TIM TSZYU VS. JOEY SPENCER FIGHT WEEK EVENTS QUOTES

NEWCASTLE, AUSTRALIA – April 4, 2025 – Australian superstar and former world champion Tim Tszyu and rising contender Joey Spencer previewed their upcoming showdown during media workouts and the final press conference this week before they square off this Saturday, April 5 (U.S. date and time) headlining PBC Championship Boxing on Prime Video from the Newcastle Entertainment Centre in Newcastle, Australia.

The event will begin at an updated start time of 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, with the action streaming exclusively on Prime Video for all Prime members in the United States and select countries. Join today or start a free 30-day trial to catch the card. Three-division world champion Abner Mares and renowned boxing commentator Mauro Ranallo will provide commentary and analysis between fights from a studio location for fans watching on Prime Video.

In the co-main event, a heavyweight rematch will see the undefeated Brandon Grach duel Liam Talivaa in a scheduled eight-rounder. Plus, exciting middleweight contender Endry Saavedra steps in to face Denmark’s Mikkel Nielsen in a 10-round attraction and contender Koen Mazoudier takes on Australian super welterweight champion Dan Hill in a 10-round matchup that kicks off the card.

Thursday’s final press conference featured a tense back-and-forth between the main event fighters as they traded barbs regarding the recent judging controversy that was eventually solved.

“Your team wanted neutral judging,” said Linden, Michigan’s Spencer. “He’s trying to manufacture—he’s trying to psych himself up. Psych yourself up. You’re trying to manufacture something that’s not there. Your team wanted neutral judges. Mr. Rose. So be it. So be it. We were all on the same page. They need you to be all fired up. They’re worried about you. They’re worried about you. In fact, everybody should be. Because, like I said, if you need someone to talk to so badly to manufacture and create this big drama that was never even there, then obviously he’s worried about something. His name’s the ‘Soul Taker’. He got his soul taken.”

“I’m not saying anything, bro. From my side, I would never go down that path,” responded Tszyu. “Trying to what? Psych myself up? In what way am I psyching myself up? Nah, nah, nah, man. It’s not fiction. It’s the truth. Who? Who? So be it what? You were the guys that started complaining about it. Who was complaining? Who was sooking? Who was sooking about going on a plane back home and getting neutral judges? Wasn’t me. Not me. I was kicking back at home. Maybe you should start reading…You know, a lot of greats fall, and it’s not about how you fall—it’s about how you get back up. And this is my redemption. This is how I get back up and you’re part of the story, so thank you for that.”

The event is promoted by No Limit Boxing and The Rose Brothers, in association with TGB Promotions.

Here is what the main event fighters had to say during fight week events from Australia before their 10-round headliner:

TIM TSZYU

“Every fight you go in feeling good and I’m excited to be back in Australia. It’s good to be home for sure.

“I’ve got an opponent in front of me and I’m 100% ready and focused on what I have to do. Some things happen in boxing and we just have to learn from the mistakes and come back stronger.

“I want to be on the biggest stages. I want to do it for Australia. I have a lot of people behind me and it’s a big responsibility. It’s gonna be massive to be back in Newcastle. Hopefully I can contain myself and stay nice and relaxed.

“How does this fight start? It could start either way, but center of the ring, it begins. And I’ll be there right in the middle to do what I always do and to meet him there.

“I don’t really listen to the interviews, nor do I watch and read stuff in the media. I just get a couple of phone calls from managers, from promoters that let me be aware of the scenario. All I got told was about these judges. That pissed me off. Pissed me off for the fact that whenever we travel—all of us Aussies—we don’t get that luxury. We just get what we get. For them to come with this mentality, it’s diva-like in my eyes.

“I don’t know what Spencer is thinking. We come from different generations and have different mindsets.”

JOEY SPENCER

“I’m not surprised that he wants to go toe-to-toe. When you get this close to fight night, you really just want to go in there and tear somebody up. I’m not thinking about what to make of what he says, because we’re gonna get in there and find out. No matter how he comes out, we’re going to be ready to fight fire with fire.

“I feel great. It’s been a great time in Australia and a great finish to camp. I’m feeling really good and ready.

“Tim is gonna come out hard. It’s an important fight for both of us. It means everything to both of us. We both know that we have to get this win. You only get so many opportunities in boxing, so when you’re in a position like Tim’s in, you know you have to win to get back on track. And if you’re in my position, I want to get to that next level, so I have to win this fight to do that.

“I believe with all my heart that this is my time. Everything has come together for this opportunity, and so I’m just enjoying it. I’m enjoying the moment, I’m enjoying the people here, and it’s just great. I couldn’t be happier, couldn’t be more thankful.

“Just what I know I’ve put in. What I know I’ve got inside me. I feel like my journey has brought me to this point. Like I said, my opponent—he’s a great opponent, he’s done great things, I think he’s extremely dangerous—but at the end of the day, it’s not about him. It’s about me. And I feel like I’ve got what it takes to be at this level and to win this fight.

“I’m not arrogant enough to say that I’m just going to be able to choose what I do in this fight and he’s not going to respond, right? We’re both going to have to respond to each other. I believe this is going to be a competitive fight, and so that means there’s going to be ebbs and flows, adjustments to be made.

“I don’t know if he’s underestimating me or not. I’m not inside his head. He says something different in every interview, so we don’t know what he really feels or thinks. It’s probably good on his part, right? To keep everybody else guessing. But that’s why I’m not focused on him. I don’t need to come in and—we’re going to fight, and we’ll see what happens.”

INTERNATIONAL BOXING FEDERATION JR. MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION BAKHRAM MURTAZALIEV AND HIS TEAM DISCUSS SATURDAY’S BIG WIN AND WHAT IS NEXT.

TOTOWA, NJ, October 24, 2024  —  Bakhram Murtazaliev stopped Tim Tszyu his first title defense, shocking many as he entered the ring as a huge underdog this past Saturday, October 19 at Caribe Royal in Orlando, Florida, live on Prime Video.

Bakhram accomplished this DESPITE breaking the knuckle on his right-hand pinky finger on the last day of sparring on Friday, October 11.  They had a doctor check it out. After the fight was over, when head trainer Roman Kalantaryan revealed the injury, he said they decided not to cancel the fight because they were so sure that Bakhram would stop Tszyu anyway. “The guy is a monster!!” said Bakhram’s promoter Kathy Duva after hearing about this.

Bakhram applied serious pressure from the start. He knocked Tszyu down three times in round two and once again in round three, when the fight was stopped. The official time of the stoppage was 1:55 round three and the referee was Chris Young. The scores going into round three were 20-15 straight across.

Murtazaliev improved his record to 23-0, 17 KOs.

“The fight pretty much went the way I expected,” said Bakhram about the Tszyu fight. “I was thinking that he would probably stick around a little bit longer than three rounds. I had mentioned in interviews prior to the fight that I thought I would stop him, but I didn’t know when we would stop him. We did also prepare for twelve rounds.”

Regarding what is next, Bakhram said, “I don’t want to wait too long for another fight since I am thirty-one years old. I would love to unify the titles – so that would mean whoever comes first with another belt. Another option would be to go get a champion at middleweight. If that doesn’t work out, we will take anyone in the top ten, but again, first option is unification, under fair circumstances, and as long as the fight makes sense. I had been waiting three or four years to get the title shot. I eventually did get the chance at the world title but the circumstances surrounding that title fight were terrible. I had to train during Ramadan times (nighttime) and the fight and fight week activities were in the Berlin city limits, and they stuck us in a hotel way outside the city.”

Bakhram’s trainer Romo added, “Since his right hand was broke, he was using lots of left hooks, and not the right hand. That right hand is deadly and most of the time that’s how his knockouts come. The thing was, it was so close to the fight and camp was great and we didn’t want to have any excuses. That’s why we were throwing so many left hooks, which is how the knockout came.”

“We were very confident going into the fight,” said Hall of Fame Promoter Kathy Duva, CEO of Main Events. “The idea was to put pressure on right from the start, not letting up, thinking Tszyu may be tentative coming off his last fight, a loss. Bakhram showed that he is a real money fighter. He waited four years for a title shot. Had to go fight for that title in his opponents back yard, and against all odds, won by knockout. Then, in his first defense he shocked most by winning by stoppage. He was a 5-to-1 underdog in Germany and Tszyu was favored by 7-to-1 on Saturday. Bakhram will probably be an underdog against who he fights next, but we are very excited whoever that may be.”

Murtazaliev Stops Tszyu in 3; Retains Jr. Middleweight Title

Bakhram Murtazaliev dropped former world champion four-times in less than three rounds and scored a third round stoppage to retain the IBF Jr. Middleweight title at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.

Halfway through the opening round, Tszyu was cut on the top of his head. In round two, Murtazaliev landed a left hook that dropped Tszyu. A moment later, it was another left hook to the jaw that put Tszyu down again. Murtazaliev landed three more crushing left hooks and a right to the side of the head that put Tszyu down for a third time in the round. Halfway through round three, Murtazaliev landed another perfect left hook that dropped Tszyu hard to the canvas. Tszyu was allowed to continue, but not for long as he landed a booming right to the jaw that rocked Tszyu badly and the corner mercifully threw in towel, saving Tszyu any more damage at

Murtazaliev, 152.8 lbs of Glendale, CA is 23-0 with 17 knockouts. Tszyu, 153.4 lbs of Sydney, AUS is 24-2.

“We just worked on these combinations all the time and when the fight came, it was automatic,” said Murtazaliev. “We worked for 10 weeks on those punches that hurt him. We created opportunities and we believed that we could win this fight.”

“When I landed that first big shot, I knew how hard it was,” said Murtazaliev. “Tszyu is a real warrior and I hope one day we can work together and spar and help each other to grow.”

“Every time I step into the ring I leave it all in there,” said Tszyu. “Things didn’t go to plan and the better man won tonight. No excuses. After the first shot, things started not going according to plan. That’s part of boxing, you get hit and reactions get slower. Bakhram is the man at 154.”

Yoenis Tellez Stops Johan Gonzalez in 7

Yoenis Tellez remained undefeated with a seventh round stoppage over Johan Gonzalez in a 10-round super welterweight fight.

In round two, Tellez started to develop some redness around his left eye.

In round six, Tellez landed a perfect straight to the jaw that buckled and dropped Gonzalez. In round seven, Tellez landed a left hook to the head that sent Gonzalez to the floor. Tellez then landed a big right hand that hurt and dropped Gonzalez and the fight was stopped at 1:57.

Tellez, 153.8 lbs of Stafford, TX is 9-0 with seven knockouts. Gonzalez, 153 lbs of Las Vegas is 35-4.

“We were facing a very experienced fighter with a great trainer in Ismael Salas, so I knew it would not be easy,” said Tellez. “I was just following the instructions of my corner so that I could get the win.”

“The most important weapon I have is the will to become world champion and the motivation to make my country proud,” said Tellez. “Ever since I left my country, I’ve wanted to win for them.”

“I wasn’t properly following what my corner told me to do and that’s what cost me the fight,” said Gonzalez. “Tellez is a good fighter and a good prospect. I think I could have made the fight better for myself if I had been more disciplined.”

“I’m here to fight and let my team take care of getting me big opportunities and great opponents,” said Tellez. “I’m willing to fight anybody.”

Saavedra and Tapia Battle to a Draw

Endry Saavedra and Cesar Mateo Tapia battled to a 10-round majority draw in a middleweight slugfest.

In round three, Saavedra landed a hard combination highlighted by some hard hooks that put Tapia down on the ropes. Tapia rose with a cut under his right eye. Saavedra then landed another flurry for a second knockdown from a right to the body. In round five that right eye of Tapia began to swell. Later in the round, Saavedra walked right into a booming counter right to the head that sent him to the canvas.

In round six, Saavedra began to swell under his right eye. In round nine, Saavedra landed a fuselage of body shots that wilted Tapia to a knee.

Tapia landed 128 of 387 punches. Saavedra was 208 of 558.

Tapia, 160 lbs of New South Wales, AUS won a scorecard by a 94-92 tally, while two cards were even at 93-93. Tapia is 17-0-1. Saavedra, 159.8 lbs of Tijuana, MEX is 16-1-1.

“I thought I could have gotten him out of there because I’m a Mexican warrior,” said Saavedra. “I did everything I could and left everything in the ring. I was surprised he kept getting up, especially after the second knockdown. But he’s a Mexican and he wasn’t going to go out easily.”

“He was getting me with some short shots on the inside and taking my legs and I just had to keep working him and stay in the fight,” said Tapia.

“I was prepared for 10 hard rounds,” said Tapia. “I feel like it could have gone either way. It was a tough fight. I knew he was going to bring the fight and I just tried to take advantage when I had openings. I’m glad we could give the fans a great fight.”

“Everyone saw the fight and I know the fans here believed that I won,” said Saavedra. “I can only do my job. The judges had to do theirs.

“I believe that I am the man at 154-pounds. I just need the time to prove it. I’m taking these guys out one by one. I want all the monsters; they don’t frighten me.

“I’ve always wanted the biggest and toughest challenges out there. Taking this fight was a no-brainer. I’ve been hunting him down for quite some time. I guess he wanted to keep taking step-aside money instead of facing me so he could hold onto his mandatory position.

“When we step into the ring, it’s going to be different than what he thinks. Everything gets answered on Saturday night.

“The bogeyman is back. I never left. I went to hell and back in my last fight, but now it’s my vengeance. That’s the statement I’m making.

“The last name Tszyu will live on as the greatest boxing family that ever lived.”

BAKHRAM MURTAZALIEV

“I’m not interested in going back and forth with Tim, I’m just ready for Saturday and ready to give everyone a great fight.

“It was a dream come true to become a champion and now I’m just looking forward to this fight Saturday night. I’m not looking past Tim, but my goal is to unify the titles after this bout.

“I’ve never ran from any fighter. Everyone knows where to find me. We don’t have to wait much longer now.

“To me I don’t care if anyone is overlooking me. All the talking will end Saturday night. That’s all we’re concentrating on.”

YOENIS TELLEZ

“I’m looking forward to putting on a show. Everyone knows I put 100% into all of my fights, so it’s gonna be a great night on Saturday.

“This is where I started and really got my career going. I’m appreciative of being able to make Orlando my second home. These fans know me now and they know what I bring.

“Ever since I’ve been in the U.S., I’ve worked with Ronnie Shields and he’s really taught me how to be a professional fighter after my amateur career.

“I’m ready. I’m just going to listen to my corner, stay focused and follow the instructions so I can get my hand raised.

“Gonzalez has got a lot of experience, but I’m ready for him. My fans in Orlando are going to love this fight. This is my next step toward taking over the 154-pound division.”

JOHAN GONZALEZ

“I’m very grateful to be on this great card. Everyone should tune in on October 19 because I’m going to represent Venezuela proudly and give everyone a show.

“I know that Tellez is a top prospect but I’m ready for war. Let’s ring that bell. We’re prepared for anything he brings.

“I’m ready to give him his first defeat. I prepared very hard and I want to beat him here where he calls his second home.”

MATEO TAPIA

“This is a big event and a big opportunity for me. This is a tough fight that I have in front of me, but I’m ready and I can’t wait to show the world that I’m a great fighter.

“Fans can expect a really good fight from me. There are definitely going to be fireworks. I’ve been ruffling some feathers in the middleweight division and that’s what I’m here to do again on Saturday.

“It’s surreal to be on this card with Tim Tszyu. We’ve been sparring and have known each other for years. I just can’t wait for Saturday night.

“I don’t want to look too far into the future. I‘m just focused on this fight. This one is for the Mexican people. It’s gonna be a great fight and viva Mexico!”

ENDRY SAAVEDRA

“I’m hoping everyone comes out for a great night of boxing on Saturday night. I’m here to represent Tijuana, Mexico.

“I trust in my ability and I trust in what I’ve learned in this sport. We’ve had a great camp and we’re going to put our hard work on display Saturday. I’m here and I’m here to win.

“I know that Tapia is a good fighter, but I’m confident in myself. This is going to be a war and I’m gonna do it for all the Mexican people.”

VIDEO: Murtazaliev vs. Tszyu FINAL PRESS CONFERENCE | #MurtazalievTszyu

BAKHRAM MURTAZALIEV: “THE BEST PART OF FIGHTING TIM TSZYU IS THAT HE WON’T RUN…I LOVE FIGHTING IN THE CENTER OF THE RING.”

OXNARD, CA. – October 15, 2024 – IBF Super Welterweight World Champion Bakhram Murtazaliev has declared his intention to meet former world champion Tim Tszyu in the center of the ring when they square off in the main event of PBC Championship Boxing on Prime Video action this Saturday, October 19 from the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.

“The best part of fighting Tim Tszyu is that he won’t run,” said Murtazaliev. “He is coming to fight. I love fighting in the center of the ring. It’s going to be a great fight for the fans to watch on Saturday night.”

Murtazaliev’s lead trainer Roma Kalantaryan reiterated his fighter’s desire to contest this matchup in the center of the ring and expressed his belief Murtazaliev will end the night with his hand raised.

“We had a great eight-week training camp, Bakhram is 100% ready to defend his titles and I believe he’ll be victorious,” said Kalantaryan, who trained Murtazaliev in Oxnard, California for this fight. “Tszyu is a good fighter, a tough kid who knows how to box and he does not get tired. We have fought that type of fighter many times before and we’re prepared for anything he brings. We have the advantage on reach, height and I think power as well. There are going to be two pressure fighters in that ring on October 19.”

The undefeated Murtazaliev (22-0, 16 KOs) earned his world title in his last outing as he traveled to his opponent’s home turf in Germany and scored an 11th-round knockout over Jack Culcay. Now he steps into his biggest U.S. fight to date, looking to quiet Tszyu and increase his standing with a high-profile world title defense.

“I’m looking forward to fighting Tim Tszyu because he talks a lot and he has a famous name in boxing,” said Murtazaliev. “It really doesn’t matter who I fight, my mentality is always the same and I will fight whoever they put in front of me. I’m just excited to defend my title.”

The event will begin at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, with the action streaming exclusively on Prime Video for all Prime members in the United States and select countries. Join today or start a free 30-day trial to catch the championship card.

Monday’s event also featured undefeated heavyweight prospect Dainier Pero, who will compete in a non-televised undercard bout on October 19. Here is what the fighters had to say Monday from Split T Boxing Club in Las Vegas:

TIM TSZYU

“I bring the heat every time I get in the ring. I’m coming in with aggression on October 19 and I’m leaving with that IBF belt.

“Murtazaliev is a dog. That always presents a tremendous task. He’s strong and he’s got a competitive edge. I’m looking forward to fighting someone like that.

“I was on the same card as Murtazaliev once and I do remember thinking that he’s a tall guy, but most of my opponents are taller than me. We gave each other a little eye-to-eye, like we knew we’d see each other down the road.

“I just love the fight game. I enjoy the thrill of it and I enjoy the progression. I want to get better. I’m never satisfied. I always want to move on and go after the next target. That keeps me motivated.

“I love it here in Las Vegas. Boxing is so big here. I went to the Canelo fight and saw the love and passion. That’s what boxing is all about.

“My cut from my last fight feels good now. It’s in the shape of a v so I’m saying it’s ‘V for vengeance.’

“Could’ve, would’ve, should’ve, my last fight is all in the past. I just have to move on and look for answers another way. The biggest lesson I learned from the Fundora fight was to focus on the present.”

JOHAN GONZALEZ

“Everyone watching is going to see a better Johan Gonzalez. I’m going to be aggressive like I always am, but I’ve also added some news things that everyone is going to see on October 19.

“It means a lot for me to be in this position. I want to show everyone that I’ve improved since the fight with Jesus Ramos and I’ll show it against Tellez.

“We wanted to get right back into the ring after my recent win and keep pushing toward big fights like this. That’s the mindset of my team and that’s what we’re looking to show on October 19.”

DAINIER PERO

“I’m very grateful to be on this amazing card and people can expect that I’m going to give my best in the ring and represent myself and my people well.

“It’s great to have someone like Bob Santos in my corner, because he’s someone who really trusts me, and I trust him as well. That’s what you need from a trainer.

“I’m going to keep taking it one fight at a time. No matter what happens, I’m never going to give up and I’m going to keep fighting for what I want.”

TIM TSZYU VIRTUAL PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

ORLANDO, FL. – September 24, 2024 – Australian superstar and former world champion Tim Tszyu held a virtual press conference Tuesday before he challenges unbeaten IBF Super Welterweight World Champion Bakhram Murtazaliev in the main event of PBC Championship Boxing on Prime Video action Saturday, October 19 from the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.

The 29-year-old Tszyu (24-1, 17 KOs) will return to the ring for the first time since a split decision defeat to Sebastian Fundora in a WBC and WBO 154-Pound World Title clash in March. After taking on Fundora as a late replacement opponent following an injury to Keith Thurman, Tszyu suffered a gruesome cut from an accidental elbow in round three. Despite being impaired by flowing blood, Tszyu fought valiantly through the 12th round before coming up short on the cards.

Now he returns with an opportunity to become a two-time world champion against the undefeated Murtazaliev (22-0, 16 KOs) in the 12-round headliner of PBC Championship Boxing on Prime Videowhich begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT exclusively on Prime Video for all Prime members in the United States and select countries. Join today or start a free 30-day trial to catch the championship card.

Tickets for the live event are on sale now and are available through Ticketmaster. The event is promoted by TGB Promotions. The main event is promoted in association with No Limit Boxing and Main Events.

Here is what Tszyu had to say Tuesday:

TIM TSZYU

“This is another big opportunity for me to come back to the U.S. in front of a big audience and fight for another world title. I can’t wait to grab the opportunity with both hands.

“I’m bringing the heat. Hopefully he doesn’t take a step back, because everyone knows my style. Hopefully there’s less blood from me this fight, but we’re definitely going to bring the fans a fight to remember.

“I’m feeling great and all cleared from the cut in my last fight. I was ready to get back in the ring, because I like to keep myself busy. That’s what I’m all about.

“There was plenty to learn from my last fight. It was a close one. We definitely put on a show and gave the fans bang for their buck. That’s what boxing is all about.

“I had to reset and put emotions aside when the cut happened. It is what it is, we had to move on. Now I’m fighting for the world title and that’s all that’s on my mind right now.

“I have no fear. It doesn’t exist in my bloodstream at all. I just want the biggest and best challenges out there. Whoever the ‘bad guy’ is, I want them fed to me.

“I haven’t watched too much of Bakhram. I know that when he gets hit, he comes at you more. That can be a hard style. He’s got that dog in him. But I believe in my abilities and everything is going according to plan. Nothing is supposed to be easy on the road to the top. There’s no such thing as an easy fight. You have to go through the fire.

“This division is red hot. There’s a lot of big matchups to be made. When you think about all the great fighters, there’s going to be a lot of exciting fights and I can’t wait to be a part of them.

“The Aussie fans are the ones who put me into this position. When I go into the ring I feel like I have the whole country behind me. It means a lot to me.

“I’m not satisfied at the moment, because there’s a long way to go that I want to reach. We’re still at the bottom level right now.”

The co-main event will feature undefeated Cuban prospect Yoenis Téllez battling knockout artist Johan González in a 10-round super welterweight tilt, while undefeated middleweight contender Mateo Tapia steps in to face the hard-hitting Endry Saavedra in the 10-round opening bout at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

The action will stream exclusively on Prime Video for all Prime members in the United States and select countries. Join today or start a free 30-day trial to catch the championship card.

Tickets for the live event are on sale now and are available through Ticketmaster. The event is promoted by TGB Promotions. The main event is promoted in association with No Limit Boxing and Main Events.

“PBC Championship Boxing on Prime Video will kick off October 19 with two bouts featuring undefeated fighters in tough matchups, all leading up to the explosive showdown between Tim Tszyu and Bakhram Murtazaliev,” said Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions. “Yoenis Téllez can add his name to the star-studded lineup of top contenders at 154-pounds against the heavy-handed Johan González, while Mateo Tapia sits ready to make noise at middleweight if he can get by the streaking Endry Saavedra in the opening bout. Make sure to tune into Prime Video or come out to the Caribe Royale in Orlando for what lines up to be a night of top to bottom action.”

**YOENIS TELLEZ VS. JOHAN GONZALEZ**

The latest young standout from boxing-rich Cuba, Yoenis Téllez will return to fight at the friendly confines of the Caribe Royale for the fifth time in his young career, as he looks to impress against the hard-hitting Johan González in a 10-round super welterweight showdown.

Trained by the legendary Ronnie Shields in Stafford, Texas, the 24-year-old Téllez (8-0, 6 KOs) stepped in on short notice in July of last year to dominate veteran contender Sergio Garcia and earn a third-round TKO on the Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford undercard. Originally from Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, Téllez has continued to rise in two subsequent bouts, both of which took place at Caribe Royale in Orlando. In December 2023 he closed the show in style with a 10th-round TKO of Livan Navarro, and most recently he earned a unanimous decision over the previously unbeaten Joseph Jackson in April of this year.

“Fighting an experienced fighter like Johan González is a great opportunity to show the world what I’m made of,” said Téllez. “He’s fought at the elite level and I’m expecting a tough fight. I’m going to leave everything in the ring. On October 19 I’m going to be at my best to put on a great performance and give all the fans tuning in a great night of boxing. The Caribe Royale will be on fire.”

A native of Valencia, Venezuela who now trains in Las Vegas, González (34-3, 33 KOs) bounced back from a May defeat against top super welterweight contender Jesus Ramos by stopping Ivan Herrera in two rounds in August. González made his stateside debut in 2023 as he earned a pair of victories in the U.S., first stopping Ricardo Villalba in August before defeating Guido Schramm in November. The 33-year-old won those fights to bounce back from a close 2022 decision defeat to former world title challenger Magomed Kurbanov. A pro since 2017, González won his first 22 bouts before dropping a split decision in 2018.

“This fight is everything for me, it’s a must-win,” said González. “I’m working hard every day to make sure I leave with my hand raised. My only focus right now is doing everything possible to keep pushing my career forward. I have one mission, victory on October 19.”

**MATEO TAPIA VS. ENDRY SAAVEDRA**

A longtime friend and sparring partner of Tim Tszyu, Mateo Tapia will compete stateside in the U.S. for the second time as he takes on Endry Saavedra, who’s last seven victories have come by knockout. Tapia and Saavedra will duel in a 10-round middleweight clash that opens the live streaming presentation on October 19.

The 26-year-old Tapia (17-0, 10 KOs) was born in Tijuana, Mexico and has spent much of his career fighting out of Australia, where he put in over 500 rounds of sparring against Tszyu. Now training out of St. Petersburg, Florida, Tapia hopes to push himself closer to a world title with a victory over Saavedra. Tapia made his U.S. debut in October 2023 with a stoppage victory over Eric Robles, and followed that up with a 10-round unanimous decision over Keiber Gonzalez in Australia in April.

“This fight is a huge opportunity for me and I’m here to take it with both hands,” said Tapia. “I’m thrilled to be fighting on Tim Tszyu’s card and I’m thankful to my team for making this happen. It’s been a long camp and I’ll definitely be ready when that bell rings on October 19. I’m looking forward to displaying my skills and proudly representing both Australia and Mexico on the world stage. Bring it on.”

Originally from Venezuela and now fighting out of Tijuana, Mexico, Saavedra (16-1, 13 KOs) enters this fight having knocked out three straight opponents since the only defeat of his career, an October 2022 decision against Etoundi Michel William. The 33-year-old turned pro in 2018 and won his first 13 bouts after an extensive amateur career that saw him fight around the world against a bevy of future pro contenders. Saavedra most recently traveled to Australia in March and stopped Isaac Hardman on his home turf in round eight of a fight he trailed on two of three scorecards.

“I can’t wait to take advantage of what’s in front of me on October 19,” said Saavedra. “I plan on showing the world why I belong at the top of the middleweight division. I’m facing a tough Australian fighter who represents Mexico, so I’m expecting a war, just like I bring to every fight. You won’t want to miss this one.”

ORLANDO, FL. – September 3, 2024 – Australian superstar and former world champion Tim Tszyu will challenge unbeaten IBF Super Welterweight World Champion Bakhram Murtazaliev in the 12-round main event of PBC on Prime Video action Saturday, October 19 live from the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.

The event will begin at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, with the action streaming exclusively on Prime Video for all Prime members in the United States and select countries. Join today or start a free 30-day trial to catch the championship card. One of boxing’s most exciting rising stars, Tszyu will look to regain his status as world champion against the reigning unbeaten titleholder Murtazaliev in this high stakes main event. Additional undercard bouts available on Prime Video will be announced shortly.

Tickets for the live event go on sale tomorrow, Wednesday, September 4 at 12 p.m. ET will be available through Ticketmaster.

The event is promoted by TGB Promotions. The main event is promoted in association with No Limit Boxing and Main Events.

“Tim Tszyu is one of the most fan-friendly fighters in the sport and he proved it again in his last outing by battling through a gruesome cut to give fans 12 rounds of action,” said Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions. “Most fighters would have bowed out, but Tszyu kept pushing forward and will bring that same mentality into this matchup against the reigning IBF 154-Pound World Champion Bakhram Murtazaliev. The super welterweight division is absolutely loaded with talent and the winner of this fight will be in excellent position to face the other big names at 154-pounds. It’s the perfect fight to headline action on Prime Video on Saturday, October 19 at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando.”

“Even before his spectacular win against Jack Culcay to earn the IBF title in Germany, Bakhram made it clear that he wanted Tim Tszyu next,” said Kathy Duva, CEO of Main Events. “He also said he wanted the matchup to happen in the U.S. so that everyone could see him fight, so I’m really happy that this deal came together to take place in front of a wide audience on Prime Video. Both of these fighters tend to come forward and engage and I would not be surprised if this turns out to be the Fight of the Year.”

“There are very few fighters in the world that can endure what Tim went through in his last fight and come out bigger, better and stronger than before,” said George Rose, CEO of No Limit Boxing. “Tim Tszyu is that guy. He lives to fight and has a warrior spirit that is completely unbreakable. You won’t want to miss this. He is about to remind everyone why he is the best 154 pounder in the world on October 19.”

Tszyu (24-1, 17 KOs) lost his WBO 154-Pound World Title in his last outing, as he took an incidental elbow from Sebastian Fundora in round three that opened up one of the most grisly cuts in recent boxing memory, and which severely hampered Tszyu on his way to losing a narrow split-decision on March 30.

The 29-year-old son of International Boxing Hall of Famer Kostya Tszyu, he came into that fight off a red-hot 2023 campaign that saw him elevated to world champion at 154-pounds while defeating former world champion Tony Harrison, top contender Brian Mendoza and former title challenger Carlos Ocampo. A native of Sydney, Australia, Tszyu made his U.S debut against U.S. Olympian Terrell Gausha in March 2022, earning a unanimous decision. Tszyu grew up playing soccer, but soon gravitated toward boxing. The decision led to him following in the legendary footsteps of his father, Kostya, who was an undisputed 140-pound champion.

“At this level, you have to take everyone out and Bakhram is the next guy standing in my way,” said Tszyu. “The world knows me and they know what I’m about. I’m thankful to my team for putting me in this position to prove why I’m still the man at 154 pounds. Bakhram has what I want and I plan on taking it from him in spectacular fashion. It’s time to become a two-time world champion.”

Now residing in Oxnard, California, the Russian Murtazaliev (22-0, 16 KOs) joined the ranks of world champion in his last outing as he looks to make his first title defense on October 19. Murtazaliev defeated Jack Culcay on his home turf of Germany in April of this year to win the IBF title with a dramatic 11th-round stoppage.

The 31-year-old has fought professionally since 2014 and debuted stateside in November 2016 with a knockout over the previously unbeaten Botirsher Obidov. Murtazaliev continued his climb with an impressive three-win 2019 campaign that culminated in a unanimous decision over Jorge Fortea in November that earned him the mandatory slot with the IBF. He’d go on to add four more victories between September 2020 and December 2022 before stepping into the title showdown against Culcay.

“I’m extremely happy and excited to defend my world title on Prime Video against a strong opponent like Tim Tszyu,” said Murtazaliev. “I just want Tim to be in the best shape possible and not get any injuries so we can give this fight to the fans.”

PROMOTER SAMPSON LEWKOWICZ SAYS NEW UNIFIED CHAMP SEBASTIAN FUNDORA WILL HONOR VERBAL REMATCH AGREEMENT WITH TIM TSZYU

LAS VEGAS – April 1, 2024 – Sampson Lewkowicz, the sole promoter of brand-new unified WBC and WBO 154-Pound World Champion Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora, wishes to clarify his position on a potential Fundora rematch with now former champ and previously unbeaten Tim Tszyu.

“We were all so eager to make this fight that many of our agreements were made verbally. There wasn’t enough time,” explained Lewkowicz. “But I wish to make it clear that Team Fundora will honor the agreement. My word is always equal to a signed contract. Tim Tszyu, your rematch is ready when you are.”

Lewkowicz says the Fundora vs. Tszyu rematch will happen, with the only deciding factor being if Tszyu would like to do it immediately or if he prefers the fighters take an interim fight each beforehand.

“It all depends on Tim Tszyu,” said Lewkowicz. “If he doesn’t take the rematch, we will take the WBO mandatory or Spence, whatever the WBO says, but the first priority is the rematch with Tim Tszyu.”

In one of the bloodiest and most exciting fights of the past decade, Fundora won the titles by taking home a split-decision over Tszyu in the main event of the inaugural PBC Pay-Per-View available on Prime Video Saturday night from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. One judge scored the fight 116-112 for Tszyu but was overruled by scores of 116-112 and 115-113 for Fundora.

Tszyu (24-1, 17 KOs) fought well in the first two rounds, almost landing straight right hands at will before running into an incidental elbow from Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs) in round two, which opened a massive cut on the top of his head. Bravely, Tszyu fought on but, with his vision compromised, he was not the same fighter against Fundora’s newly rediscovered jab and superb work rate for the rest of the fight.

Fundora, who became the second world champion in his family, following his sister Gabriela, the current IBF Flyweight World Champion (both are trained by their father and certain Trainer of the Year candidate, Freddy) was also forced to deal with blood flowing, as a badly broken nose hampered his breathing for most of the fight. Undaunted, the new champ focused on using his significant reach advantage to consistently pepper Tszyu with jabs and clubbing left hands from the southpaw stance.

“Both fighters proved their tremendous hearts in this fight,” said Lewkowicz. “The elbow was a complete accident, but it showed Tim Tszyu’s greatness in continuing to fight when he could have quit. And Sebastian Fundora was swallowing his own blood for 10 rounds and still was able to beat one of the best in his division. It was a sensational fight, and we are ready to do it again when Tim is ready. Congratulations to both fighters. There were no losers Saturday night. The boxing fans won by witnessing it. Amazon Prime Video won with an amazing first show and both fighters won by proving their greatness in front of the whole world.”

TSZYU VS. FUNDORA & ROLLY VS. PITBULL FINAL PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

LAS VEGAS – March 28, 2024 – Fighters competing on the stacked inaugural PBC Pay-Per-View event available on Prime Video featuring four world title fights went face-to-face on Thursday at the final press conference before they enter the ring this Saturday, March 30 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The press conference featured rising star and reigning world champion Tim Tszyu and all-action contender Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora, who meet for Tszyu’s WBO title and the vacant WBC 154-pound world title in the main event, plus 140-pound world champion Rolando “Rolly” Romero and Mexican star Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz, who square off in the co-main event.

Also participating in Thursday’s event was WBA Middleweight World Champion Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara and No. 1 rated mandatory challenger Michael Zerafa, who duel in a 12-round attraction, plus WBC Flyweight World Champion Julio César Martínez and unbeaten contender Angelino Cordova, who duel in the pay-per-view opener at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

In addition, fighters stepping into the ring for PBC on Prime Video action beginning at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT faced off ahead of their respective matchups that stream live via free access to all fans, regardless of Prime Membership or purchase of the PPV. The live streaming presentation will be topped by rising middleweight Elijah García taking on contender Kyrone “Shut It Down” Davis in a 10-round attraction, while super welterweight contenders Serhii Bohachuk and Brian Mendoza open the action in a battle for the Interim WBC Super Welterweight Title.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions, are available now through AXS.com. The main event is promoted in association with No Limit Boxing.

Here is what the fighters had to say Thursday:

TIM TSZYU

“We’re finally here. It’s been a long road, but I’ve dreamt of this moment my whole life. Everything I’ve done has led to this point.

“The show goes on and destiny awaits. Saturday night we get to fight for the belts. It’s all about collecting belts and collecting legacy. We’re going to show that the Tszyu name is the greatest boxing family of all time.

“It’s quite hard to prepare for a fighter like Fundora. But a true champion rises to the occasion. I came here as a throwback fighter and that’s what I want to be. I’m living the way I speak. I’m here to do exactly what I say.

“Of course he’s got height, but we all bleed the same blood. There’s no difference between us. I’m taking inspiration from Mike Tyson and everything he did into this fight.

“Every moment has led to this. In 2009 I came here to watch Manny Pacquiao fight Miguel Cotto and it was in my brain that this was where I wanted to be. Now I see Miguel Cotto sitting right here and it’s unbelievable.

“He’s coming in for the brawl. He’s good at what he does and it’s all about eliminating what he does and showing what he’s not good at.

“This is step one to where I want to be. There’s plenty of big super fights to be made in the near future.”

SEBASTIAN FUNDORA

“What a change of events. From opening the card to headlining in the fight capital of the world of Las Vegas. This is a big opportunity that we’re going to take advantage of on Saturday night.

“This is the moment and the time for me to become world champion. My sister did it six months ago, and now it’s my turn.

“Losses happen in boxing. I made a mistake and I paid for it. Everything has still lined up the way it should be and now we have a chance to find out who the best fighter at 154 pounds is.

“I expect the best from Tim Tszyu. This is the best fight you can make in the division. He’s number one right now and we’ll crown a new champion on Saturday night.

“I always look at myself as the underdog. Now It’s just time to prove again what we’re made of. I’m so thankful to fight for my dream on Saturday night.”

ROLANDO ROMERO

“Everybody thinks this is gonna be a difficult fight, but I think this is gonna be an easy fight. He’s gonna run right into something, because he’s stupid.

“He’s gonna throw and throw and throw again. He does the same stuff over and over again. I’m ready for it.

“This is a great opportunity that I’ve been given. I’m already champion though, I didn’t need this fight. He’s the one who has to take advantage.

“I wanted this fight because it’ll be fun for the fans. This is a fight the fans have been asking for and I’m doing everyone a favor by giving it to them. Make sure you tune in.

“I feel like I’m back at home training with Ismael Salas. He’s had a big influence on me throughout my whole career really.

“I’m not giving you the belt, but I can give you the chihuahua chain after the fight.”

ISAAC CRUZ

“I have learned a lot from my recent fights. I know that I don’t want to leave it up to the judges. I’m in great shape and ready to throw hard punches from round one through round 12.

“If he thinks I’m stupid, then he’s even stupider. If he thinks I’m just gonna lay down, he’s very mistaken. He’s gonna realize it on Saturday night.

“I’ve trained so hard to represent the Mexican people on Saturday night. I always fight to make them proud and this will be no different.

“Rolly was talking trash during the face off, but his bark is far stronger than his bite. I just want to hit him repeatedly in the face when the time comes.

“I’m here to wipe Rolly’s smile off his face and take his belt. That’s it. Isaac Cruz is going to be the new world champion.”

ERISLANDY LARA

“I’m thankful to everyone who made this fight possible. I’m ready to go, I’m pumped up and I’m ready to give everyone a great fight. The time for talking is over.

“I prove my worth inside of the ring and Zerafa will see that on Saturday night. I’m excited to be back, because I feel ready and strong.

“I’m gonna work hard in the ring and I feel like I’m gonna knock him out. I think it’s gonna happen before the sixth round.”

MICHAEL ZERAFA

“Saturday night ends with me as the new WBA world champion. Mark my words.

“Hopefully we’re coming back to Australia with three world titles, one for myself and two for Tim. Now it’s time to do it.

“Having Nonito Donaire in my corner for this fight has been huge. He’s a legendary fighter and there’s a lot to learn from him. I’m here to take what’s rightfully mine. I’ve been ready for this fight for so long.

“This is a huge night for Australia. We’re putting a small country on the big map and we’re taking over starting Saturday night.”

JULIO CESAR MARTINEZ

“I’m really thrilled to be back after a couple setbacks. In the end, it’s all about what happens inside of the ring on Saturday.

“I’m ready to face anybody at any time. I say it all the time and I mean it. Everyone will see what I mean on Saturday night.

“I want to give the fans a great fight. I’m coming out one thousand percent ready and it’s going to be fireworks.

“I’m so excited and motivated for this fight. Like I always say, we are here to come after everything, with no fear.”

ANGELINO CORDOVA

“I’m really happy and excited to be part of this event. I hope that everything turns out well and everyone enjoys this great card.

“I’ve been picturing the moment of becoming world champion for a long time. I can’t wait until that moment comes and I can make my country proud.

“I don’t need to make a prediction, but you will see sparks fly when that bell rings on Saturday night.

“Whatever Martinez brings, I’ll be ready. I’m very confident in myself and all of the training we’ve done for this fight.”

ELIJAH GARCIA

“We’re gonna have a great night of fights on Saturday. I have a lot on my plate right now with Davis. He’s experienced and dangerous. If I’m not prepared, he will win. So I’m going to be ready to perform at my highest level and take it from there.

“I don’t really feel pressure to be honest. Last year was a great year, but now it’s a new year. We got great experience that will help me going forward. It’s all about performing right and listening to my corner.

“This is a really big fight for me. Davis is a dog. He doesn’t quit. He’s for real. He has nothing to lose right now, so I knew that I had to give 100% in training.

“This is going to be another big fight for me.”

KYRONE DAVIS

“We flew out here to make a point and win on Saturday. I trained hard. This isn’t a fight where I had two weeks-notice or saved the show. This is a fight where I can show everyone who I am.

“Being the underdog doesn’t matter to me. No one can fight the fight but me and him. What other people think doesn’t matter.

“I think you’re going to see a lot of things come together for me on Saturday night. I’ll get in there and fight with anybody, but I really had time in this training camp to prepare. He’s gonna feel it.

“Garcia is a great fighter and I appreciate him taking this fight. Show up on Saturday and watch us show out.

“A win on Saturday puts me in position for a world title shot and that’s what we’re looking for.”

SERHII BOHACHUK

“I’m very happy to be here for a big show. I’m going to show my fans and everyone in the world a great fight. I can’t wait for Saturday night.

“Brian is a good fighter with good experience. This is a big fight for my career. I’m only focused on the fight in front of me.

“I’ve gained a great deal of experience in recent years. I’m 100% ready. My loss was not a loss, it was just experience. I’m a smarter fighter now and I’m ready for all of the big fights.

“I’m going to show on Saturday everything I can do. My time is coming. This is going to be a great fight.”

BRIAN MENDOZA

“Hard work is what got me here and I’m so thankful to be in this position. I was getting ready for a fight when the call came. We’re always grinding. Once I got the call, there was no hesitation.

“I think Tszyu and Bohachuk are similar in some ways, but Tszyu is more polished. I gained a lot of experience fighting Tszyu and I’m going to keep going after the best.

“I have no doubt that my conditioning is going to be there, so I’m ready to turn it up in the ring on Saturday. I’m an underdog again and everyone knows how I fight when I have a chip on my shoulder.

“I’m still number two in the division behind Tim Tszyu and I want to show why on Saturday night. Make sure you tune in.”

TSZYU VS. FUNDORA & ROLLY VS. PITBULL MEDIA WORKOUT QUOTES

LAS VEGAS – March 27, 2024 – Fight week events officially kicked off Wednesday with media workouts and grand arrivals for fighters competing on the stacked inaugural PBC Pay-Per-View event available on Prime Video taking place this Saturday, March 30 as four world title fights enter the ring from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The media workout featured rising star and reigning world champion Tim Tszyu and all-action contender Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora, who meet for Tszyu’s WBO title and the vacant WBC 154-pound world title in the main event, plus 140-pound world champion Rolando “Rolly” Romero and Mexican star Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz, who square off in the co-main event.

Also participating in Wednesday’s event was WBA Middleweight World Champion Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara and No. 1 rated mandatory challenger Michael Zerafa, who duel in a 12-round attraction, plus WBC Flyweight World Champion Julio César Martínez and unbeaten contender Angelino Cordova, who duel in the pay-per-view opener at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions, are available now through AXS.com. The main event is promoted in association with No Limit Boxing.

Here is what the fighters had to say Wednesday from MGM Grand:

TIM TSZYU

“It’s time to become a global star now and take another continent. I feel at home. This is where I belong. Looking at all these posters, this is where I’ve always dreamed of being. I feel at peace.

“I live by that word. Never retreat. I fear no one. I will go into any fight, it doesn’t matter. Two week notice, twelve days, tall guy, whoever they put in front of me, I just have to adapt, change and take over.

“With another world title on the line, it’s another opportunity for greatness. In the record books, we’d be the second unified family in the world to ever be in this position, so for me there’s so much on the line. There’s so much at stake. It’s just a wonderful time to be alive.

It’s great that both Zerafa and I are coming in and going for world titles. It’s a good time for Aussie boxing. Right now, it’s hot… red hot.

“The only way to win is in convincing fashion. It’s what I’ve always done. It’s going down one way, KO.

“This will be a classic. When we’re talking about classics, I’m hoping it’s going to be one of those fights that’s replayed forever.”

SEBASTIAN FUNDORA

“This is where I stamp the start of my legacy. It took us a millisecond to accept this fight. We were ready for the opportunity. We were already fighting for the WBC, now they threw in the WBO. It was an opportunity we couldn’t pass over.

“The height difference is just an everyday thing for me. I’m always taller than everybody, so this is just another day at work.

“Bohachuk and Tszyu are both similar, Bohachuk being a little bit taller, of course. Other than that, we have a pressuring, hard-hitting, orthodox fighter in Tszyu, the same in Bohachuk.

“My last fight was more than a learning experience; it was a reminder. In this sport you cannot make mistakes, and if you do, you pay for it.

“My father got his first world champions with my sister six months ago. We’re going to do it again this Saturday. He’s going to be Trainer Of The Year in my eyes.

“March 30, tune in. It’s going to be a great fight. We’re going to have another Fundora crowned as champion.”

ROLANDO ROMERO

“I am blessed to be fighting in my hometown and I can’t wait for Saturday night for the bell to finally ring.

“I was killing myself really bad to make 135 pounds. It had been like that for a good minute. This weight is great for me, but I also want to move up to 147 pounds. That is where all of the fun is.

I’ll do whatever. I’m not ducking anybody. I’ll go after anyone.

“Isaac Cruz is a small guy. He was big the other day. He looks a little smaller now. Anyone can think about setting a fast pace until they get punched in the face by me.”

“Cruz is the first fighter that I don’t have to go and chase. It is going to be a lot of fun. I don’t have to set any traps. He sets himself up for them.”

ISAAC CRUZ

“This is a very big and important second chance at a world title for me. I’m not going to come out with my hands tied, I’m ready to throw. I am prepared for whatever he wants to do.

“This is perhaps the best training camp I have had in my career. That is all due to the work I have put in with my Dad and the whole staff that have been here supporting me all the way.

“I don’t feel any pressure. Pressure means nothing to me. I am here to be world champion. Period.”

ERISLANDY LARA

“I’m really happy to be back here, and I want to thank you all for your support. I’m looking forward to this weekend. Zerafa is a high-quality fighter. He’s here for a reason. He’s a contender. On March 30, we’ll see who’s better inside the ring.

“The motivation comes from the day-to-day and the training, from wanting to get better each and every day. I can guarantee you that at my age, I feel in tip-top shape, both physically and mentally. I’m ready to go.

“I’m taking things year by year. But I’m focused on the moment. I’m focused on this Saturday and winning this fight, taking things step by step.

“I’m going to give you the best of me, and I hope to come out with the win on Saturday. That’s all I can do, so that’s what I’m going to do.”

MICHAEL ZERAFA

“This means everything to me. I want to bring back that world title. This is my life and this is more than a fight for me.

“This fight is dedicated to my sister, who is fighting her own fight at the moment. She’s suffering with breast cancer, and this fight is for her. She’s in her own fight for her life, so 12 rounds with Lara is nothing compared to that.

“I’ve been lucky enough to have Rachel and Nonito Donaire in my corner – they’re huge artillery going into this fight. That’s kept me sane and kept me exactly where I need to be pushing the pace. No stone’s been left unturned. We’re here now. We’ve traveled to the other side of the world, not to be an opponent. We’re here to take what’s rightfully mine.

“I’m a huge fan of Lara, even prior to us becoming opponents. He’s a great mover, but he’s getting old. I truly believe he’s held the belt for way too long. He’s just looking for a pay day with Danny Garcia or one of those guys. I’m there to upset the plan and take what’s rightfully mine.

“I’m fully focused. I’ve been here before when I fought Kell Brook and Peter Quillin. This is just another night for me. I’m grateful to be fighting at such a huge stadium in front of all these fans. I thank you for all the love and support, but I’m fully focused on the task ahead.”

JULIO CESAR MARTINEZ

“Cordova knows how to move, so we are ready for anything. We can go toe-to-toe and fight an all-out war. We can also fight tactically with the reach. We are going to come at him with everything.

“We are going to come after Cordova, pressure him, and make sure he feels it.

“I am here to make history. This is the beginning of a path to go after all four world championship belts. I want to be the undisputed champion.”

ANGELINO CORDOVA

“I am so excited to show everyone what I can do on Saturday night. You are going to see sparks fly.

“I just came here to fight and win a world title. That is what I am going to do. It’s going to be an exciting night. God willing, I will bring the world title back to my country.”

“My message to the fans is to keep fighting, because dreams do come true.”

VIDEO: LAS VEGAS MEDIA WORKOUT FEATURING TIM TSZYU, SEBASTIAN FUNDORA & MORE

LAS VEGAS MEDIA WORKOUT QUOTES FEATURING TIM TSZYU, SEBASTIAN FUNDORA & MORE

LAS VEGAS – March 22, 2024 – Unbeaten rising star Tim Tszyu and all-action super welterweight sensation Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora went face to face for the first time on Thursday, at a media workout before they meet for Tszyu’s WBO and the vacant WBC 154-pound world titles headlining a PBC Pay-Per-View event available on Prime Video Saturday, March 30 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The media workout also featured WBA Super Lightweight World Champion Rolando “Rolly” Romero, who takes on Mexican star Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz in the co-main event, plus WBA Middleweight World Champion Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara  and No. 1 rated mandatory challenger Michael Zerafa, who meet in a 12-round pay-per-view attraction.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions, are available now through AXS.com. The main event is promoted in association with No Limit Boxing.

Here is what the fighters had to say Thursday from Split T Boxing Club in Las Vegas:

TIM TSZYU

“I had sparring for the new opponent come in on Monday and I was grateful for the great work they gave me. This fight is all about awkwardness when you have someone that tall. But nothing phases me. It is what it is and the show goes on.

“This is a unification now, so I’m very grateful for that. It’s a legacy-defining type of fight. I just have to keep doing what I’m doing and one day they’ll say that the Tszyu family is the best to ever step into this boxing world.

“I’ve met Fundora before and I respect him and how he fights. I just have to find the right shots. Every great boxer finds the way to win and we’ll find those keys on March 30.

“I talked to Brian Mendoza and he talked about how Fundora is awkward with his style and that he uses his height to his advantage in different ways.

“My message to the fans is definitely don’t blink during this one.”

SEBASTIAN FUNDORA

“I’m just going to keep focusing on what I need to do. My original opponent Serhii Bohachuk has a lot of similarities to Tim Tszyu, so it’s no difference for me. If I stick to my plan, I’ll be successful.

“I was in control of the Mendoza fight, so I don’t want to change too much because of the result, and it doesn’t really matter to me what he did against Tszyu. I’m just going to keep focusing on my game.

“I’ve been training hard all camp. We only had a little bit to fix after our last fight, but my dad and my sister keep my mind straight. My sister Gabriela just became world champion, and now it’s my turn to go do the same.

“A win puts me back at number one in the division. That’s where I want to be. I have my eyes on all of the big names. This is the first stone in the Fundora legacy.

“Having the right preparation is very important of course. But I don’t think it’s really an advantage that I was preparing for someone similar to Tszyu already. It’s about what happens when you step into the ring. Of course I believe I’m going to win this fight, but not because of an advantage like that.

“I want to win this fight, become unified champion and keep going from there. We want to keep moving up.”

ROLANDO ROMERO

“I think I’m a different Rolly in every fight, I learn a lot every camp I’m in. Ismael Salas is a tremendous trainer who trained me before I went pro, so I feel like I’m back at home.

“Cruz takes punches because he has to, it’s because he has no other option in his game. This fight is gonna be an explosion and a Mexican slugfest. I’m gonna beat him at his own game.

“My strength and conditioning coach has had me do a lot of explosive work, and honestly I hate every single second of working with him, but it’s what I need. I already hit hard, and now it’s gonna be more of an explosion on fight night.

“Everyone is excited to see this fight. It doesn’t require too much talking because you’re gonna see it all in the ring on March 30.

ERISLANDY LARA

“I’ve had a great training camp for this fight. There are always new things you can learn when you put the time in at the gym. We’ve been really focused on our opponent and doing anything we can to win this fight. I feel spectacular and you’ll see it on March 30.

“I don’t pay attention to the rest of the middleweight division, I focus solely on me. It’s all about March 30 on pay-per-view. Tune in and let’s make history.

“I’ve stayed focused on everything that’s in my control and I’ve used my training camp to make sure there won’t be any rust when that bell rings.

“I don’t need to send a message to Michael Zerafa, he knows he has to be ready on March 30. We’ll be ready for him.”

MICHAEL ZERAFA

“I’m super excited to be here. I was a boy when I fought in the U.S. the first time and now I’m a man. You’re gonna see a different Michael Zerafa. I’m a lot better fighter and I’m ready to shock the world and make a statement.

“I’m better mentally, physically and really in every way. I’m more experienced and just a better fighter. I was 21 when I fought Peter Quillin, I fell short, but I do believe that now it’s my time.

“I have a lot of respect for Lara, but I truly believe this fight is not going the distance. Everyone I’ve fought has said I have ridiculous power and I will show it on March 30.

“Lara has been in there with the best. It’s just another day for him. But this is my life and I truly believe this is my time. I’m ready to make a statement. This is more than a fight for me. My sister Michelle is battling cancer right now and her dream is to watch me win a world title. I’m thankful to have this opportunity to prove that whether you’re fighting for your life or fighting for a title, you can make it happen.”

“Obviously the near-last minute switch from Keith Thurman to Sebastian Fundora renders some of the style specifics of Tim Tszyu’s preparation null or inappropriate,” said Lampley.  “Fundora is physically different, stylistically different, generationally different and competitively different than Keith Thurman.  So now it’s a new fight for Tszyu with a week and a half to adjust.  He’s still a heavy favorite, and he’ll have to accept that he gets less credit for the win in what may well be a tougher fight.  But that’s boxing.  Some memorable upsets have emerged from circumstances like this, but they are memorable because they are so rare.  There’s no logical reason yet to see this as less than perfunctory for Tim Tszyu.”

PPV.COM, which does not require a subscription, will offer Tszyu vs. Fundora in the U.S. and Canada.  iNDEMAND, the parent company of PPV.COM, will also be carrying the event through its network of cable and telco operators in the U.S. and Canada via providers including: Xfinity, Spectrum, Contour, Optimum, Fios, Rogers, Bell, SaskTel, and Telus, among others.

*TIM TSZYU VS. SEBASTIAN FUNDORA*

The son of International Boxing Hall of Famer Kostya Tszyu, the 29-year-old Tszyu (24-0, 17 KOs) comes off a red-hot 2023 campaign that saw him elevated to world champion at 154-pounds while defeating former world champion Tony Harrison, top contender Brian Mendoza and former title challenger Carlos Ocampo.

Fundora (20-1-1, 13 KOs) rocketed to the top of the super welterweight division with a fan-friendly style and bruising toughness in the ring. His unbeaten streak came to an end in his last outing, as he got caught and was defeated by Brian Mendoza in April of last year. At nearly 6-foot-6, the 26-year-old southpaw from Coachella, Calif., towers over his opponents, but has displayed an appetite for toe-to-toe combat from short range. Fundora showed his mettle in April 2022, battling the hard-hitting Erickson Lubin in an instant 2022 Fight of the Year contender. Despite both men hitting the canvas, Fundora stood tall in the end, prompting Lubin’s corner to stop the fight at the end of the ninth round. Fundora represents a boxing family, as he is trained by his father Freddy alongside his younger sister, IBF Flyweight World Champion Gabriela.

*ROLANDO ROMERO VS. ISAAC CRUZ*

Part of the Mayweather Promotions stable, Romero (15-1, 13 KOs) is known for his brash talk that he backs up with power in both hands as well as an exciting, unique style that makes him a must-see whenever he steps between the ropes. The 28-year-old rose to the ranks of world champion in his last outing, stopping Ismael Barroso in round nine to win the title in May. It was Romero’s first return to the ring since a May 2022 defeat against three-division champion Gervonta Davis. Prior to the Davis fight, the Las Vegas resident Romero won an interim title in August 2020 by earning a close but unanimous decision over then unbeaten Jackson Marinez.

One of the most exciting fighters in boxing, the 25-year-old Cruz (25-2-1, 17 KOs) has racked up three consecutive victories since dropping a competitive and entertaining decision against undefeated superstar Gervonta Davis in December 2021. A native of Mexico City, Cruz shot up the lightweight rankings in 2020, announcing his presence with an electrifying first-round knockout over veteran Diego Magdaleno in October before adding dominant decisions over Francisco Vargas and Jose Matias Romero. After stopping former champion Yuriorkis Gamboa in April 2022 and veteran contender Eduardo Ramirez in September 2022, Cruz returned this past July to turn away the previously unbeaten Giovanni Cabrera by decision.

*ERISLANDY LARA VS. MICHAEL ZERAFA*

Lara (29-3-3, 17 KOs) was the longest reigning 154-pound world champion before he lost a tough split-decision to Jarrett Hurd in a 2018 title unification match that earned “Fight of the Year” from the BWAA. Lara returned from that fight and battled former 154-pound world titleholder Brian Castaño to an exciting draw in another narrow fight that could have gone Lara’s way. Lara most recently moved up to middleweight, capturing his WBA title with a first round knockout of Thomas LaManna in May 2021, before KO’ing Gary O’Sullivan in May 2022. Lara faced a slew of the top 154-pounders in the sport, including Canelo Alvarez, ahead of his middleweight debut.

Melbourne, Australia’s Zerafa (31-4, 19 KOs) is long established as one of his country’s top contenders and has won four-straight to earn the title fight on March 30. Zerafa has split a pair of matchups against former champion and Australian rival Jeff Horn in addition to a first round knockout of longtime contender Anthony Mundine. The 31-year-old previously fought stateside in 2015, as he dropped a contest to former middleweight champion Peter Quillin. The veteran has also challenged former champion Kell Brook and defeated previously unbeaten fighters Danilo Creati and Isaac Hardman in his last two fights.

*JULIO CESAR MARTINEZ VS. ANGELINO CORDOVA*

Trained by the renowned Eddy Reynoso, Martínez (20-2, 15 KOs) first captured his flyweight world title with a ninth-round stoppage of Cristofer Rosales in his stateside debut in December 2019. The 29-year-old has gone on to defend the title five times, besting previously unbeaten opponents Jay Harris and Samuel Carmona, while most recently stopping Ronal Batista in May. A native of Mexico City, Martínez’s only blemish since a split-decision loss in his pro debut was a decision loss to future Hall of Famer Roman Gonzalez in March 2022.

The 28-year-old Cordova (18-0-1, 12 KOs) earned a career-best victory in his last outing, as he bested former world champion Angel Acosta on his way to a 10-round unanimous decision victory last April. A native of Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela, Cordova has yet to taste defeat since debuting in 2017, with a draw in just his fourth fight as the only blemish. He made his U.S. debut in June 2022, defeating Axel Aragon Vega by decision before the triumph over Acosta.

*ELIJAH GARCIA VS. KYRONE DAVIS*

Fighting out of Phoenix, Arizona, García (16-0, 13 KOs) earned three impressive victories in 2023, kicking off his year last March with a knockout of the previously unbeaten Amilcar Vidal. He followed that up with a pair of performances on the undercards of two of the biggest events of the year, first defeating Kevin Salgado on the Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia pay-per-view in April before knocking out Armando Resendiz on the Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo pay-per-view in September. The precocious García has moved fast since turning pro in 2020 and has knocked out seven of his last nine opponents.

The 29-year-old Davis (18-3-1, 6 KOs) picked up two victories in 2023, dominating Cristian Fabian Rios in January before scoring a unanimous decision over Cruse Stewart in December. Those victories came after a run that saw Davis battle two-time champion Anthony Dirrell to a draw in February 2021, before stepping in as a late replacement two fights later to drop a hard-fought contest against super middleweight superstar David Benavidez. An amateur standout representing Wilmington, Delaware, Davis trains in Philadelphia under the tutelage of top trainer Stephen “Breadman” Edwards.

*SERHII BOHACHUK VS. BRIAN MENDOZA*

A 28-year-old from Ukraine, Bohachuk (23-1, 23 KOs) now resides in Los Angeles, where he’s fought out of since turning pro. The 28-year-old has won five-straight outings, including 2023 stoppages of Nathaniel Gallimore and Patrick Allotey. This run has come after a defeat to Brandon Adams in March 2021 and has seen him rise back up the 154-pound rankings. He won his first 18 fights after turning pro in 2017 following an extensive amateur career.

Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico and now fighting out of Las Vegas, Mendoza (22-3, 16 KOs) will return to the ring after traveling to Australia last October to challenge Tim Tszyu for his world title in a matchup that saw him lose by decision. Prior to that fight, The 30-year-old scored one of the year’s biggest upsets in April as he stopped the previously unbeaten Fundora with a sensational knockout in round seven, solidifying his own status at 154 pounds. Reinvigorated since teaming with renowned trainer Ismael Salas, Mendoza had previously knocked out former unified 154-pound champion Jeison Rosario in November 2022. Mendoza had put together a three-fight winning streak since dropping a decision to highly touted knockout artist Jesus Ramos in September 2021.

AUDIO: VIRTUAL TRAINER’S MEDIA ROUNDTABLE QUOTES FEATURING CALVIN FORD & KEVIN CUNNINGHAM PREVIEWING THURMAN VS. TSZYU & ROLLY VS. PITBULL PAY-PER-VIEW

VIDEO: TRAINER’S ROUNDTABLE w/ CALVIN FORD & KEVIN CUNNINGHAM ABOUT THURMAN – TSZYU &ROLLY – PITBULL PPV

VIRTUAL TRAINER’S MEDIA ROUNDTABLE QUOTES FEATURING CALVIN FORD & KEVIN CUNNINGHAM PREVIEWING THURMAN VS. TSZYU & ROLLY VS. PITBULL PAY-PER-VIEW

LAS VEGAS – March 13, 2024 – Accomplished trainers Calvin Ford and Kevin Cunningham previewed the upcoming PBC Pay-Per-View available on Prime Video, which is topped by Keith Thurman vs. Tim Tszyu and “Rolly” Romero vs. “Pitbull” Cruz matchups, during a virtual media roundtable on Tuesday before the anticipated clashes. These showdowns take place Saturday, March 30 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with the pay-per-view action set to begin at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions, are available now through AXS.com. The main event is promoted in association with No Limit Boxing.

Here is what the trainers had to say Tuesday:

CALVIN FORD, Trainer of Five-Time World Champion Gervonta Davis

“I think Thurman moving up in weight could benefit him. He knows that Tim is coming to get him, and that makes it a chess match.

“If I was training Keith I’d focus on conditioning and putting a lot of bodies in front of him. He knows what he needs to do to win the fight, it’s just that lay off that he needs to overcome.

“Thurman isn’t a showcase fight for anyone. You can see that he’s confident from his interviews. It’s just about him performing on that night. We’ve gotta see how he can handle the pressure. Legacies and careers are on the line.

“I think that Rolly against Pitbull fight can go either way. They’re both trying to show the hard work they’ve put in since they’ve lost. They’re only gonna be as good as their training camps allow them to be on fight night. Who can endure the other guy’s power and land the cleanest shot is what’s gonna determine the fight.

“I think Thurman needs to test that power of Tszyu. You have to see if he can really hit. I don’t think Tszyu has faced a mover like Thurman.

“Rolly has to work on things to keep Pitbull off of him, while Pitbull can just go in there and be himself. I’m going with Pitbull because I think the style of the fight suits him best.”

KEVIN CUNNINGHAM, Trainer of Top Super Welterweight Contender Erickson Lubin

“Thurman against Tszyu is an interesting matchup because you have a veteran who’s been less active against a young hungry champion. Tszyu is strong and poised. Each fight I watch, he gets better and better from a technical standpoint. It’s a tough fight, but if Keith Thurman has the legs, he can run Tszyu into a power shot. I think it could be a hard fight for Thurman.

“I’d prepare Thurman to use his strengths, which are the lateral movement and his legs. He boxes well with good power. So we’d be boxing and keep Tszyu in the center of the ring. You know Tszyu will be aggressive, so I’d try to use his aggression against him. I really think he has the power to hurt Tim Tszyu.

“If I were training Tim Tszyu I’d be applying pressure and try to break down Thurman to the body. Thurman is moving up in weight and has had trouble with body shots in the past, so we’d definitely test that bread basket.

“There’s gonna be opportunities for Rolly to catch Pitbull coming in. He needs to use his reach, range and footwork. He can definitely have success if he does. We all know that Pitbull is coming straight at you. We’ll see if that’s the right recipe to defeat Rolly. He’s gonna be in Rolly’s wheelhouse all night long, but Pitbull might be able to stream roll him.

“I think Pitbull is gonna overwhelm Rolly and win by decision or late stoppage. Rolly has to catch Pitbull with something earlier on in the fight.”

VIDEO: KEITH THURMAN VS. TIM TSZYU VIRTUAL PRESS CONFERENCE

KEITH THURMAN VS. TIM TSZYU VIRTUAL PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

LAS VEGAS – March 7, 2024 – Two-time world champion Keith “One Time” Thurman and unbeaten rising star and reigning world champion Tim Tszyu previewed their 12-round showdown during a virtual press conference Thursday before they headline a PBC Pay-Per-View available on Prime Video on Saturday, March 30 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The always out-spoken Thurman gushed about his excitement for what a victory on March 30 will do for his already accolade-filled career, while Tszyu expressed confidence that his Las Vegas debut would end in emphatic fashion in his favor and propel him to the status he’s sought for years.

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions, are available now through AXS.com. The main event is promoted in association with No Limit Boxing.

Here is what the fighters had to say Thursday:

KEITH THURMAN

“When I got the phone call to fight Tszyu, it just woke up the warrior in me. I have so much to gain in this fight. That’s what this fight is all about.

“This is gonna be a beautiful night of boxing. This is a stacked night with so many great fighters getting in the ring together. It’s a throwback card.

“Tszyu is trying to make this his era, but I’ve done great things in boxing. I’m coming to make a big splash against this Aussie shark and take him into deep waters on March 30.

“This is gonna be a great fight. That’s what the fans want. We’re two imperfect, perfect fighters stepping into the ring. We both have our own styles that make this fight so intriguing.

“When you’re at a certain caliber, you don’t think about the risk in a fight because of your confidence. I had other fights I could have taken, but I feel like a victory over Tim Tszyu, with all the work he’s put in to build his name, is the perfect statement.

“Tim has a very unique style with the way he throws his right hand. He’s gonna be knocking at the door all fight trying to have the highlight of the night, so we’re paying attention to that.

“I’ve been working very hard for a very tough fight in my career. Just like I have for every other world-class fighter that I’ve faced. My whole team knows we have the skills to win this fight.

“It’s my job to turn this into my story on March 30. I want to represent my greatness in the ring and show what I’ve done in the world of boxing.”

TIM TSZYU

“It’s been a big dream of mine to be fighting on this stage, on this platform and I’m going to make the most of every opportunity that’s given. This is my time, this is my moment and this is my era. This is the passing of the torch. I can’t wait to get in there.

“The way I’m feeling right now, I feel like a train that’s about to steamroll everyone. It’s not just Keith. No disrespect to him, but I’m ready to go through everyone.

“When you get in the ring, it doesn’t matter where you are. Boxing is universal. It’s just you and your opponent. It doesn’t matter if everyone hates you, or loves you, it’s just about the two of us.

“There’s always gonna be doubt in the minds of some of the public. I like that people are taking sides. That makes the fight more interesting. It’s all part of boxing. Because all the questions will be answered on fight night.

“If you’re not dreaming about the big stage in boxing, then you’re not in the right sport. If you make it here in Las Vegas, you make it worldwide. It’s quite simple. My dreams are through the roof and I’m chasing them.

“I had to keep taking tough fights last year or I wasn’t going to make it to this stage. I couldn’t wait for Jermell Charlo. I wanted to prove to everyone in the division that I am the man. It’s all about being the man at 154-pounds.”

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions, are available now through AXS.com. The main event is promoted in association with No Limit Boxing.

“PBC on Prime Video is coming out of the gate strong with two matchups that promise intrigue and fireworks on March 30 at T-Mobile Arena,” said Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions. “One of 2023’s breakout stars, Elijah García is continuing to take big steps in his career against the highly-skilled and tough as nails Kyrone Davis. Adding in Mexican flyweight world champion Julio César Martínez against the highly-motivated and undefeated Angelino Cordova and fight fans will be in for non-stop drama in the sport’s first big Las Vegas event of 2024.”

ELIJAH GARCIA VS. KYRONE DAVIS

Looking to stamp his 160-pound contender status after a huge 2023 campaign, the 20-year-old Elijah Garcíwill return for a 10-round showdown against tough middleweight contender Kyrone “Shut It Down” Davis, who can make his own name at middleweight with a signature victory on March 30.

“I’m excited to be back in the ring, especially on this first event with PBC and Prime Video,” said García. “Fighting on these major events is an incredible blessing and I plan on delivering another great performance. Kyrone Davis has been in the ring with some very good fighters, and it will be a challenging fight, but my plan is to get the win by any means necessary. The fans are going to see an incredible night of boxing on March 30 and everyone should be tuning in.”

“Elijah García is a very good fighter who’s young and hungry and he looks the part, but most importantly he’s been moved right,” said Davis. “Sometimes you can look better than you really are if you’re being moved right. I got asked about this fight last year and of course I said yes. Then everything went silent. Now, I face Cruse Stewart and he goes the distance with me and Elijah stopped him, so now he fights me. I’m not going to say too much, but I’m glad they took the fight. We’ll see if Garcia is really the future come March 30.”

JULIO CESAR MARTINEZ VS. ANGELINO CORDOVA

Originally scheduled to duel last December before visa issues for Martinez scuttled the bout, WBC Flyweight World Champion Julio César Martínez is set to attempt his sixth defense of his belt against skilled top flyweight contender Angelino Cordova in a 12-round battle.

“I’m ready to give it my all in training camp for this fight,” said Martínez. “I want all of the big fights and big prizes this year. My plan is to go earn this win on March 30 and end up with my hand raised. Then I’m going for all the belts, no matter who I have to face. I’m going to be the last man standing.”

“I’m very thankful that this fight is on and confirmed,” said Cordova. “My team did a great job making sure that this fight was rescheduled, and I’m thrilled it’s part of a huge card like this. I’m excited to finally face Martínez on March 30. The only thing on my mind is becoming the new WBC world champion.”

Here is what the press conference participants had to say Wednesday from The Conga Room at L.A. Live:

KEITH THURMAN

“It’s been a long time coming. I’m looking forward to continuing my legacy with this fight March 30. Once again I get to kick off a major event. This is what boxing is all about. Action. World Class.

“He’s a slow-footed fighter with a Mexican style. I’ll meet him in the middle of the ring. He’s gonna go home crying.

“They say Tszyu comes from ‘down under’, well I am trying to put you under, mate. He might have watched the video on me, but he doesn’t know. He might have signed the contract, but he doesn’t know what he just did. Bitter for you, but sweet for me!

“Moving up in weight is just something that happens in boxing. I love the legacy at 147 pounds and I got what I could get out of that division.

“Every time I step into the ring, I’m living out my American dream. We all know the sacrifices we make, and those sacrifices make us who we are. They’re truly worth it. I’ve done a lot at 147 and I want to do great things at 154 pounds. You put me in the ring, and I’m gonna rise to the top.

“I’m just looking for great fights and great action. Tim Tszyu is filling that void right now and providing me with the fight I want. He’s trying to open up the gates to his new era, but it’s my job to close the door shut, right in his face.

“Nobody wants to shut the haters up like Keith Thurman. Get your tickets today and be in the building. It’s very simple, you’re gonna hear one sound only, and that’s boom, boom, boom.”

TIM TSZYU

“It’s an honor to be in this position. You only launch something like this once, and I want to launch it in spectacular fashion.

“I want him to bring this same energy to the fight, and not run around like a gazelle. Because I’m definitely knocking him out in under 12 rounds.

“I don’t care about the critics. I’m going to fight whoever I can. I’m John Wick and there’s a list of names that I’m trying to tick off. This is the takeover for me.

“My goal is for the Tszyu name to be the greatest boxing family that ever lived. We’ve made it this far and we’ll see how far we can go.

“I know what Keith is and I know what he’s done, but I think the time is done for him. Now it’s a different era and it’s the ‘Tim Tszyu Era’. I’m not just planning to beat Keith Thurman, I’m planning to make this a spectacle.

“It’s a blessing to be here. It’s been a long time in the process for me. As soon as my fight finished against Brian Mendoza, I needed the next one. It was months in the making and now we’ve got a great opponent in Keith Thurman. I was like a kid getting a present from Santa Claus when they told me this fight was made.

“I know what I possess and what I’m gonna bring. There aren’t any old-school fighters like me anymore. I’m willing to fight anyone and I do damage when I’m in the ring.”

ROLANDO ROMERO

“To be the first superstar on Prime Video, I have to knock Cruz out. That’s it. Has to be a knockout.

“Odds are just statistics and they’re making him the favorite because he’s had more wins since fighting Gervonta Davis than I have. I’ve been an underdog before and I’m gonna keep betting on ‘Rolly’.

“The other fighters at 140 pounds are irrelevant. I’m only focused on being a part of this huge show with a huge platform.

“I’m used to being in this position. I carried the promotion for my fight against Gervonta Davis. So this is nothing new to me.

“Chihuahua, poodle, I don’t know he kinda looks like a little fat pug right now. That’s self-explanatory. Tune into the fight March 30.”

ISAAC CRUZ

“I’ll let him talk right now, because he’s gonna be the one crying like a chihuahua when the fight is over.

“My goal is to shut ‘Rolly’ up and show the world that I am a true Mexican world champion. I’m bringing that belt back home.

“I’m thankful to everyone for making this fight possible. I can’t wait to put on a show in the ring on March 30.

“We’ve kept working time after time and fight after fight. That’s how we earned another world title opportunity.

“I feel like I’m ready for this challenge. I’m a proud Mexican fighter and I’m going to show what I can do on March 30.

“I’m dedicating this fight to my kids. This fight is all about my family. I’ve only gotten to where I am thanks to them and their support.

“I want the fans to be the true winners on this night. That’s why I want to go take the belt from ‘Rolly’ and give the fans what they want.”

ERISLANDY LARA

“I promise that I’m going to be ready for Zerafa and that everyone tuning in is going to see a great fight.

“I’m going to put pressure on my opponent. I’m coming full-throttle. The fans can expect me to make this a very difficult night for Zerafa. I’m trying to knock him out.

“I feel good and I feel strong. I don’t think I need to prove anything. I just have to showcase who I am. I don’t think I’m going to have much trouble showing that.

“I’ve gained so much experience in this sport and that’s allowed me to pick the right times to go for knockouts. Lately that’s what I’ve been able to get done.

“I know that I’ve got a young opponent in front of me who’s going to give it everything he has to win the world title. But I’ve got a lot to offer to stop him and you’re going to see it on March 30.

“I’m very comfortable training and living in Las Vegas and I know that’s going to help me be at my best when the bell rings.”

SEBASTIAN FUNDORA

“Last time I came out I took my first loss, but we’ve been training hard waiting for this moment. I’m ready to do whatever I have to do to win this world title. Serhii and I know each other and I know we’re both here to give the fans a great fight.

“I don’t think I necessarily learned anything from the loss, but it was a reminder that you can’t mess around. I fell asleep for a second and I paid for it. I’ve had a year to regroup and now I have this opportunity to fight for this title. We’re gonna show up.

“Everyone that I fight is a big hitter. I only fight the best of the division. I’ll fight Tim Tszyu next. I want to be the best 154 in the world.

“Everybody keeps telling me there’s never been a brother and sister duo to be world champion at the same time. So if my and [IBF Flyweight World Champion] Gabriela can do it, it’d really be historic.”

SERHII BOHACHUK

“I have experience sparring Fundora and I know that this is a serious fight. This is the biggest fight of my career.

“This is my first title fight and it’s the fight of my life. I’m giving 100 percent. I know that I have to be my best. I’m going to be ready.

“I’ve learned a lot from mistakes that I might have made in past fights. It all makes me a better fighter today. That’s what I’ll bring into this fight.

“I’m going to show my fans and the whole boxing world a very strong performance when we get into the ring on March 30.”

TOM BROWN, President of TGB Promotions

“We’ll be detailing the 2024 schedule in the coming weeks and we look forward to bringing the biggest and best fights to an extended audience with Prime Video.

“Keith is the former unified welterweight world champion and his only loss was a split decision to the legendary Manny Pacquiao. Although Keith is moving up in weight, Keith’s a big man and his whole amateur career was at 152 pounds.

“Tim Tszyu is a reigning, undefeated champion whose dream is about to come true when he headlines this massive pay-per-view event. I was there in 1995 when his father made his Las Vegas debut and won his first world title, and now Tim is a rising star who’s getting better and better with each fight. The winner of this main event will be considered the best 154 pounder in the world.

“They call this a co-main event, but you can take the word ‘co’ out of this fight. This is a main event in its own right with ‘Rolly’ defending his world title against the all-action Isaac Cruz.”

“We also have Erislandy Lara, the oldest reigning world champion, defending his title against his mandatory challenger Michael Zerafa, and then in the opening fight Sebastian Fundora against Serhii Bohachuk has ‘Fight Of The Year’ written all over it. You won’t want to miss any of this card and I look forward to seeing everyone here.”
