the snow, rain and bears, but other than that it’s the same camp and same team that’s gotten us to this point,” said Fundora. “We’ve been getting great work here so far and we’re on track for March 30. For me, training camp is about doing what I’m told. It’s a small circle, and my dad is the leader of it all. If I get out of line, he’s right there to show us the better path.”

Fundora will return to the ring for the first time since suffering the first and only defeat of his pro career, via KO last April against Brian Mendoza. Ahead on all three cards at the time of the stoppage, Fundora explained how he was able to move on quickly from the defeat and while there are some changes that have been made, his signature all-action style remains.

“The next day after the loss we went hunting,” said Fundora. “My dad told me not to worry about it too much. As fast as you go up in this sport, you can go down. I took maybe a month off to enjoy myself, but then I was right back into camp. We took more of a ‘washing the hands’ type of approach to the loss. All you’re really going to see from going back is the knockout. During the fight, I know I was ahead, but it went the way it went. So you have to throw it all out and move on.

“I’m a more mature Towering Inferno, but fans can expect a show like always. I don’t plan on taking that out of my game. But overall it’s going to be the best Sebastian Fundora.”

As he heads into March 30, Fundora will look to become the second world champion in his family, after his younger sister Gabriela captured the IBF Flyweight World Championship last October. For the elder son, he believes it’s an opportunity to stamp the legacy of his father’s training talent.

“It’s a blessing to be in this position. My sister just won a title, so it’s time for me to catch up,” said Fundora. “It’s my turn and I’m happy that if everything goes right, my father will have two world champions. It shows how good of a coach he is, even if he likes to stay behind the scenes. It shows us that we’re the real deal.”

With a win against Bohachuk, Fundora will be in line for a potential unification opportunity against reigning WBO 154-pound World Champion Tim Tszyu, who competes in the March 30 main event. A possible clash between the two would pit two action fighters, and perhaps the top two fighters overall currently campaigning in the division, against each other.

“Of course I’d want to face Tim Tszyu next if we both win,” said Fundora. “He’s the number one guy in the division and I’d be right under him after my fight. I want that fight and I’ll be waiting for it.”

Tickets for the live event on March 30, which is promoted by TGB Promotions, are available now through AXS.com. The main event is promoted in association with No Limit Boxing.

The event is promoted by TGB Promotions. The main event is promoted in association with No Limit Boxing.

Here is what the press conference participants had to say Wednesday from The Conga Room at L.A. Live:

KEITH THURMAN

“It’s been a long time coming. I’m looking forward to continuing my legacy with this fight March 30. Once again I get to kick off a major event. This is what boxing is all about. Action. World Class.

“He’s a slow-footed fighter with a Mexican style. I’ll meet him in the middle of the ring. He’s gonna go home crying.

“They say Tszyu comes from ‘down under’, well I am trying to put you under, mate. He might have watched the video on me, but he doesn’t know. He might have signed the contract, but he doesn’t know what he just did. Bitter for you, but sweet for me!

“Moving up in weight is just something that happens in boxing. I love the legacy at 147 pounds and I got what I could get out of that division.

“Every time I step into the ring, I’m living out my American dream. We all know the sacrifices we make, and those sacrifices make us who we are. They’re truly worth it. I’ve done a lot at 147 and I want to do great things at 154 pounds. You put me in the ring, and I’m gonna rise to the top.

“I’m just looking for great fights and great action. Tim Tszyu is filling that void right now and providing me with the fight I want. He’s trying to open up the gates to his new era, but it’s my job to close the door shut, right in his face.

“Nobody wants to shut the haters up like Keith Thurman. Get your tickets today and be in the building. It’s very simple, you’re gonna hear one sound only, and that’s boom, boom, boom.”

TIM TSZYU

“It’s an honor to be in this position. You only launch something like this once, and I want to launch it in spectacular fashion.

“I want him to bring this same energy to the fight, and not run around like a gazelle. Because I’m definitely knocking him out in under 12 rounds.

“I don’t care about the critics. I’m going to fight whoever I can. I’m John Wick and there’s a list of names that I’m trying to tick off. This is the takeover for me.

“My goal is for the Tszyu name to be the greatest boxing family that ever lived. We’ve made it this far and we’ll see how far we can go.

“I know what Keith is and I know what he’s done, but I think the time is done for him. Now it’s a different era and it’s the ‘Tim Tszyu Era’. I’m not just planning to beat Keith Thurman, I’m planning to make this a spectacle.

“It’s a blessing to be here. It’s been a long time in the process for me. As soon as my fight finished against Brian Mendoza, I needed the next one. It was months in the making and now we’ve got a great opponent in Keith Thurman. I was like a kid getting a present from Santa Claus when they told me this fight was made.

“I know what I possess and what I’m gonna bring. There aren’t any old-school fighters like me anymore. I’m willing to fight anyone and I do damage when I’m in the ring.”

ROLANDO ROMERO

“To be the first superstar on Prime Video, I have to knock Cruz out. That’s it. Has to be a knockout.

“Odds are just statistics and they’re making him the favorite because he’s had more wins since fighting Gervonta Davis than I have. I’ve been an underdog before and I’m gonna keep betting on ‘Rolly’.

“The other fighters at 140 pounds are irrelevant. I’m only focused on being a part of this huge show with a huge platform.

“I’m used to being in this position. I carried the promotion for my fight against Gervonta Davis. So this is nothing new to me.

“Chihuahua, poodle, I don’t know he kinda looks like a little fat pug right now. That’s self-explanatory. Tune into the fight March 30.”

ISAAC CRUZ

“I’ll let him talk right now, because he’s gonna be the one crying like a chihuahua when the fight is over.

“My goal is to shut ‘Rolly’ up and show the world that I am a true Mexican world champion. I’m bringing that belt back home.

“I’m thankful to everyone for making this fight possible. I can’t wait to put on a show in the ring on March 30.

“We’ve kept working time after time and fight after fight. That’s how we earned another world title opportunity.

“I feel like I’m ready for this challenge. I’m a proud Mexican fighter and I’m going to show what I can do on March 30.

“I’m dedicating this fight to my kids. This fight is all about my family. I’ve only gotten to where I am thanks to them and their support.

“I want the fans to be the true winners on this night. That’s why I want to go take the belt from ‘Rolly’ and give the fans what they want.”

ERISLANDY LARA

“I promise that I’m going to be ready for Zerafa and that everyone tuning in is going to see a great fight.

“I’m going to put pressure on my opponent. I’m coming full-throttle. The fans can expect me to make this a very difficult night for Zerafa. I’m trying to knock him out.

“I feel good and I feel strong. I don’t think I need to prove anything. I just have to showcase who I am. I don’t think I’m going to have much trouble showing that.

“I’ve gained so much experience in this sport and that’s allowed me to pick the right times to go for knockouts. Lately that’s what I’ve been able to get done.

“I know that I’ve got a young opponent in front of me who’s going to give it everything he has to win the world title. But I’ve got a lot to offer to stop him and you’re going to see it on March 30.

“I’m very comfortable training and living in Las Vegas and I know that’s going to help me be at my best when the bell rings.”

SEBASTIAN FUNDORA

“Last time I came out I took my first loss, but we’ve been training hard waiting for this moment. I’m ready to do whatever I have to do to win this world title. Serhii and I know each other and I know we’re both here to give the fans a great fight.

“I don’t think I necessarily learned anything from the loss, but it was a reminder that you can’t mess around. I fell asleep for a second and I paid for it. I’ve had a year to regroup and now I have this opportunity to fight for this title. We’re gonna show up.

“Everyone that I fight is a big hitter. I only fight the best of the division. I’ll fight Tim Tszyu next. I want to be the best 154 in the world.

“Everybody keeps telling me there’s never been a brother and sister duo to be world champion at the same time. So if my and [IBF Flyweight World Champion] Gabriela can do it, it’d really be historic.”

SERHII BOHACHUK

“I have experience sparring Fundora and I know that this is a serious fight. This is the biggest fight of my career.

“This is my first title fight and it’s the fight of my life. I’m giving 100 percent. I know that I have to be my best. I’m going to be ready.

“I’ve learned a lot from mistakes that I might have made in past fights. It all makes me a better fighter today. That’s what I’ll bring into this fight.

“I’m going to show my fans and the whole boxing world a very strong performance when we get into the ring on March 30.”

TOM BROWN, President of TGB Promotions

“We’ll be detailing the 2024 schedule in the coming weeks and we look forward to bringing the biggest and best fights to an extended audience with Prime Video.

“Keith is the former unified welterweight world champion and his only loss was a split decision to the legendary Manny Pacquiao. Although Keith is moving up in weight, Keith’s a big man and his whole amateur career was at 152 pounds.

“Tim Tszyu is a reigning, undefeated champion whose dream is about to come true when he headlines this massive pay-per-view event. I was there in 1995 when his father made his Las Vegas debut and won his first world title, and now Tim is a rising star who’s getting better and better with each fight. The winner of this main event will be considered the best 154 pounder in the world.

“They call this a co-main event, but you can take the word ‘co’ out of this fight. This is a main event in its own right with ‘Rolly’ defending his world title against the all-action Isaac Cruz.”

“We also have Erislandy Lara, the oldest reigning world champion, defending his title against his mandatory challenger Michael Zerafa, and then in the opening fight Sebastian Fundora against Serhii Bohachuk has ‘Fight Of The Year’ written all over it. You won’t want to miss any of this card and I look forward to seeing everyone here.”

LAS VEGAS – January 25, 2024 – A pair of all-action, high-stakes showdowns will top a stacked four-fight pay-per-view event as two-time world champion Keith “One Time” Thurman duels rising star and reigning world champion Tim Tszyu in the main event while 140-pound world champion Rolando “Rolly” Romero and Mexican star Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz meet in the co-main event on Saturday, March 30 in the inaugural PBC Pay-Per-View available on Prime Video from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The card marks the debut event for PBC Pay-Per-View available through Prime Video since the parties announced a landmark, multiyear rights agreement in December. In addition to the PPV being available for purchase on Prime Video, regardless of Prime membership, fans will also be able to continue to access the telecast through traditional cable and satellite outlets.

The pay-per-view will also see Cuban star and reigning WBA Middleweight World Champion Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara defend his belt against No. 1 rated mandatory challenger Michael Zerafa, plus all-action super welterweight sensation Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora will meet streaking contender Serhii Bohachuk in the pay-per-view opener.

*Ticketing information to be announced shortly. The event is promoted by TGB Promotions. The main event is promoted in association with No Limit Boxing.

“This first show with PBC on Prime Video is jam-packed with fan-friendly matchups featuring stars who are established as the best of their generation and new stars who are looking to make a claim to lead the next generation of champions,” said Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions. “Keith Thurman vs. Tim Tszyu gives each fighter a chance to debut 2024 with a statement, while ‘Rolly’ Romero and ‘Pitbull’ Cruz can send their ascending stock skyrocketing by emerging victorious. With two more clashes rounding out the pay-per-view, this lines up as another night from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas that you’ll want to stay glued to your seat for.”

“This is an historic event and puts the Tszyu name right back at the pinnacle of boxing where it belongs,” said George Rose, CEO of No Limit Boxing. “Tim only wanted the big names, legacy fights, and Keith Thurman is exactly that. It doesn’t end well for Thurman though as the world is going to realize Tim Tszyu is about to take over the sport. Thank you Premier Boxing Champions, TGB Promotions and Prime Video for what is going to be an incredible night of boxing.”

*KEITH THURMAN VS. TIM TSZYU*

The main event will see the former unified world champion Thurman, a long-time stalwart at welterweight, take his first crack at the super welterweight division as he faces the undefeated reigning WBO 154-pound World Champion Tszyu in a 12-round non-title showdown.

Clearwater, Florida’s Thurman (30-1, 22 KOs) earned his “One Time” moniker by talking the talk and delivering with highlight-reel KOs. He has assembled one of the most impressive resumes among the top welterweights of this generation, having defeated former champions Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia and Robert Guerrero. That showdown with Garcia saw him become a unified world champion in a rare unification bout between undefeated welterweight world champions. Thurman’s only blemish came in a 2019 Fight of the Year against boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, with Thurman ending up on the wrong side of a narrow split-decision. Most recently, Thurman bested former world champion and current highly ranked welterweight Mario Barrios by unanimous decision in February 2022.

“I’m back in action and I’m happy to be a part of this first event with PBC on Prime Video,” said Thurman. “Tszyu stands out as an exceptional fighter, and I’ve always held admiration for his performances. His distinctive style provides the perfect stage for me to exhibit the relentless dedication I’ve poured into training, refining my skills, and fortifying my mental game. This fight promises a spectacular showdown between two of the most electrifying fighters in the sport, an event that demands attention. Good things come to those that wait. Them days are over, bright lights and action are up ahead. Let’s shake up the world of boxing one more time on Prime Video.”

“I’ve been ready and waiting to headline a historic event like this in the U.S. for a very long time and it’s an honor that I don’t take lightly,” said Tszyu. “My father did it, and was at the top of the world for a decade, now it’s my turn. Thurman is a great fight, he’s tricky, tough and he’s mixed it with the very best the sport has seen. This is a new era now. It’s the Tszyu era. On March 30, everyone who tunes into this pay-per-view is going to see for themselves.”

*ROLANDO ROMERO VS. ISAAC CRUZ*

The WBA Super Lightweight World Champion Romero will make the first defense of his world title in a 12-round matchup against the top lightweight contender Cruz, who will look to debut at 140-pounds with a championship-winning performance in the night’s co-main event.

“This is gonna be Rolly versus the Chihuahua in the ring on March 30,” said Romero. “I’m gonna stay world champ and be the first superstar on Prime Video. Just make sure you buy your tickets or tune in on pay-per-view, don’t miss this one.”

“I’m very happy and extremely motivated to have this opportunity to fight for the world title,” said Cruz. “I’ve worked extremely hard to earn this shot. I’ve tried to fight other big names, but ‘Rolly’ was the only one to step up and accept the challenge. He’s got power and courage, and he comes to knock you out. That’s going to make this a great fight on March 30. I’m thankful to my promoter Manny Pacquiao and my whole team for helping secure this fight for me. I will leave the ring as world champion on March 30.”

*ERISLANDY LARA VS. MICHAEL ZERAFA*

Unbeaten in two fights at middleweight, Lara will defend his WBA Middleweight World Championship against the WBA’s top-rated mandatory challenger Zerafa in a 12-round attraction on the pay-per-view lineup.

“I’m looking forward to getting back in the ring and defending my title, especially on this first event with PBC on Prime Video,” said Lara. “I feel like I’m the modern day Bernard Hopkins and that I can keep doing this for years. I know that Zerafa has been waiting patiently for this opportunity, so he’s going to be hungry on fight night. But he’s going to realize that he’s now on the world class level facing the best fighter in the division. It’s an honor to be on this great card that’s going to be action packed from start to finish.”

“This is long overdue ever since I became the mandatory,” said Zerafa. “I’m very thankful to everyone who made this fight happen. Come fight night, the world will see why I deserve this opportunity and Australia will have a new world champion.”

*SEBASTIAN FUNDORA VS. SERHII BOHACHUK*

Already established as a must-see attraction, Fundora will return to face fellow highly ranked super welterweight Bohachuk in a 12-round fight for the vacant Interim WBC Super Welterweight Title to kick off the pay-per-view telecast.

“Training camp is going great and I’ve been working hard to get ready for this fight,” said Fundora. “I train 100% for every fight, so it’s been getting back to work as usual for me. I know I’ll win because my objective is still the same as before, to become world champion in the super welterweight division.”

“I can’t wait for this opportunity to fight for the title,” said Bohachuk. “I’ve worked my entire career for the chance to reach my dream in this sport. I will give everything to win this fight, because I’m not just fighting for myself, but also for my war-torn country of Ukraine.”

In the evening’s co-feature, Southern California favorite Omar Trinidad, (13-0-1, 10 KOs), continued to shine with a sixth-round stoppage of Roberto Meza, (15-4-1, 8 KOs). In a battle of undefeated light heavyweights, Umar Dzambekov, (6-0, 5 KOs), of Austria, defeated Kwame Ritter, (10-1, 8 KOs), over eight rounds. Scores were 79-73, 79-73 and 78-74.

The hard-hitting southpaw took control of the fight after an even first two rounds using an aggressive body attack to score throughout the second half of the fight.

TROIS-RIVIÈRES, Canada (March 4, 2022) – Like so many fellow brave Ukrainians, Serhii “El Flaco” Bohachuk (20-1, 20 KOs) has returned home in defense of his country fighting alongside his compatriots against the Russian invasion, which has forced his withdrawal from a scheduled March 25th showdown with Canadian super welterweight Mikaël Zewski (35-2, 23 KOs).

Vidéotron Coliseum in Trois-Rivières, Canada, will host its inaugural professional boxing event, starting at 7 p.m. ET, which is presented by Mise-O-Jeu, co-promoted by a Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) with Probellum, and in collaboration with Deacon Sports and Entertainment Ltd.

Bohachuk joins other Ukrainian fighters who have joined the fight such as retired former world heavyweight champions Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko, as well as reigning World unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and 3-time, 3-division World title-holder Vasiliy Lomachenko.

Zewski, a former IBF North American and WBO NABO welterweight champion, is fighting at super welterweight for only the second time. His new opponent in the 10-round main event for the WBC Continental Americas Super Welterweight Championship is former world title challenger Carlos “Chema” Ocampo Manriquez (32-1, 20 KOs), of Mexico, whose lone pro loss was in 2018 to IBF Welterweight World Champion Errol Spence, Jr.

“We applaud Bohachuk’s courage to return home and fight with his countrymen in a real war,” GYM president Yvon Michel said. “Our hearts and prayers are with him and all Ukrainians who we wish for peace. Mikael is still in a very tough fight against Manriquez, the WBO’s No. 8-rated super welterweight.

“GYM is excited to co-promote this stacked card with our partner, Probellum, in our boxing series. Not only do we have some of the best Canadian boxers in action, but we are also thrilled to have three Olympians fighting in separate bouts, Arthur Biyarslanov, Joseph Ward, and Herbert Carvalho Sousa.”

In the 10-round co-featured event, undefeated super lightweight Biyarslanov (9-0, 7 KOs) takes on Roberto Verdugo (10-3-1, 4 KOs), of Mexico. Fighting out of Toronto, Biyarslanov represented Canada in the 2016 Olympic Games. Verdugo is unbeaten in his last 6 fights with 5 wins and 1 draw.

Undefeated Irish super lightweight prospect Joseph “Mighty” Ward (6-1, 3 KOs) is scheduled to fight an opponent to named in a 4-round match. Ward is a 3-time European amateur champion, in addition to representing Ireland in the 2016 Olympics.

Highly decorated Brazilian middleweight Herbert Caravalho Sousa will make his pro debut in a 4-rounder vs. TBA. The 23-year-old Sousa was a gold medal winner at the 2020 Olympics and 2019 World Championships.

Former Canadian National amateur champion Sebastien Bouchard (19-2, 8 KOs) meets Ricardo

“Riky” Lara (22-9, 10 KOs), of Mexico, in an intriguing 10-round bout. The popular Bouchard has been victorious in 10 of his last 11 fights.

RJJ BOXING ON UFC FIGHT PASS RESULTS FROM CALIFONIA

MONTEBELLO, Calif. (September 17, 2021) – Ukrainian super welterweight SerhIi “El Flaco” Bohachuk stopped Raphael “Trouble” Igbokwe in last night’s “Hollywood Fight Nights” main event on RJJ Boxing on UFC FIGHT PASS®, at Quiet Cannon Event Center in Montebello, California.

“Hollywood Fight Nights,” presented by Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing and 360 Promotions in association with World Cup Boxing Series, streamed live on UFC FIGHT PASS®, the world’s leading digital subscription service for combat sports. To sign up for UFC FIGHT PASS, please visit www.ufcfightpass.com.

Bohachuk (20-1, 20 KOs), fighting out of Los Angeles, dominated Houston’s Igbokwe (16-3, 7 KOs), the former Texas State middleweight and ABF USA super middleweight champion, battering the southpaw with a succession of right hands. The battering by the World Boxing Council’s No. 13 rated super welterweight Bohachuk, a former WBC Continental Americas 168-pound division titlist, until Igbokwe’s corner ended the fight after six rounds.

In the co-featured event, Kazakhstan super middleweight Ali Akhmedov (17-1, 12 KOs) was the hunter against his Peruvian opponent, David “La Pantera” Zegarra (34-6, 21 KOs), former WBA FEDALATIN middleweight and South American super middleweight champion. Akhmedov, now fighting out of Henderson, Nevada, hurt Zegarra with an uppercut in the third and final round. Armenian cruiserweight Rafayel “Bam Bam” Simonyan (9-1-1, 8 KOs) and Adrian “Monta-Ru” Taylor (11-1-1, 4 KOs), of Dallas, fought to an 8-round split draw. Scoring rounds was difficult for judges who had the fight 76-76, 77-75 in favor of Simonyan, and 79-73 favoring Taylor.

In a battle of undefeated California super featherweights, the boxer turned puncher as Adrian Corona (8-0, 2 KOs) floored Daniel “Big Dawg” Robles (7-1, 5 KOs) early in the fight and finished him off later in round one, landing a barrage of punches that put Robles to sleep with 15-seconds left in the opening round.

California lightweight Chelsey “Mae” Anderson (4-0, 1 KO) remained undefeated, registering a flash knockdown of Austrian Elvina “Warrior” White (5-1, 2 KOs) in the opening round, followed in the second in which Anderson pounded White, sending her game opponent to the canvas en route to a win by way of 4-round unanimous decision.

FINAL QUOTES

Claressa Shields
The hard part is done. I had a great camp. I feel great. I was able to eat and drink all day yesterday and I’m ready to get in there and show what I could have been showing these whole 13 months.

I really prepared for this fight. I know my body looks a little different than it did before, but that just shows all the work I’ve been putting in.

This is what women need. I had to wait 13 months on the side, while other men were given a chance to fight on large platforms. If I would have kept waiting, who knows how long I would have been waiting. I love the fact that I took a risk. I bet on me and my manger and my promoter and now we’re here.

I think this I great for women’s boxing. We’ll have some numbers to work off of and build off of. I’m just happy I’m the person to be able to do it.

I hope that all my fans and all my hater all tune in to watch me be great tomorrow and help move women’s sports one more step to being equal.

Mare-Eve Dicaire
I feel great. I feel ready. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime to represent my country. This is the first time in history that someone is going to fight for all four belts and for sure I will fight with all my pride.

I think everything I learned in my career and in my lifetime is going to be tested in the ring. This kind of fight will pad the way for women’s boxing. This is how we’re going to get popularity and get women’s boxing on the map.

I’m really thrilled to be part of this event and proud to be the headliner in the first all-female pay-per-view in US history.

It was a crazy year, a year of deception and everybody was living it with me. I was going to the grocery store and people were asking when are you going to fight shields? I’m here with all the support of my country and finally it’s here. That’s why I’m smiling.

SUPERWOMEN: SHIELDS VS. DICAIRE is dedicated to this year’s International Women’s Day (Monday, March 8, 2021) and presented by Salita Promotions in association with Groupe Yvon Michel.

Brandon Adams Weighs-In for Fight with Serhii Bohachuk Tomorrow night in Puerto Rico

December 2, 2021 – Former world title-challenger and winner of The Contender, Brandon Adams (22-3, 14 KOs) weighed 153.8 pounds for his 10-round junior middleweight fight as he takes on undefeated Sehii Bohachuk (18-0, 18 KOs) in the main event of a Ring City USA boxing card at the Felix Pintor Gym in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.

The fight, which is for the WBC Continental Americas and WBO NABO titles, will headline a card that will be seen live on NBC Sports Network at 9 PM ET.

Adams, of Watts, California, is promoted by Banner Promotions and The Tournament of Contenders, will be making his first start since stopping Sonny Duversonne (11-2-2) in the 2nd round on December 3rd, in a fight that was also part of a Ring City USA event.
Adams also has victories over Daniel Edouard (23-4-2); Raymond Gatica (14-2); Alex Perez (18-1); Vito Gasparyan (15-3-5); Tyrone Brunson (26-6-2); Ievgen Khytrov (17-1; Eric Walker (17-1) and Shane Mosley Jr (13-2).

FINAL QUOTES:

ADAMS:
On his nickname: “I got my nickname ‘Cannon’ from the video game Fight Night Champions. I used to always create my character and every time I created my character; I would try to find a nickname that went with my name. One time I was playing, and I saw a cannon on the trunks, and it all went. Brandon ‘The Cannon.’ This was before I was even fighting.”

On his preparation: “I’ve been ready since December 3. Everyday that passes I am able to tame that inner beast and control myself a lot more. I feel that I am willing and able to get in the ring with anyone and this time around it’s Serhii Bohachuk. I believe that I have everything that I need to go into this fight and pull out a victory.”

On Bohachuk’s record: “For me, when I think of his record, it’s very impressive. If I was so worried about records, I wouldn’t have taken the fight with Jermall Charlo in his backyard. This was different, getting called out. I’ve never been called out before. Now we are living through it and it’s playing out. I am excited to fight. I am dialed in.”

BOHACHUK:
On his nickname: “When I started professional boxing, I started at 147 pounds. I have always been very skinny so I called myself ‘Flaco.’ I am a good boxer so it doesn’t matter if I am skinny.”

On getting COVID-19: “I am feeling very good. I am feeling fresh. I got Coronavirus before the last fight. At the beginning I was really, really upset. But then I gathered my thoughts together and rested. It’s all for the best so now I am ready. I rested a couple of weeks and now I am feeling fresh and hungry. I want to work, work, work and win this fight.

On Brandon’s last opponent: “(Sonny) Duversonne was not a hard opponent. Brandon does not have hard opponents. I knew it would only go a few rounds.”

On extending his knockout streak: “I don’t look for knockouts. I am boxing. I do my job. I will do 10 rounds, 12 rounds, knockout. It’s OK. Brandon Adams is a good boxer. I watched his fights. This is not an easy fight for me.”

On being from the Ukraine: “Ukraine has a lot of good professionals – Lomachenko, Usyk. I have a different style of boxing, but I have the same mentality.”

RING CITY ANNOUNCES DEC. 3 AND DEC. 17 MAIN EVENTS FROM WILD CARD BOXING GYM

Los Angeles – November 9, 2020 – Ring City USA, the new sports media startup that debuts its Thursday night boxing series Nov. 19  on NBC Sports Network, announced the main events for its second and third fight nights, to take place on Dec. 3 and Dec. 17 respectively. Undefeated blue-chip super welterweight prospect Serhii Bohachuck (18-0, 18 KO’s) meets former middleweight Interim Title Challenger Brandon Adams (21-3, 13 KO’s) in a 10-round main event on Dec.3, while the undefeated 2016 Olympian Charles Conwell (13-0, 10 KO’s) faces Madiyar Ashkeyev (14-0, 7 KO’s) in a 10-round super welterweight matchup.

All three of Ring City’s events in 2020 will be broadcast live from Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Boxing Gym in Los Angeles.

In Dec. 3 undercard action, rising welterweight prospect Brian Ceballo (11-0, 6 KO’s) will clash with once-beaten Larry Gomez (10-1, 8 KO’s) in the 10-round co-main event. In heavyweight female action, 2019 World Championships Gold Medalist Danielle Perkins (1-0, 1 KO) will fight the undefeated Princess Hairston (1-0, 1 KO) in a six-round matchup.

“We are excited about the quality of the fights Ring City is delivering to fight fans,” said Head of Boxing Evan Rutkowski. “As a developmental platform, our mission is to put together the most competitive matches that challenge our fighters and entertain viewers. Bohachuck-Adams and Conwell-Ashkeyev are two matchups that we are confident will meet those goals.”

The hard-hitting Bohachuck has steamrolled through opposition on his way to an 18-0 record, all of which have come via knockout. Bohachuk, who trains with Manny Robles out of Legends Boxing Academy, proved himself with a knock-out win over Tyrone Brunson in October of 2019. Most recently, he put on an electric performance in September when he knocked out Alejandro Davila in six rounds out of Mexico. The Ukrainian-born Bohachuck, who is promoted by Tom Loeffler at 360 Promotions and Ural Boxing, continues to take the Southern California boxing world by storm with his dominant performances in the ring and magnetic personality out of the ring.

“I’m looking forward to fighting Brandon Adams; He’s an experienced challenger who has already fought for the world title and I am up for this challenge,” Bohachuk said. “I appreciate Ring City giving me this opportunity to fight on NBCSN from the legendary Wild Card Gym.”

The battle-tested Adams, who hails from Watts, C.A. and works with accomplished trainer Dub Huntley, challenged WBC Middleweight Titleholder Jermall Charlo for the title in 2019 after defeating Shane Mosley Jr. to win the Epix Television Series “The Contender.” Adams boasts a formidable group of sparring partners, including Shawn Porter and Gennadiy Golovkin. Adams, who went professional inside of two years, is known for his fast rise within boxing. He started competitively training at age 19, fought his first amateur fight at age 20 and turned professional at age 21. Adams’ return to the ring Dec. 3 will be his first fight since his June 2019 matchup with Charlo. He is promoted by Banner Promotions and Tournament of Contenders.

“I appreciate this challenge,” Adams said. “Bohachuck’s team thinks he is ready to fight at the top level and my team is confident that I am already fighting at that level with the top fighters in the sport.”

Cleveland native Conwell, who competed in the men’s 2016 Summer Olympics middleweight event as an amateur, returned to the ring for the first time this year in February when he scored a fifth-round stoppage against Ramses Agaton. Known for his decisive punching power, Conwell recently capped off an impressive performance in the Oct. 7 main event of ShoBox: The New Generation with an eruptive knockout of Wendy Toussaint. A swift uppercut in the ninth round ended the contest and broke Toussaint’s nose in a fight that Conwell was comfortably winning. The highly touted super welterweight contender who is promoted by DiBella Entertainment, also reached a pivotal moment this year when he welcomed a daughter earlier this fall to become a first-time father.

“I’m happy to be getting right back in the ring to show my skill, class and dominance on NBC Sports Network,” Conwell said.

Ashkeyev, who fights out of boxing hotbed Oxnard by way of his native Kazakhstan, returns to face Conwell a year after his last fight in which he stopped Rodolfo Martinez at the end of the fifth round. Ashkeyev was an excellent amateur who participated in the World Series of Boxing. The undefeated Ashkeyev is promoted by Main Events and managed by Egis Klimas.

“I am very happy to have the chance to fight on NBCSN,” Ashkayev said. “I will be ready to make a big statement in my first televised main event in the United States and have waited a long time to show everyone what I can do.”

In Dec. 3 undercard action, former Olympic hopeful Ceballo, who is promoted by 360 Promotions, faces off against Gomez in a clash of welterweights. Perkins, who is the most recent U.S. Amateur World Champion boxer since Claressa Shields in 2016, is a formidable fighter who played Division I basketball at George Mason University and St. John’s University followed by a stint playing basketball professionally in Europe. Her basketball career came to an end when she suffered debilitating injuries after being hit by a car in 2008. The 6-foot southpaw made her professional boxing debut in 2014 after an impressive amateur career. She is managed by longtime boxing executive Mark Taffet, who has also guided Shields throughout her career. Perkins faces Hairston, who will fight just her second professional fight after winning her debut via knockout in July of 2019.

Ring City fights will air live on NBC Sports Network on Thursday nights at 9pm EST/6pm PST.
