SAN DIEGO, CA (September 7, 2012)—On Saturday afternoon, Tomasz Adamek will battle Travis Walker for the IBF North American heavyweight championship. That bout plus a full undercard will kick off a strong fall lineup coming to Wealth TV.

That event is just the beginning of a strong lineup that Wealth TV will be bringing the fans over the next several months.

On Friday night October 12th, Adonis Stevenson will take on Donovan George in an IBF Super Middleweight elimination bout that will originate from a raucous Bell Centre in Montreal.

The very next day, It will be a battle of Olympic medal winners from Great Briton as undefeated top prospect David Price takes on former world title challenger Audley Harrison.

Adamek and Walker will start off the action this Saturday from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

The action begins at 3pm eastern.

Adamek (46-2) is now ranked number-four by the IBF and a win on Saturday will put him back in line for a world championship opportunity.

He has to first get by the hungry Walker (39-7). This is a fight that Walker has been longing for and knows that this is a chance to cement his name as one of the top contenders.

On the intriguing undercard, Former two-time Cruiserweight world champion, Steve ÜSS” Cunningham will make his Heavyweight debut when he takes on battle tested Jason Gavern.

On Friday night October 12th, An important Super Middleweight clash between Adonis Stevenson and Donovan George will take place Live at 7 PM Eastern.

George and Stevenson have had this showdown postponed two times with the last scheduled fight was ticketed for August 17th.

The winner of the bout will be in line to face IBF champion Carl Froch.

Stevenson of Montreal has a record of 18-1 with fifteen knockouts and is thought of as being one of the most explosive punchers in the talent-rich Super Middleweight division.

The twenty-seven year old native of Chicago started his career with a record of 20-0-1 which included a win over future world title challenger of Osumanu Adama (17-1).

The very next day at 3 PM eastern, the British and Commonwealth Heavyweight titles will be on the line when 2008 Bronze Medal winner David Price (13-0) will take on 2004 Gold Medal winner and former world title challenger Audley Harrison (28-5).

This bout has importance due to the fact the Price has been mentioned on a short list to face Wladimir Klitschko in 2013 while Harrison is looking for one more opportunity to live up to the lofty expectations that were set upon him when he took home the Gold in the 2004 Olympics games.

WealthTV has secured the live US television rights for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) North American heavyweight fight with world title fight implications for the winner on September 8, pitting two-time, two division world champion battle Tomasz “Goral” Adamek (46-2, 28 KOs) against hungry Travis “Freight Train” Walker (39-7-1, 31 KOs), presented by Main Events in association with Peltz Boxing and Ziggy Promotions, live from the luxurious Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Adamek, an extremely popular Polish fighter fighting out Jersey City (NJ), will be making his first title defense since capturing the IBF North American crown this past June with a 12-round decision over Eddie Chambers (36-3).

The 36-year-old Adamek is a former IBF cruiserweight and World Boxing Council (WBC) light heavyweight world champion. Currently rated No. 4 by the IBF and No. 9 by the WBC, Adamek’s most notable victims include Paul Briggs (twice), Thomas Ulrich, O’Neil Bell, Steve Cunningham, Jonathan Banks, and Chris Arreola, among the more notables. Adamek’s only two losses as a professional have been to world champions Vitali Klitsckho and Chad Dawson.

Standing nearly 6’5″ Walker will have a three-inch height and seven-inch reach advantage against the more experienced Adamek. Walker is coming off a big win be technical knockout of leading Australian heavyweight Kali Meehan for the IBF Pan Pacific Championship last March in Meehan’s backyard.

The hard-hitting Walker, who is from Tallahassee (FL) but resides in Houston (TX), was the 2003 National Golden Gloves winner in the amateur super heavyweight class. He is rated No. 12 by the World Boxing Association (WBA) and No. 13 by the IBF.

TOTOWA, NJ – July 20, 2012 – Tomasz Adamek returns to Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on the afternoon of Saturday, September 8th when he takes on Travis Walker of Houston, the #12 contender, for the IBF’s North American Heavyweight Title.

Standing nearly 6’5″, Walker (39-7-1, 31 KO’s) is coming off a big TKO win over Kali Meehan in Australia. A true road warrior known for his size and punching power, Walker has gone the distance with #3 contender Kubrat Pulev and Ruslan Chagaev in Germany. In addition to Meehan, Walker defeated Alonzo Butler, who was 28-1 at the time.

The bout will be promoted by Main Events and Ziggy Promotions and televised in Poland via PPV. Arrangements to televise the fight in the US have not yet been made. Doors open at 1:30 PM. First bout will be at 2 pm.

Walker expressed his confidence in winning this fight, “Adamek thinks that I will be an easy win for him, but he will be greatly surprised at the combination of finesse, strength and power that I will utilize in this fight. I’m going to stop him, period.”

Walker’s promoter, Adrian L. Patrick, CEO of KO KINGS PROMOTIONS, added, “I predict that Travis will stop Adamek. At some point in the 12 rounds, Adamek will slip and Travis will destroy him.”

In his most recent bout, Adamek (46-2, 28 KO’s) captured the IBF North American heavyweight championship title when he defeated Eddie Chambers of Philadelphia, who suffered a bicep tear early in the fight.

Adamek said, “I like Travis as an opponent because he is a tough fighter and all his fights are interesting. Every fight he fights is for the fans, like me.” He added, “I have fought at Prudential Center eight times and I am excited to come back to give my fans a good fight and another exciting win.”

The undercard bouts will be announced in the coming weeks. It is expected that Philadelphia’s fast rising star, Heavyweight contender Bryant Jennings (IBF #8) will appear.

Eddie Chambers will undergo surgery today to repair an injury he suffered during his June 16th NBC Sports Network “Fight Night” battle against Tomasz Adamek.

Chambers revealed, “At the end of the first round I felt something rip. I remember thinking ‘Hey, that didn’t feel right’. It turns out I the tore a tendon that connects my bicep to the bone. I am having surgery to repair that.”

Chambers is anxious to get back in the ring, “Once I have the surgery, I will do physical therapy for about 2 months. I will keep in shape physically. You know running, and anything that doesn’t require upper body, etc. Just to stay in shape and stay ready so that once I get back it’s not going to take as long to get ready for fighting. I want to get back into a fight as soon as I possibly can after that.”

NEWARK, NJ–Tomasz Adamek scored a closer then the scores unanimous decision over Eddie Chambers in a a twelve round Heavyweight bout the featured recent world title challengers at the Prudential center.

It was a close fight that saw Chambers handicapped in the first round when he injured his left bicep. Chambers was forced to become a one handed fighter as he would pivot on his feet in order to throw jabs from a modified southpaw stance. Despite the disadvantage Chambers was able to get through with overhand rights as Adamek did not react well to the speed of Chambers.

Adamek got things rolling in the middle rounds as it was his pressure and volume to the tune of 919 to 462 punches thrown that caught the judges eyes yet Chambers out landed his foe 152-134.

A lot of the rounds were close but the judges chose the activity of Adamek over the accuracy of Chambers.

Adamek, 225 lbs of Gilowice, Poland won by scores of 116-112 on two card while a third card read an outlandish 119-109 tally. Adamek is now 46-2. Chambers, 202 lbs of Philadelphia is now 36-3.

Bryant Jennings remained undefeated and captured the USBA Heavyweight Title with a ten round unanimous decision over Steve Collins.

Jennings took a couple of rounds before opening up in round three. Jennings dropped Collins in round four from a combination that was started by an uppercut that ultimately pushed Collins into the ropes and the eight count was rendered. Over the next couple of rounds, Jennings landed some hard combinations and Collins showed a sturdy chin. Jennings continued to work the body and head with sots with both hands. Jennings rocked Collins at the end of round nine and cruised home with victory via 100-89 scores on each card.

Jennings,225 lbs of Philadelphia is 14-0. Collins, 244 lbs of Houston, TX is 25-2.

Jamaal Davis boxed his way to a eight round unanimous decision over hard punching Doel Carrasquillo in a Jr, Middleweight bout.

Davis, 154 1/2 lbs of Philadelphia won by scores of 79-73, 78-74 & 78-74and is now 14-8-1. Carrasquillo, 155 1/2 lbs of Lancaster,PA is now 16-20-1.

John Thompson remained perfect by boxing his way to a six round unanimous decision over John Mackey in a Middleweight bout.

Thompson used his decisive speed to pound out the decision by scores of 59-55, 59-55 and 58-56.

Thompson, 155 1/2 lbs of Newark is now 9-0. Mackey, 155 1/2 lbs of Washington, DC is 13-7-1.

Patrick Farrell dropped David Williams in round two and cruised home to afour round unanimous decision in a Heavyweight bout.

Farrell won by scores of 40-35, 40-35 and 39-36 and is now 7-1-1. Williams is 6-6-1.

Jose Mangu Peralta stopped Dontre King at 2:28 of round four of their scheduled six round Jr. Welterweight bout.

Peralta dropped King in round’s three and four. Peralts, 140 lbs of Jersey City, NJ is 9-1 with five knockouts. King, 142 lbs of Cambridge, MD is now 6-11-2.

Former Olympian Taureano Johnson scored a six round unanimous decision over Roberto Yong in a Middleweight bout.

Johnson landed the harder blows which included several clipping over hand rights. Yong was game as he tried to fight back and did OK in spurts but it was the volume shots of Johnson that was the difference.

Johnson, 161 1/2 lbs of Nassau, Bahamas won by scores of 58-56 on all cards and is now 9-0. Yong, 162 lbs of Sacramento, CA is now 5-5-1.

Jennings made a big splash when he agreed to step into the very first NBC Sports Network Fight Night main event. Jennings beat Maurice Byarm that night, and has been on a roll ever since. His TKO of Sergei Liakhovich on NBCSN in March proved that Jennings was no fluke. This Saturday, Jennings, 13-0, 6 KOs, makes his third appearance on the series when he takes on Steve Collins, 25-1, 18 KOs for the USBA heavyweight title in the 10-round co-feature.

The once-defeated Texan Steve Collins, 25-1-1, 18 KOs, has twice as many pro bouts as the fast-rising Bryant Jennings, and has more knockouts than Jennings has fights. So, the “Freight Train”, as his fans call him, may present a stern challenge for the new NBCSN star. With all that power, Collins will certainly be looking to test Jennings’ chin. To help him out, the Texan will have height and weight advantages over the Philadelphian. Perhaps Collins can do what Jennings’ previous 13 opponents could not.

In his first fight as a true middleweight (160 lbs.), Curtis Stevens, 22-3, 16 KOs, looks to make a splash before Adamek’s Polish fans at the Prudential Center, where he upset then undefeated Pitor Wilczewski, in his last start in Newark, on July 11, 2009. Curtis has extra incentive this time out now that his new baby boy, Amor, is in his life and inspiring him to work harder than ever. Stevens faces Marcus Upshaw, 14-7-2, 6 KOs, in an 8-rounder that will air on NBCSN between the co-feature and main event.

Marcus Upshaw:
Floridian Marcus Upshaw, 14-6-2, 6 KOs, is best known for his 2008 draw with James McGirt, Jr. His last time out he beat Durrell Richardson by unanimous decision. This time, he’s had a full five weeks of training camp, and comes to Newark with upset on his mind. The natural 160-pounder should be a real test for Curtis Stevens.

Known as “The Upset King” to many, the heavy-handed Doel Carrasquillo is the kind of guy who is in the fight until the very end, even if he falls behind on the scorecards. Doel carries fight-ending power in both fists, as upset victims Shamone Alvarez (TKO5), Denis Doughlin (TKO3), and many others can attest. His deceiving record of 16-19-1, 14 KOs, has lulled many into thinking he is a push over, but Carrasquillo always comes to fight. Jamaal Davis will have to be careful in this one.

Jamaal “Da Truth” Davis, 13-8-1, 6 KOs, is coming off a solid decision victory over tough Eberto Medina, and is looking to stay in the win column against Carrasquillo, in this his second appearance at the Prudential Center. The classic Philly fighter, has faced one tough foe after another in his career, and is always prepared to do battle. Davis has the skills to beat Carrasquillo, but will have his hands full until the final bell. Davis will have to be at his best in this must-win fight.

Jose Peralta:
Jersey City resident, Jose Peralta makes his third start at “the Rock” when he squares off against Dontre King of Maryland in a 6-round bout. In his last fight, Peralta topped Samuel Santana in tough battle, for his sixth straight victory. If he can keep that streak going against King, Peralta, 8-1, 4 KOs, may start turning some heads in the jr. welterweight division.

This Maryland measuring stick figures to test Peralta, as he has numerous other young prospects. Although he lost his last bout, Dontre King went four for five before that. If taken lightly he’s a sleeper that is ready to pounce. He’s the type of guy Peralta has to be careful with. He’s not squeamish about taking out-of-town fights, or facing rising stars with pretty records. In fact, that’s exactly what he does.

Known as the “Apollo Kid”, John Thompson is a hometown middleweight making his first-ever start at Prudential Center. He’ll try to impress the boxing-smart Newark crowd when he puts his spotless, 8-0, 3 KOs record on the line against journeyman John Mackey of Montgomery, AL. The 22-bout veteran is the most experienced fighter Thompson has ever faced.

It was not so long ago that John Mackey, 13-6-3, 6 KOs, dished a 15-0 Donald Orr his first career setback. He’ll be looking to do the same against John Thompson Saturday night. He’s previously fought before the action-hungry Prudential Center crowd, so he knows he has to come to fight. In his last bout, Mackey held 11-1 Vladine Biosse to an 8-round draw. Thompson’s mere 8-0 record has Mackey licking his chops.

Tureano Johnson:
Undefeated Tureano Johnson looks to extend his pro winning streak to nine straight with his first trip to “the Rock”. Only two fighters have avoided being knocked out by Johnson, a native of the Bahamas. As an amateur, Johnson had more than 300 bouts and spent three years in the Cuban amateur boxing program, which to a boxer, is like getting a Harvard education. Johnson faces Roberto Yong on Saturday.

Roberto Yong is coming off his upset of skilled Philadelphian Fred Jenkins, Jr. His two-fisted power punching shocked the undefeated Jenkins, who may have been caught looking past Yong’s ordinary-looking 5-4-1, 4 KOs, record. No doubt Yong will be looking to surprise Tureano Johnson when they meet in their six-round middleweight scrap.

Patrick Farrell:
A fireman from Jersey City, heavyweight Patrick Farrell, 6-1-1, 3 KOs, is no stranger to the Pru Center fans. His 4-rounder against Philly’s David Williams on Saturday will be his fourth appearance at the venue. Farrell’s only loss came at the hands of another Philadelphian, so he will be looking for some measure of revenge against Williams.

Philadelphia’s David Williams will be looking to end his three-bout losing streak when he gets in the ring with Patrick Farrell. Williams lost to rising star Bryant Jennings about one year ago, so he’s been in with some very stiff competition. He should provide a good test for Farrell, who’s 50% KO percentage may not be enough to send Williams back to Philly early.

NBC Sports Network’s second installment of Fight Night 36 premieres tomorrow night with a look at Heavyweight contender, Eddie Chambers as he prepares for his big fight against Tomasz Adamek on June 16th.

NBC’s Fight Night 36 follows Chambers as he leaves his home environment for the first time and trains at the legendary Kronk gym in Detroit. Cameras capture Chambers as he works, trains for the fight and even has a little fun. During a moment that only Fight Night 36 could capture, cameras travel with Chambers to a local hotdog stand in Detroit where he takes a break from his strict diet and forces himself to take one bite of a hotdog.

We could not be more pleased about the way we have started off this series, with the January and the March shows. There was some apprehension to be brutally honest about getting back into the boxing business, but all those fears are gone and the wonderful thing is that we can build more and more continuity. The ratings for the January and the March shows really exceeded our expectations. The nice thing about the March show is that everyone was saying . ‘Well nobody young watches boxing anymore.’ Well our strongest demo for that fight was men 18 to 34, so that’s a very key stat. We think Main Events and Peltz boxing built a very good buzz leading up to the fight, and we certainly appreciate all the support of the boxing community. TOTOWA, NJ – Main Events announced today that Tomasz Adamek and Eddie Chambers will face off in a battle of heavyweight contenders, on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at the Prudential Center, in Newark, NJ. The fight is the feature bout of the fourth edition of NBC Sports Network’s nationally televised “Fight Night” boxing series. The TV broadcast will begin at 9PM ET.

The competitive 10-round contest pits two former title challengers against each other
in an important fight that should move the winner up the heavyweight ladder, and place him closer to a second crack at one of the Klitschko brothers. Given the goal of both Adamek and Chambers is to win the heavyweight title, it figures that they are approaching this fight as a “must-win”.

Adamek, 45-2, 28 KOs, a former world light-heavyweight and cruiserweight champion, faced Vitali Klitschko for the WBC belt last September. Tomasz lost that bid for the heavyweight title by TKO after ten rounds, but bounced back nicely in March with an impressive points win over tough Nagy Aguilera in Brooklyn, NY. Adamek is driven to earn another chance at boxing’s biggest title.

Adamek spoke of Chambers, “”They say Eddie Chambers has fast hands and likes to throw punches. I am also fast and I like to throw punches. I think on June 16th we will have a very exciting fight.” Adamek is very pleased to be returning to Prudential Center, “For me the most important part of the fight is to please the boxing fans. At Prudential Center I always have many fans come to cheer me on, it is very loud, exciting. I think it will be a good show.”

In 2010, Eddie Chambers, 36-2, 18 KOs, took on IBF-WBO-IBO-Ring Magazine champion Wladimir Klitschko, in his lone try for the heavyweight crown, but was stopped in the 12th and final round. Since that bout, Chambers defeated Derric Rossy by lopsided unanimous 12-round decision, in Atlantic City last year. Chambers, a Pittsburgh-born Philly fighter, is considered by many to be the best American heavyweight on the scene.

“I never went away, but once I beat Adamek, I’m right back in the middle of it all,” said Chambers. “All respect to Tomasz. He’s exciting and has a lot of heart, but I’ll be ready for anything.”

The fight between the two contenders appears to be a fascinating clash of styles, with the aggressive Adamek likely to press Chambers, the quick-fisted boxer. Whichever fighter can do their thing better, should come out on top. But going in, this fight is too close to call.

The setting for the fight should also add a layer of excitement to the event. The Prudential Center is home turf for the Polish-born Adamek, who fights out of Jersey City. In the past, he has crammed “The Rock” numerous times with his loyal fan base, but Chambers should also expect solid support from his Philadelphia backers, just an hour’s drive away. With so much on the line between the two popular boxers, a boisterous crowd is expected to jam-pack the arena for this important heavyweight showdown.

Kathy Duva talked about the event, “This is the kind of competitive ‘pick ’em’ fight that the NBC Sports Network Fight Night Series is all about,” promoter Kathy Duva said. “We expect that Prudential Center will be a sea of red and white as Adamek makes his first appearance there in over a year. Heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek talks about his win over Nagy Aguilera

Former World Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight Champion Tomasz Adamek will face “Dominican Dynamite” Nagy Aguilera of Newburgh, New York on Saturday, March 24th at the Aviator Sports Complex in Brooklyn on the undercard to Zab Judah’s Homecoming bout against Detroit’s Undefeated Vernon Paris.

Known as “Goral” or “The Highlander” in his native Poland, Adamek (44-2, 28 KO’s) has been out of action since September when he and Heavyweight Champion Vitali Klitschko drew over 42,000 to witness their fight in a soccer stadium in Wroclaw. In Aguilera (17-6, 12 KO’s) the always explosive Adamek will face a big puncher who has scored all 12 of his knock out wins within the first four rounds.

Born in the Dominican Republic, the 25-year old traveled to Houston, Texas in his most recent bout, scoring an exciting third round TKO of hometown favorite Stacy Frazier.

The White Wolf, Sergei Liakhovich will take on Philadelphia’s hot Bryant Jennings in a 10-round co-feature, while heavyweight Tomasz Adamek makes his first ring appearance since facing Heavyweight King Vitali Klitschko on Saturday, March 24th when the NBC Sports Network’s “Fight Night” boxing series comes to Brooklyn’s Aviator Sports Complex. In the main event of the evening, Brooklyn’s Zab Judah takes on unbeaten Junior Welterweight Vernon Paris in a mandated fight for the #1 position in the IBF.

Jennings, 12-0, 5 KO’s, who made an enormous hit with the NBC Sports Network audience, last month, when he stepped into the main event on just five days’ notice on the inaugural “Fight Night” broadcast and captured the Pennsylvania Heavyweight Title in an exciting 12-round brawl with Maurice Byarm, will face one of the big men who he replaced that night. Liakhovich, 25-4, 16 KO’s, caught a tough break just a few days earlier when no suitable opponent could be found to replace top contender Eddie Chambers on short notice when he suffered two broken ribs in sparring and had to withdraw. Always ready to do battle in the ring, Liakhovich was anxious to get back on the fight calendar as soon as possible.

Vitali Klitschko continued the two headed monster of Heavyweight dominance when he stopped Tomasz Adamek in round two of their WBC Heavyweight title in Worclaw, Poland.

Klitschko was never in any trouble as he used his nearly six inch height advantage that kept Adamek on the outside and in the process eating bean-pole stiff jabs from the champion.

Klitschko landed a big right hand in round two that wobbled Adamek into the ropes that could have been ruled a knockdown but wasn’t. Klitschko did get credit for a knockdown in round six when another booming right sent him into the corner and was ruled ruled that only the ropes kept him from touching the canvas.

The beatdown continued over the next few rounds as a bloody Adamek continued to take punishment and the fight started to take on the same script that many Klitschko (Vitali and Wladimir) have taken on over the past half decade.

The end came with Vitali drilling Adamek all over thr ring by sticking jabs and right hands in Adamek’s face and the fight was correctly stopped at 2:20 of round ten

Klitschko of Kiev, Ukrane is now 44-2 with forty knockouts. Adamek of Gilowice, Poland is now 44-2.

DOVER, Del., US (July 21, 2011) — Dover Downs Hotel & Casino and the North American Boxing Organization announce the unanimous decision of the NABO Board to sanction the Amir Mansour vs. Dominick Guinn fight for the Heavyweight Interim Title on Aug. 19 in Dover, Delaware, US. The winner of the NABO Interim Championship will garner an automatic Top 15 ranking into the WBO monthly world ratings. The belt is currently held by Tomasz Adamek, who is scheduled to fight Vitali Klitschko for the WBO Heavyweight Championship.

Next month, Amir Mansour will become an international name in the sport of boxing. His road to the championship began 11 months ago at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino, when Mansour entered the ring for the first time following an eight-year prison sentence from a drug arrest. His final hour of incarceration was served in a halfway house on the morning of that fight.

During his incarceration, Mansour had a “wake-up call” which led him to turn his life around. He earned a college degree, kept himself in peak physical condition and committed to living a clean, dignified life in which his family could be proud. On Aug. 19, the man known as “Hardcore” with a record of 14-(11)-0 will face Dominick “The Southern Disaster” Guinn, 33(22)-7-1, realizing a life-long dream and a turning point for which he fought long and hard. For Mansour to reach this ranking so quickly is testament to his drive to prove himself in the sport and determination to redeem himself in the eyes of his sons, Asanti, Kazon, and Amir.

“The opportunity to fight for the NABO title is very meaningful to me,” said Mansour. “It was less than one year ago that I started on this trip – August 27th – and now with a victory, I can be rated and be in a position to make my dream come true – a world title. This opportunity will not be in overlooked. I intend on taking full advantage of it and show my critics and the world what type of fighter I am.”

Mark Reels, executive director of the NABO, indicated Mansour met the ratings criteria to compete for the interim title, leading to a unanimous decision by the NABO Board. “We are aware of Mansour’s past, and like many established prize fighters who struggled early in life, we believe when someone has paid his debt to society and conducts himself with dignity in and out of the ring, he deserves a second chance. Placing Mansour at this level is good for Delaware and for the Organization, as well.”

Guinn, of Houston, Texas, is a formidable adversary for Mansour and a seasoned boxer, ranked 11th in the nation. Guinn has been toe to toe with current top ranked heavyweights, Eddie Chambers and Tony Thompson. “This will be a great test for Amir, going against a fighter who is rarely stopped and only top contenders have beaten,” said Nick Tiberi, matchmaker. “A match of this caliber will put Amir in a position to challenge the top heavyweight fighters in the world.”

Those in the know believe Mansour is ready for the challenge. Dave Escalet, manager of the current WBC Caribbean Heavyweight title holder Franklin Lawrence and former advisor to Andrew Golota and Tomasz Adamek, concurs and states that Mansour has as much potential as Golota or Adamek.

“I truly believe that Mansour is one of the top five American heavyweights,” said Escalet. “What makes Mansour exciting is he has the aura of Mike Tyson; you feel that electricity in the audience when you go to a fight in Dover because he brings that explosive knock out power, which very few have. He is able to knock out a heavyweight with one or two punches, which is extremely rare in today’s heavyweight division. In the arena, the crowd is expecting that big punch to land anytime and it makes people come back.”

Greg Sirb, the Pennsylvania Boxing Commissioner who signed off on the fight, said of the Mansour/Guinn match, “This has the makings of being the most exciting pro boxing bout ever held in the State of Delaware.”

Tomasz Adamek tuned up for a September 10th showdown with WBC Heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko with a workmanlike twelve round pounding over Kevin McBride in front of over 7,300 mostly Polish Adamek supporters at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

It was obvious early who this fight would go as Adamek had a what looked at times a “Light Years” speed advantage over the slow, plodding and and even confused McBride as Adamek landed combination s as Adamek concentrated in working the flabby body of McBride. The combination’s were three, four and five punches at a time as it was clear what Adamek was trying to do. It looked like all McBride wanted to do was push a weak jab and lean on Adamek in an effort to tire him out. McBride started to bleed under the right eye as early as round four.

A round later, McBride began to bleed from his forehead but neither cut bothered the big Irishman during the fight. Every once in a while McBride, who did walk Adamek down for most of the fight would land a punch but with the punches that could be timed by a sun dial Adamek was able to move enough to take most of the sting of McBride’s punches.

Over the last half of the fight it was more of the same that saw Adamek move in and out and use his legs to keep away from McBride. For all of his lack of shape, McBride showed good endurance as he didint look much more fatigued then Adamek, who showed signs of tiredness which was mostly due to all the moving and the many times that McBride would lay his ample body on top of the top contender from Poland. McBride was deducted a point in round seven for excessive holding. Adamek closed the show as he landed some hard punches and the two exchanged for most of the final round with neither man ever looking like they would be hurt or knocked down.

The fight, which was billed “The Last Big Hurdle” for Adamek as he jumped over McBride with ease as he won by scores of 120-107; 119-108 and 119-1108.

Adamek, 215 lbs of Jersey City, NJ will via Gilowice, Poland will return to the homeland for what will be the biggest sporting event in the history of that European country when he takes on Adamek with a record of 44-1.

McBrdie, (every bit of) 285 lbs of Brocton, MA via Ireland is now 35-9-1.

The co-feature saw rising Welterweight and former U.S. Olympian Sadam Ali make easy work of Javier Perez by scoring a third round stoppage in a scheduled eight round bout.

Ali wasted no time by landing a left hook that sent Perez to the floor in round one. In round three, Ali landed a huge left hook that flattened Perez as he laid on the canvas for several moments.

The time of the stoppage was 2:40 of round three for Ali, 149 1/2 lbs of Brooklyn, NY who remains undefeated at 12-0 with seven knockouts. Perez, 146 1/2 lbs of Ponce, PR is now 8-5.

Andrzej Fonfara warmed up the large Polish contingent by taking out Ray Smith in round four of an eight round Light Heavyweight bout.

Fonfara landed some nice punches over the first three round and then really turned up the heat in round four as he landed a big right on the ropes that rocked Smith. he followed that up with a big combination that sent Smith to the canvas. Fonfara landed a big right off the ropes that was followed by a perfect left that sent Smith down for the ten count at 1:09 of round four.

Fonfara, 175 lbs of Chicago is now 17-2 with eight knockouts. Smith, 179 lbs of Little Rock, Arkansas is now 9-6.

Joselito Collado remained undefeated by scoring a six round split decision over Rafael Lora in a Featherweight.
Collado was cut early in round one over the right eye and it seemed to have bothered him just a tad but the cut was controlled nicely as the fight went on. The two fighters engaged in nice exchanges with each taking turns getting through with left hooks.

The fight was very close but Collado was a bit more active and scored the split decision victory by scores of 59-54 and 57-56 while Lora took a card 57-56.

Collado, 128 lbs of Queens, NY is now 12-0. Lora, 128 1/2 lbs of Irvington, NJ is now 11-4.

Jose Peralta beat up Eber Luis Perez and stopped him in round three of a scheduled six round Jr. Welterweight bout.

Peralta rocked Perez with a hard right in round two and followed up with a combination that sent Perez to the canvas. Peralta opened up round three with a hard left that started blood flow from Perez nose.
Peralta dropped Perez with a right hand later in the round. With Perez down, his corner decided to stop the bout at 2:49 of round three.

Peralta, 142 lbs of Jersey City, NJ is now 6-1 with four knockouts. Perez, 136 lbs of Cartegena, Colombia is now 12-20

Vinny O’Brien scored a fourth round stoppage over Shakir Aquel Dunn in a scheduled four round Welterweight bout.

It was a tough bout with both guys landing good shots for which O’Brien, who has a terrific fan base, got in the better shots.

In round four, O’Brien landed some thudding shots that ended with a hard combination on the ropes and the bout was stopped just nine seconds before its scheduled conclusion.

O’Brien, 146 ½ lbs of East Hanover, NJ is 2-0 with both wins coming via stoppage. Dunn, 145 lbs of Newark, NJ was making his pro debut

According to Dan Rafael of espn.com, Heavyweight champions Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko will each fight anticipated bouts in the coming months.

Wladimir will defend his IBF/WBO and Ring Magazine world championships against WBA champ David Haye on either June 25th or July 2nd in a bout that has been brewing for a couple of years while Vitali will defend his WBC strap against Tomasz Adamek providing Adamek gets by Kevin McBride this Saturday in Newark, New Jersey.

“It’s pretty simple: Wladimir was the first one in 2009 who wanted to face Haye after Haye attacked him first, verbally in London at a press conference for a charity cause,” said Klitschko manager Bernd Boente. “From the beginning it was always going in that direction. From the contract side it’s possible it could change but, as of now, they made the decision between themselves.”

There still remains a possibility that Vitali (42-2, 39 KOs), who is coming off a first-round knockout of mandatory challenger Odlanier Solis on March 19, will also fight June 4 against an opponent to be determined in Germany.

“Maybe Vitali will fight then, but it depends on the TV situation in Germany,” Boente said.

“It will be Wladimir fighting Haye and Vitali is fighting Adamek, but Adamek has to win or he’s out,” Boente said.

Boente and Adam Booth, Haye’s manager and trainer, were in New York last week meeting with American television executives about deals for the U.S. rights to the fights. HBO is the likely outlet, Boente said.

“There is interest in America but, in the end, my gut feeling tells me HBO is the station,” Boente said. “Last week we went to HBO, to Epix and to Showtime. It’s not written in stone, but I think we are back in business with HBO.”

“June 25 or July 2, but it really depends on the stadium deal,” Boente said. “We are still not sure which one it will be in. It could still be outside of Germany, but it has to be agreed on by Adam Booth and myself. This is a true 50-50 deal.”

According to Dan Rafael of espn.com, world rated Heavyweight Tomasz Adamek will take on the man who retired Mike Tyson, Kevin McBride on April 16th in either Poland or New Jersey.

“We have confirmed Kevin McBride as Adamek’s April opponent, but we were holding off on a formal announcement until after I had the chance to meet with [Adamek co-promoter] Ziggy [Rozalski] to go over the two site alternatives with him and make a decision.”, said Adamek’s promoter Kathy Duva.

It’s hard to believe that less than four years ago, Tomasz Adamek would step onto a physician’s scale the day before a fight and the balance beam would find a happy medium somewhere around 175 pounds.

Since those light heavyweight days not so long ago, where he engaged in two all-out brawls with Paul Briggs and lost a hard fought bout to Chad Dawson, Adamek has breezed through the cruiserweight division capturing the IBF and Ring Magazine championships before setting his sights on heavyweight gold.

Now, just fifteen months after bidding adieu to the cruiserweight division, the highlander from Poland will get an opportunity to become a heavyweight champion of the world.

As Dan Rafael of ESPN first reported yesterday, Adamek and his camp — Main Events & Ziggy Promotions — publicly announced that they had finalized a contract to fight one of the Klitschko brothers in September, at one of two newly constructed stadiums in Poland.

The initial report stated that if both Vitali and Wladimir win their upcoming bouts, against Odlanier Solis and Derek Chisora, respectively, it will be most likely be Wlad who steps through the ropes in September to participate in one of the biggest fights in Polish boxing history.

If one brother loses, Adamek will square off against the brother who won, and if both fall, the fight with Adamek is off.

The last condition states that the Pole must win his April 16 bout in Katowice, Poland against the always dangerous TBA in order for his September title bout to take place.

While the fight will no longer be against Samuel Peter, as once reported, but it will come against “a popular opponent who is taller than me,” according to Adamek.

Back in December, at the post fight press conference for the Adamek-Vinny Maddalone fight, Duva admitted to reporters that she had been in contact with representatives of the Ukrainian champions.

While acknowledging the two sides had participated in discussions regarding a championship title bout, Duva shot down rumors that Adamek would do battle with a Klitschko in March of 2011 at Madison Square Garden, which was a popular rumor in early December. The significant of a heavyweight title fight taking place in March at Madison Square Garden is because it would mark the 40th anniversary of “The Fight of Century” between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier.

While I presume there was some appeal to make that fight in late March at the Garden from a marketing standpoint, Duva ultimately stayed loyal to the Prudential Center in Newark, which has become Adamek’s home away from home.

I imagine that for the Klitschko’s there is little appeal in fighting in Newark. Therefore, the fight shifts to Poland, where new stadiums are sprouting up throughout the nation to prepare for EURO Cup 2012, when they will play co-hosts to the big soccer tournament, along with the Ukraine.

As recent as July 2009 there was buzz around the soccer world that the scheduled host counties might possibly be switched to Hungary and Germany if the building of the facilities in Poland and the Ukraine didn’t pick up the pace.

With hard work, Poland put skeptics to rest as three entirely new stadiums will be up and running by the time EURO 2012 rolls around. Two of them are in the running to host Adamek vs. Klitschko.

Both Stadion Majeski and Stadion Nawodwy (National Stadium) are set to be completed in June 2011. The Stadion Nawodwy, which is located in the capital city of Warsaw, will be able to seat 56,000, while Stadion Majeski, located in the city of Wroclaw, will hold 42,771.

Geographically, Wroclaw is significantly closer to the German border than Warsaw. A fight at the Stadion Miejeski in theory could draw more Klitschko supporters than if it were to be held in the further Stadion Nawodwy. Make no mistake, however, regardless of location, this crowd will be overwhelmingly pro-Adamek, but being that the Klitschko brothers are now based out of Germany, thousands of their supports will undoubtedly spill over the German-Polish border to witness their beloved champion do battle, whichever brother it may be.

For me, the most intriguing part about this fight is that one of the champions will be facing the best Tomasz Adamek they can possibly face. Unlike most of their recent opponents, who prematurely jump at the chance to get a crack at the crown, Adamek has been to the top of the mountain in two different weight classes already.

He has set goals for himself and hasn’t stopped until he has grabbed titles. For the last fifteen months, Adamek and his team have been preparing for the very moment that will come in September.

He has proven he could take a heavyweight’s punch when he duked it out with Chris Arreola over twelve rounds. He has proven he could beat a taller fighter when he outpointed the 6’7” Michael Grant. And perhaps most importantly as a heavyweight, Adamek proved that he is world class boxer.

After his first two heavyweight fights — against Andrew Golota and Jason Estrada — Adamek and his longtime trainer Andrzej Gmitruk split ways, allowing Gmitruk to tend to his own health concerns. That’s when “Goral” picked up Roger Bloodworth as his primary trainer.

Since linking up with Bloodworth, Adamek is noticeably more mobile. He has Americanized his fight-game and sharpened his defense. He hits and he moves. He throws countless combinations and less willing to go blow-for-blow with an opponent, as he was accustomed to at lower weight classes.

Adamek was quicker than the five heavyweights he’s faced so far, and he’ll be quicker than both Klitschkos. I don’t think many people will be giving Adamek much of a chance against either Klitschko, but it’s comforting to know that the to-be-challenger is a ex-champion who deserves his crack at heavyweight glory.

At the age of 34 and having done it twice already, Adamek knows what it takes to be world champion. After handpicking opponents to prepare him for a meeting with one of the Ukrainian giants, come September Adamek will be as ready as he’ll ever be.

Dan Rafael of espn.com is reporting that former two-division world champion Tomasz Adamek will challenge either Wladimir or Vitali Klitschko in September in Adamek’s homeland of Poland.

“I am ecstatic. I can’t even put it into words,” Main Events CEO Kathy Duva said. “To work so hard with Tomasz with a goal in mind — moving him up to heavyweight, getting a heavyweight title fight. We got him there and we got a good deal.”

Said Bernd Boente, who manages the Klitschko brothers, “We made some changes, their side and our side. We now agree on everything. We have a go from both sides for a fight in September.”

The fight will take place at a new soccer stadium being built in either Warsaw or Wroclaw, Poland. Duva said there are four new stadiums being built in Poland for the 2012 European Soccer Championships and that two of the stadiums are bidding for the fight.

“There is this window of opportunity for this fight because of the stadiums being built in Poland,” Duva said. “It will be a huge event in Poland.”

If both Klitschkos were to lose, the deal with Adamek would be dead. If one loses, Adamek, a former light heavyweight titlist before winning the cruiserweight championship, would face the other brother under terms of the deal, Boente and Duva said.

If both Klitschkos win, the choice of Adamek’s opponent would be decided by the Klitschko side.

“Either one, their option,” Duva said. “We don’t care which one it is. They have to tell us something like 90 days before the fight which one it will be. Tomasz’s attitude is, ‘I want a heavyweight title fight. I don’t care which one of them I fight.'”

“Knock on wood, both brothers win their respective fights and then we will make a decision,” Boente said.

However, if they both win it is likely to be Wladimir against Adamek, both sides said.

Top Heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek stopped veteran Vinny Maddalone in round five of a scheduled twelve round Heavyweight bout at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

It was evident early that Adamek’s handspeed would be a problem for Maddalobe as he pushed him back more with speed then with force. Maddalone got into the fight in round two as he connected on a couple flush shots. In round four, Adamek rocked Maddalone with a hard combination that seemingly had the Queens native in trouble but Maddalone contibued to fight back as he winged in some right hands.

Adamek dropped Maddalone in round five from a blistering three punch combination that was cleaned up by a pinpoint left hook to the head. Maddalone was hurt but showed tremendous courage as he fought his heart out as he was throwing wild hayemakers while Adamek was throwing a rapid fire onslaught in an effort to finish Maddalone off. He got that seconds later as with Maddalone eating hard punch after hard punch, Maddalone’s corner saved their fighter from any further damage as the fight was stopped at 2:17 of round five.

Adamek, 216 1/2 lbs of Gilowice, Poland is now 43-1 with twenty-eight knockouts. Maddalone. 230 lbs of Queens, NY is now 33-7.

Patrick Majewski vs. Eddie Caminero — 8 Rounds, Middleweights

In an absolute war, the Polish-born, New Jersey-based Patrick Majewski scored a thrilling 8th round KO over Lawrence, Massachusett’s Eddie Caminero.

From start to finish, both fighters were willing to stand in trade punches with one another, willing to get hit to land one of their own.

In the opening round, both fighter’s dug in and stood their ground, throwing ill-intentioned punches, with Majewski getting the better of Caminero — who started to bleed from a cut over his left eye.

In the second round, it was more of the same, except Caminero got the better of Majewski, opening up a cut of the fan-favorite’s right eye.

Round three echoed that of the first two, with the Polish fans increasingly getting louder in their support for Majewski, chanting “Polska! Polska!” and “Majewski! Majewski!”

By the time the bell sounded to end round three, Caminero was starting to bleed above his right eye.

Both fighters continue to trade bombs to the crowds delight until the 1:20 seconds into the 8th round when Majewski landed a huge right hand that sent Caminero to the canvass, where referee Sparkle Lee immediately called a halt to the bout.

With the win, Majewski stays undefeated and improves to 15-0, 10 KOs, while Caminero drops to 7-4, 7 KOs.–Kyle Kinder

Former U.S. Olympian got what amounted to a sparring session with tough Manuel Guzman as Ali pounded out an eight round unanimous decision in a Welterweight bout.

Ali peppered Guzman with an assortment of right hands and jabs and mixed in some nice body shots.

Ali, 147 lbs of Brooklyn, won on all cards by an 80-72 tally to raise his record to 11-0. Guzman, 145 lbs of San Juan, PR is now 7-10-2.

Gabriel Rosado vs. Jose Medina

Philadelphia’s “King” Gabriel Rosado earned a well-deserved unanimous decision over Guadalajara, Mexico’s Jose Medina. Rosado was awarded the decision by scores of 80-72, 79-72, and 78-73.

Rosado worked well behind an effective jab, which help set up devastating right hands.

Midway through the round, Rosado was able to tag Medina, who now resides in New Hampshire, with a right cross that sent him off-balance, ultimately forcing his glove to touch the canvass in order to keep his body off it. Rosado was awarded the knockdown, as Medina was able get up and survive the round.

The bout’s most exciting action came in the opening minute of round four which saw Rosado aggressively attack Medina, landing an overhand right that momentarily hurt Medina. Rosado followed up quickly, throwing heavy punches, landing two left hooks to the right side of Medina’s face.

To his credit, Medina was unwilling to back down as he stood in the pocket and fired right back at Rosado, ultimately warded off the North Philadelphia native’s attack.

In the end, Medina was unable to muster up anything significant, and Rosado rolled to a unanimous decision victory.

With the win, Rosado improves to 15-5, 8 KOs, while Medina drops to 12-9, 5 KOs.–Kyle Kinder

Tarvis Simms returned after a year layoff to score a six round unanimous decision

Simms rocked Lockett in round one with a hard counter right and a left-right to the head sent Lockett down. He beat referee Benji Esteves count and got out of round one. In round two, Simms landed a big left that rocked Lockett once more and buckled him in round three with yet another hard left as Simms switched between orthodox and southpaw. Simms jabbed well and landed some nice combination’s as he cruised to the decision.

Simms, 167 lbs of Norwalk, CT won by scores of 6054; 60-53 and 60-53 to 26-1-1. Lockett, 167 lbs of Takoma Park, MD is now 12-11-5.

Angel Concepcion vs. Lekan Byfield

Newark, New Jersey’s Angel Concepcion easily outpointed Yonkers, New York’s Lekan Byfield to improve his already perfect record to 4-0. All three judges scored the bout in favor of Concepcion, 40-36.

Concepcion hurt Byfield multiple times throughout the bout, the most notable coming midway through round 3 when Concepcion connected flush with a straight right hand. While Byfield was hurt, the Newark native did little to follow up, however, letting precious time pass in between throwing punches.

Byfield fought with his hands down for the most of the fight, invited Concepcion to land punches on to his ill-defended face.

In the end, it was an easy win for Concepcion, while Byfield dropped his pro debut. —Kyle Kinder

Bryant Jennings scored scored a second round stoppage over Randy Smith in a four round Heavyweight bout.

Jennings dropped Smith with a hard right and when he got up he was wobbly and referee Sparkle Lee stopped the bout at 2:18 of round two.

Jennings 223 lbs of Philadelphia is now 5-0 with three knockouts. Smith, 256 1/2 lbs of Cortland, NY loses his pro debut.
