TYRONE JAMES AND RYAN O’ROURKE SHINE AT “SHORE WARS”

Wantagh, Long Island (November 18, 2022) – Fans were treated to no shortage of action in last nights “Shore Wars” in Wantagh. Thursday night marked the first ever professional boxing fight card in Mulcahy’s history. With a unique fan experience that includes table seating and waiter service for food and drinks, the in very intimate setting is a boxing fans dream. All of the action can be seen on replay at StarBoxing.TV.

In the main event, the crowd roared as undefeated super welterweight, “THE JACKPOT” TYRONE “PRETTY BOY” JAMES, in classic “Pretty Boy” style, danced his way to the ring during his ring walk, to stand across OMAR “THE GRINCH” SIALA (now, 39-21-3 23KO’s). James was busy early, sticking his jab and moving with a purpose. Whenever Siala was near the ropes, James took advantage by letting his hands go. James hurt Siala in the middle of the first round, but Siala survived. In the second, James continued his onslaught, finding a home around Siala’s defensive guard, and dropped Siala, who beat the count. James could see Siala wilting and pounced, closing the show at 1:19 into the second round. With the win, James sets himself up for big opportunities in 2023. James improved to 13-0 10KO’s, Siala fell to 39-21-3 23KO’s.

James summarized his emphatic victory, “I want to thank Star Boxing and everyone who showed up to Shore Wars! It was so great ending the year with that turn out and I hope to see you guys back at the next fight. As for the fight I take my hat off to my opponent Omar, he was a cagey vet who had more knockouts (23) then I had fights (12). He came out here and tried to upset ‘The Jackpot,’ but looks like the casino won again. Enjoy the holidays see you next year – ‘CHA CHING.’”

Irish standout “THE SILENT ASSASSIN” RYAN O’ROURKE returned stateside for the second time looking to add to his unblemished record against heavy handed German ANDREAS “MAESTRO” MAIER. While Maier entered with six knockouts in his eight victories, it was the 23-year-old O’Rourke who displayed accurate power shots, taking the fight right to Maier from the opening bell. Maier tried to fight through O’Rourke’s frenzy, but the 6’1” Irishman was too much for him, dropping Maier three times with a sharp right hand, on his way to a first-round stoppage at 2:53 of the first round. O’Rourke improved to 9-0, 2KO’s. Maier fell to 8-7 6KO’s.

Rising Long Island prospect, ZAY “NO CHOICE” FLAHERTY, wasted no time doing what he does best, attacking the body of KEENAN RAYMOND. Raymond started fast, but Flaherty maintained his composure and would return the favor dropping Raymond with a body shot. Raymond would rise, but Flaherty was on the attack and would drop Raymond two more times, before referee Al LoBianco stopped the fight at the 2:43 mark of round one. Flaherty improved to 5-0 3KO’s. Raymond fell to 1-5-1.

The highly anticipated all NY Cruiserweight battle between Uniondale’s, EMMANUEL ETIENNE and the Bronx, AFUNWA KING did not disappoint. King and Etienne both came out of the gate with an adrenalin rush opening minute. King got the better of the first big exchange, hurting Etienne to the body, before coming back upstairs with a big right hand that floored Etienne. Etienne rose before the ten-count, but referee Al LoBianco would call a stop to the action at the 2:51 mark of round one. King improved to 6-1 3KO’s, previously undefeated, Etienne fell to 2-1 1KO.

In another all–New York super featherweight bout, IMAN LEE of Yonkers fought DOM BREEN of Staten Island. Lee put the pedal to the metal, never allowing Breen to get comfortable. Fighting behind crisp straight punches, Lee took control and never gave it up, scoring three knockdowns on his way to a first round TKO victory at the 2:47 mark of the first round.

Star Boxing CEO Joe DeGuardia had this to say about the fights, “It was an interesting night and based on the fan reaction, they enjoyed the fights and ambience. Tyrone James and Ryan O’Rourke shined and showed they are both ready to take the next step in their respective careers with dominant victories. We are happy to have added yet another successful event in 2022, and look forward to presenting more thrilling action soon.”

TYRONE JAMES LOOKS TO HIT THE JACKPOT ONCE AGAIN ON THURSDAY NIGHT (11/17) AT SHORE WARS

Wantagh, New York (November 4, 2022) – “THE JACKPOT” TYRONE “PRETTY BOY” JAMES (12-0 9KO’s) returns at Mulcahy’s in Wantagh, Long Island, on Thursday night (November 17) at “Shore Wars.” James will face off with OMAR “THE GRINCH” SIALA in a super welterweight showdown main event. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased HERE.

From his pro debut in 2015, Tyrone James began cementing himself as a must see attraction every time out. His first prove it test came in January of 2018 at “Rockin’ Fights” 29, when he took on Alex Duarte (then 13-3-1 10KO’s) in a scheduled 6-round fight. In a back and forth first round, James began to find his timing and exploded when he feinted by crouching down, before coming back up to land a precise left hand, followed by a barrage of nearly 15 punches which caused referee Pat Sullivan to stop the fight at the 1:45 mark of the third round.

Watch the full James-Duarte fight by clicking HERE

James would continue to remain perfect, defeating Keasen Freeman with a seismic one punch first round knockout (watch the knockout HERE), followed by Leo Carrizalez with an insane 7 consecutive uppercuts 8th round TKO (watch the knockout HERE).   Ray Oliveira Jr. was next on the James list of knockout victims, as James pinned Oliveira in the corner and landed a multi punch combination causing Pat Sullivan to step in at the 1:47 mark of round 2 (watch the knockout HERE). Finally in his first main event at “Rockin’ Fights” James dropped Denis Knifechief in the first round and closed the show in the 4th of the scheduled 8 round bout.

All the momentum came to a halt thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, followed by an elbow surgery (Tommy John surgery) that had James out of the ring for two years and six months. Finally, the day came on March 18th, and James was ready to blast back on the scene. Wasting no time, James took on well respected Jimmy Williams (then 18-6-2 6KO’s) in what was a feet to the fire return to action at “Rockin’ Fights” 41. After shaking off some rust, a perfectly timed 4th round counter overhand right launched over a Williams jab and landed flush. Wowing the packed crowd in attendance, the dynamite right hand caused a stop the fight at the 2:34 mark of round 4. The full James-Williams bout can be viewed at on Star Boxing TV HERE.

On Thursday night at “Shore Wars”, James looks to make tack on another statement victory against respected German born, OMAR “THE GRINCH” SIALA (39-20-3 23KO’s) over 8 rounds. James is ready for the opportunity in front of him. James had this to say about the bout, “It’s The Jackpot the new ABO Champ and Mr. Main Event is back November 17! I’m going for my 7th KO in a row. Make sure you buy a ticket because this fight here, you don’t wanna miss!!! Say it with me ‘CHA CHING.'”

ADDED SPECIAL FEATURED BOUT: “THE JACKPOT” TYRONE “PRETTY BOY” JAMES LOOKS TO REMAIN UNDEFEATED SATURDAY NIGHT (6/11) AT ROCKIN’ FIGHTS 42

Long Island, New York (June 9, 2022) – Rockin’ Fights 42 is ready to take over The Paramount in Huntington, Long Island on Saturday night (June 11). Star Boxing announced today that featured on the card is local undefeated super welterweight, “THE JACKPOT” TYRONE “PRETTY BOY” JAMES (Elmont, NY 12-0 9KO’s). James returns to “Rockin’ Fights” after an electric fourth round stoppage victory over a big step up opponent in Jimmy “Quiet Storm” Williams this past March. James seeks to keep his undefeated record on June 11th, and do it in “Pretty Boy” style, as he steps up once again against Colombian, JANER GONZALEZ (Miami, FL by way of Colombia, 20-4-1 16KO’s), in an 8 round super welterweight bout.

Gonzalez has faced off with some big time prospects, contenders and champions such as undefeated WBA Welterweight World Champion, Eimantas Stanionis (then, 11-0 9KO’s), Ivan Golub (then 19-1 14KO’s) and former WBA Interim World Champion, Jamal James (then 24-1 12KO’s). James will seek to elevate his status once more with a key victory over an opponent with Gonzalez’s stature.

Also on the Star Boxing acclaimed series, Ireland’s “SUPERFLY” TONY BROWNE (Dublin, Ireland, 5-1) returns to the USA quickly after his recent April 9th ‘step-up’ unanimous decision victory at Rivers Casino over Leandro Silva. Brown will take on Star Boxing stablemate, Brazilian bomber, LUCAS MARTINS (Sao Paulo, Brazil, 13-1 11KO’s) in an 8-round super middleweight bout. This June 11th fight at the Paramount will be the biggest fight and test of the young Irishmen’s career, and a victory will put him on the map in the states, leading to bigger opportunities. However, Martins, who is coming off a victory in his native Brazil and was seen on DAZN back in October in a respectable performance against heralded prospect Diego Pacheco, is also a well-regarded prospect. The winner of this fight figures to have a bright future in the super middleweight division.

In a possible show stealer, ISAAH FLAHERTY (Elmont, NY, 3-0 1KO) will put his undefeated record on the line against the tough QUADEER JENKINS (Trenton, NJ 2-3 2KO’s) in a 4-round super middleweight fight that could steal the show. Flaherty returns to The Paramount after taking home a unanimous decision over Angelo Thompson. Jenkins, who fought on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz back in 2019, is coming off a second round TKO victory on May 13 and will look to keep the momentum going by snatching Flaherty’s undefeated record.

In a battle of pro debut’s, two-time New York Ring Masters Champion RONNY REYES (New York, NY, Pro Debut) looks to start his career on the right foot in a 4 round lightweight bout against a fellow pro debut in HECTOR BECERRA (Corpus Christi, TX, Pro Debut).

Bronx firefighter, LOUIS “IL MARTELLO” MAIETTA (Bronx, NY 1-1-1) looks to get back in the win column against DEQUINT “BEYOU” HILL (Austin, Texas, 0-1) who will attempt to secure his first victory as a professional in a scheduled 4 round light heavyweight bout.

“This is a fun card from top to bottom that will once again bring excitement to the Paramount on Saturday, June 11th,” said Star Boxing CEO JOE DEGUARDIA. “The action at the Paramount rivals any location in the world and the fighters always seem to put it all on the line in that famed ‘telephone booth’ sized ring at the Paramount. Tyrone James has really become a fan favorite and could be the next one to graduate to the bright lights. The undercard once again should be thrilling 50/50 fights that promise to captivate the fans in attendance. It’s always great to be at “Rockin’ Fights,” and we hope to see you there.”

The Cletus Seldin vs Rachid Jkitou bout that was scheduled for 10 rounds for the NABA Super Lightweight Title will not proceed due to a Jkitou medical issue. It is hopeful that a new opponent will be announced for Cletus Seldin Thursday afternoon.

ROCKIN’ FIGHTS 41 RESULTS: SOLD OUT PARAMOUNT THRILLS

Long Island, New York (March 20, 2022) — A sold out Paramount was draped in Ukrainian flags from the rafters to ringside as a prideful OLEH “UKRAINE PITBULL” DOVHUN (now 14-0 5KO’s) made his first defense of his NABA Super Bantamweight title against gritty Belgium bruiser GERAM ELOYAN in an absolutely grueling 10 round main event.

Dovhun garnered the energy of his throngs of Ukraine supporters, starting fast and strong dictating the action. His impressive work rate continued through the first three rounds when a clash of heads caused a cut over his left brow. The fourth round saw the fight turn into a grueling bloody battle of wills. Dovhun’s work rate continued to impress but Eloyan was finding a home for his left hook. In the 6th round, Eloyan buzzed Dovhun with a hard left, but Dovhun returned fire with an eight punch combination. Eloyan (now 7-3 6 KO’s) came on strong in the back half of the battle but it would prove to be too little too late as Dovhun, maintaining an extraordinary work-rate, defended his title and took home a split decision by scores of 96-94 (Dovhun), 97-93 (Eloyan), 97-93 (Dovhun).

In the 8 round co feature, TYRONE “PRETTY BOY” JAMES (now 12-0 9KO’s) returned to the Paramount after nearly 3 years out of the ring caused by the COIVD-19 hiatus and Tommy John surgery on his elbow due to a torn UCL. James opposed New Haven’ veteran JIMMY “QUIET STORM” WILLIAMS (now 18-7-2 6KO’s) for the vacant ABO North American Super Welterweight Title.

Williams, fresh off his upset over former world champ Yuri Foreman, controlled the pace early forcing James to fight off his back foot. In the second round, a James counter right impressed the crowd even though Williams continued to press the action. James appeared to be shaking off the ring rust while working off the back foot and began to find his timing. Midway through the fourth round James landed a picture perfect counter right over a lingering jab of Williams, blasting Williams into the ropes. Williams was hurt, and James unleashed in the corner, throwing power punches with blazing speed and accuracy in an impressive onslaught. The barrage of punches forced the referee to stop the fight as a wobbling Williams tried to stay upright on very shaky legs. With the TKO victory James was crowned the new ABO North American Champion.

WENDY “HAITIAN FIRE” TOUSSAINT (now 13-1 6KO’s) wasted no time getting back to his winning ways, eating up TRAVIS GAMBARDELLA (now 7-2-2 3KO’s). Toussaint landed a hard right midway through the first round, and then unleashed a vicious seven punch combination while tracking Gambardella into the ropes before landing the final blow causing the referee to step in and stop the action.

Brooklyn’s KAMRON HUMPHREY (now 3-0 2KO’s) bested Bronx native LOUIS MAIETTA (now 1-1-1) via a 2nd round TKO in the scheduled 4 round bout.

ISAAH FLAHERTY (now 3-0 2KO’s) and ANGELO THOMPSON (now 0-1) went to battle over their 4 round super welterweight contest with Flaherty coming out on top by unanimous decision in a fan friendly, entertaining scrap.

“The fans came early and stayed late for another exciting “Rockin’ Fights” at the Paramount” said Star Boxing CEO JOE DEGUARDIA. “I was humbled and impressed with all the Ukrainian flags and fans. Their unity in traveling to support Oleh Dovhun in his grueling and gutsy title fight defense was truly inspiring. It was also nice to see Tyrone James shine after his surgery with an explosive stoppage in a true step up fight. Thank you to ALL the fighters, their teams, my staff, the Paramount and the fans who continue to impress me every show. Looking forward to be back in June at the Paramount for “Rockin’ Fights” 42!”

Top undefeated boxing talent from New York, Connecticut and even Ireland will showcase their skill at Catskills Clash III.

James’ success in the ring derives from his length and athleticism. This comes as no surprise as James’ father was a standout athlete, playing professional football for the USFL with the Oklahoma Outlaws and his Uncle, Jerry, was a 1988 National Golden Glove Champion.

New York, September 21, 2019

Star Boxing’s “Rockin’ Fights” has been a staple in the New York boxing scene since its inception in 2011. Eight years later, the acclaimed fight series is continuing to thrive, proven by last night’s electric atmosphere, and thrilling fights.

In the main event, TYRONE “PRETTY BOY” JAMES (Elmont, NY now 11-0 8KO’s) brought the fight to the Oklahoma native, DENNIS “THE PAWNEE EXPRESS” KNIFECHIEF (Shawnee, OK now 12-11-1 5KO’s) in the scheduled 8-round super welterweight bout. James wasted no time in taking control of the fought, as just five punches into the first round, he dropped Knifechief with a three-punch combination. To Knifechief’s credit, he got off the canvas, and continued to fight. However, the next four rounds would be more of the same, as James lived up to his promise of showing flash, speed and power. Finally, 28 seconds into the fifth round, referee Tony Chiarantano had seen enough and stopped the action.

James had this to say about his first main event victory, “It was a great fight. The opponent [Knifechief] was tough as nails. I’m happy I was able to get rounds in and I hope I made the crowd proud with my 5th KO in the row. “

In the co-feature bout, Dominican Republic rising star, and #24 world rated bantamweight, JUNIOR “BOMBITA” ALMONTE (Dominican Republic, now 13-0 9KO’s) defended his WBC FECARBOX Bantamweight title against amateur standout, ERNESTO GARZA III (Saginaw, MI now 10-3 6KO’s). If you missed this fight, we highly suggest you catch up by watching it, HERE. This fight had fight of the year excitement, written all over it and it lived up to expectations. Almonte and Garza traded absolute bombs for eight straight rounds. Both men were sharp and in excellent condition, and took turns demonstrating their power and speed. Almonte scored a knockdown in the 4th round, but Garza, would not allow it to faze him, jumping right back into the action-packed fight. Both fighters left every ounce of themselves in the ring. After the eight heated and crowd-pleasing rounds, the undefeated Almonte retained his title, winning a unanimous decision. (78-73 (x2), 77-74)

Almonte had this to say about his US debut, “I knew it was going to be a tough. Mexicans are warriors, plus I had never fought a southpaw before. I’m just glad that I was able to showcase my skill in the USA. People are going to remember the name ‘Bombita’ for a long time”

If you thought that you were in a soccer stadium, during the ALEX “EL TORO” VARGAS (Bellport, NY now 4-0 1KO) vs DEO KIZITO (Silver Springs, MD by way of Uganda, now 3-4 2KO’s), we understand why. Chants, songs and cheers broke out from the masses at The Paramount, rooting on Long Island favorite, and New York Golden Glove champion, Alex Vargas. Vargas displayed great speed in his combinations throughout the four-round fight and Kizito exhibited a great ability to give and take. At the end of the four rounds, Vargas earned the unanimous decision victory. (40-36 (x3))

Etienne controlled the action for much of the fight showing impressive speed and movement for a Cruiserweight. Attacking both the head and body, Etienne left Johnson on unsteady legs more than one time during the fight. In the third-round, Etienne closed in on Johnson, bearing down with flush body to head combinations, causing the referee to stop the action, 35 seconds into the third round, earning the TKO victory in his pro-debut.

TYRONE “PRETTY BOY” JAMES IS POISED TO BE THE NEXT PARAMOUNT STAR; HEADLINES SEPT 20 FIGHTS

New York, September 19, 2019

Eight fights ago, “THE JACKPOT” TYRONE “PRETTY BOY” JAMES (Elmont, NY 10-0 7KO’s) entered The Paramount in Huntington, NY for the first time. The date was March 5, 2016 and “The Jackpot” was opposing Neyeine Muang in a 4-round welterweight contest. From that point on, James had one goal on his mind, headline a “Rockin’ Fights.” This Friday, September 20, he will realize his dream as he will be the main event at the storied venue.

Tyrone James has been on some impressive “Rockin’ Fights” cards that include some of Long Island’s biggest success stories. In 2016, James appeared on the undercard of CLETUS “THE HEBREW HAMMER” SELDIN, the record holder for most appearances at The Paramount. In November of 2018, James appeared on the undercard of the orginal king of The Paramount, former World Champion, CHRIS ALGIERI. However, the time has come for James to reach his goal, to have his name next to Paramount legends, who were all developed at the renown venue in Huntington, later going on to be title contenders, and world champions.

Does James feel pressure knowing that the likes of Chris Algieri, Cletus Seldin and JOE SMITH JR. amongst others, were developed and performed at the highest level of the sport by becoming Paramount headliners, exactly where James finds himself on Friday night? “P ressure?” said James, “from what i know, pressure makes diamonds, so if there’s any pressure it must be good pressure for me to succeed.” While he may not feel the pressure of living up to the Paramount legends, James is not taking this opportunity lightly, ” It means a lot to me. A lot of great fighters have headlined at The Paramount, and to have my name beside theirs means a lot.”

As for what fans can expect come Friday night’s main event, as per usual, the charismatic James was not bashful, “fans can expect a great show. Speed, power and flash, because I make sure you see that every time i come out.”

Rockin’ Fights 36 is promoted by JOE DEGUARDIA’S STAR BOXNG. Tickets to Rockin’ Fights 36 can be purchased below, as well as at the Paramount box office.

JUNIOR “BOMBITA” ALMONTE DEFENDS WBC FECARBOX BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE AT PARAMOUNT AGAINST ERNESTO GARZA III ON SEPTEMBER 20

Star Boxing has an exciting regional title fight that will co-feature the September 20 card at The Paramount. Dominican Republic native, JUNIOR “BOMBITA” ALMONTE (12-0 9KO’S), will be defending his WBC FECARBOX Bantamweight title against a talented Michigan super bantamweight powerhouse, ERNESTO GARZA III (10-3 6KO’S). The critically acclaimed “Rockin’ Fights”series will be headlined by Long Island’s own undefeated super welterweight, TYRONE “PRETTY BOY” JAMES (Elmont, NY 10-0 7KO’s).

Through trials and tribulations both fighters have earned their way onto the September 20 card at The Paramount. Junior Almonte, was an outstanding amateur and shows great promise for the Bantamweight division. As an amateur he had a record for 92 wins and 8 defeats with 4 victories over highly respected Olympians. Almonte is world ranked by WBC (#24) . In Almonte’s most recent bout against ANGELO “EL OLIMPICO” MUNOZ, Almonte showcased his power with a first-round TKO. Almonte is proving to be a knockout machine who is prepared to take the world of boxing by storm, starting with his United States debut. On September 20th, Almonte for the first time in his young and bright career will fight on American soil at The Paramount and will be looking to finish Garza like he finished his previous six of seven opponents.

Almonte had this to say about the great opportunity that is ahead of him, “The first phase of my training was in the Dominican Republic, and the second phase has been in the US and everything is going well. I am going to do my best to Impress the American fans and I am thankful to be on American soil defending my title. God willing, there will be greater things ahead. I want to do a good job and show that there is talent in the Dominican Republic, and I am just very happy for this opportunity.”

However, standing in Almonte’s way is, Ernesto Garza III, who is more than ready for his shot at the WBC FECARBOX Bantamweight title. Garza’s pedigree and experience actually exceeds that of Almonte. As an amateur, Garza holds many National titles including the 2008 national Golden Gloves title at 119 pounds. He finished third in 2009, then fought at 125 pounds in the U.S. National Championships, also finishing third. As a pro, Garza has taken on top prospects Including several bouts on Showtime. Garza has fought at weights over 130 lbs, seeking money and opportunity but is now fighting Almonte as his natural 118 lbs division. In his latest fight Garza dominated JENO TONTE by TKO in round 1. Garza knows a lot is on the line for him as well, and a win over undefeated Almonte on September 20, will skyrocket him up the world rankings in the bantamweight division.

Garza had this to say about his co-feature bout on September 20, “First off I would have to thank my Lord and Savior and Jesus Christ for blessing me with this big opportunity and victory and Split-T-Management Davud McWater and Joe Quiambao for making this fight happen. This will be just the beginning from me and it feels great to win a title that would put me in the ranking of the WBC. The fans can expect the best out of me to give it my all in the ring. I’ll give the fans what they want to see. I’ll be the one forcing the fight. He’s never fought anybody like me before, my resume speaks for itself. It’s gonna be a fight and the fans can expect me to come out on top.”

These hard punching bantamweights come from different parts of the world, but on September 20th they will meet at The Paramount for what promises to be a thrilling fight. For Junior it’s an opportunity that will open doors for him in the United States. For Garza, it’s a shot to prove he the heralded prospect that he was considered when he came out of the US amateur program at 118 lbs. This will be a promising fight and will leave little room for imagination.

CEO of Star Boxing, JOE DEGUARDIA, had this to say about the bout, “We are very excited to bring Junior Almonte to the United States against one of the toughest possible guys out there. Almonte has dominated in the Dominican Republic, and he has his WBC FECARBOX Title to show for it. But Garza is a special fighter himself. This is an eagerly anticipated fights by ‘those in the know’ as Garza is a very experienced and tough known quality fighter. I expect a thrilling fight for the fans at The Paramount come September 20.”

New York, July 21, 2019

Star Boxing’s “Rockin’ Fights” on Friday night brought the summer heat to The Paramount. All five bouts were fan friendly, with thrilling action form start to finish.

In the main event DANNY “EL GALLO” GONZALEZ (now 18-2-1 7KO’s) went to war with JEROME “CONQUEROR” CONQUEST (now 10-5 1KO) in a classic New York vs Philadelphia battle. From the opening bell both fighters were going for broke, later turning into an all out war for the WBC FECARBOX Silver super lightweight title. Both Gonzalez and Conquest had impressive moments in the first half of the fight, letting their hands fly and scoring to both the body and the head. In the second half of the fight Gonzalez showed off his incredible stamina and punch rate by continuously bringing the fight to Conquest. “Rockin’ Fights” is presented by JOE DEGUARDIA’S STAR BOXING, on a great night of action at The Paramount, in Huntington, Long Island with a WBC FECARBOX Silver Title on the line in the main event between DANNY “EL GALLO” GONZALEZ vs JEROME “THE CONQUEROR” CONQUEST. Featured on the undercard will be highly touted prospect RONNIE “TEFLON RON” AUSTION challenging for the ABO America’s Welterweight Title against champion DENNIS “BILLABONG” OKOTH, as well as undefeated, Long Island fan favorite, “THE JACKPOT” TYRONE “PRETTY BOY” JAMES, making his 2019 debut.

TYRONE JAMES SET TO CO-FEATURE FRIDAY NIGHTS ROCKIN’ FIGHTS

New York, July 14, 2019

Undefeated Elmont, Long Island prospect, TYRONE JAMES (9-0 6KO’s) has been making a name for himself in the New York boxing scene since 2016. James may well be the ‘heir apparent’ to the many Star Boxing world contenders and champions developed at the Paramount. James returns to The Paramount next Friday, July 19th against RAY OLIVIERIA JR. (New Bedford, MA 8-2 1KO) in an eight-round co-feature bout. The James-Olivieria bout will precede the main event for the WBC FECARBOX Silver Super Lightweight Championship between fellow Long Islander, DANNY “EL GALLO” GONZALEZ (Woodhaven, NY 17-2-1 7KO’s) and JEROME “THE CONQUEROR” CONQUEST (Philadelphia, PA 10-4 1KO).

James, standing at 5’10”, fighting in the super welterweight division, works behind a stiff jab, using his length to keep his opponents at a distance. While James has a strong ability to box, he has recently found success with his power, leading to a four-fight knockout streak. For all the skill James has in the ring, he doubles in flash outside of it and has steadily built up a big fan base at the “Rockin’ Fights” series that has become synonymous with thrilling boxing.

James says his nickname, “Pretty Boy,” was given to him because, “I always matched in the gym. People would say “he thinks he’s a ‘Pretty Boy,’ he never comes to the gym without matching from head to toe.'” Always seen wearing his signature, “The Jackpot,” sparkled headband, James says that moniker, “The Jackpot,” stems from his “initials, TJ, and a jackpot is three 7’s. Since my birthday is 3/7/91, I thought it was a perfect match.” From that point on, the growing legend of “The Jackpot” Tyrone “Pretty Boy” James was born.

Fighting a lot as a kid in the streets, James says his “father figured [he] could fight and get rewarded for it,” in hopes that, “it would stop [James] from fighting in the street.” The transition to the ring came naturally for James, who comes from a family of athletes. “My uncle was a professional boxer,” said James, “and my dad was a professional football player for the USFL Oklahoma Outlaws.”

After rising the amateur ranks with a record of 95-16, becoming a five-time Junior Olympic champion, and a Nebraska Golden Glove Champion, James turned pro in 2015. Fighting seven of his nine professional bouts at The Paramount, James says, “The Paramount is like a home to me. Every time the fans give me a standing ovation, and even when I have fought at other venues, you can never get The Paramount feel.” Interestingly, Nebraska’s other star, World Champion, and pound for pound great, Terrence Crawford enjoys coming and watching Tyrone James’ fights at the Paramount, to see his friend and fellow amateur standout at the exciting Long Island venue.

Star Boxing CEO JOE DEGUARDIA said: “we have high hopes for Tyrone James. He has charisma outside the ring and tenacity inside the ring and we think he has a bright future”.

As for what fans can expect from him on July 19th, in typical fashion, Tyrone James did not hold back, “an action-packed fight, and a KO. I fight for my fans and always give 110% each and every time.”

STAR BOXING RETURNS TO THE PARAMOUNT FOR “ROCKIN’ FIGHTS” ON JULY 19TH

New York, July 3, 2019

Star Boxing is pleased to announce its return to Long Island, New York, after three months on the road, for another edition of the critically acclaimed “Rockin’ Fights” series on July 19th. Bringing a thrilling, New York centric professional boxing card, with an international flair, has become common place at Star Boxing’s “Rockin’ Fights” series, and July 19th will be no exception.

Returning for his fourth main event and tenth appearance at The Paramount, local favorite, DANNY “EL GALLO” GONZALEZ (Woodhaven, NY 17-2-1 7KO’s) will take on JEROME “THE CONQUEROR” CONQUEST (10-4 1KO) from the fighting city of Philadelphia. Gonzalez returns after impressing boxing experts this past January, when he took former world champion, current title contender and Star Boxing stablemate, CHRIS ALGIERI (Huntington, NY 24-3 9KO’s) the distance in an extremely competitive fight at the mecca of boxing, Madison Square Garden, for the WBO International Super Lightweight Title. The bout solidified Gonzalez as a true prospect. The July 19th bout will be a 10-round super lightweight contest for the WBC FECARBOX Silver Super Lightweight Championship.

Danny Gonzalez had this to say about his return to The Paramount, “I’m extremely excited to be making my well needed ring return. It has been a roller coaster year for me but at the same time I have been blessed to have the right people behind me pushing my career to new heights. I have been training hard as always and have been trying new things in camp to make me a complete fighter and athlete. I feel I’m getting close to finding that perfect recipe for success. It’s always thrilling to return to The Paramount where I remain undefeated. I love the crowd, the energy and the atmosphere is always electric.” Gonzalez continued, “I’m just eager to return to the ring and perform for the fans and give them an all-out action fight from start to finish. It will be a thrilling night. I expect to destroy my opponent and move on in the rankings to bigger and better fights.”

On the undercard, fans will be excited for the return of undefeated super welterweight, “The Jackpot”, TYRONE “PRETTY BOY” JAMES (Elmont, NY 9-0 6KO’s) as he takes on RAY OLIVEIRA JR. (New Bedford, MA 8-2 1KO). James has been out of the ring due to an ankle injury, but emphatically returns for his eighth bout at The Paramount, coming off of one of the most difficult victories of his young career. Facing Leo Carrizzales at “Rockin’ Fights” 33, James peeled himself off the canvas for the first time in his career, to later stop the tough Mexican brawler. This fight will be a 6-round super welterweight bout.

Making his return to the ring is Detroit product, RONNIE “TEFLON RON” AUSTION (Detroit, MI 10-1 6KO’s) as he faces off with DENNIS OKOTH (Silver Spring, MD 3-2-1 2KO’s). Austion, a highly touted prospect fighting out of Las Vegas, took his first loss at Star Boxing’s “Slugfest at the Sun” at Mohegan Sun in January. Austion hopes a win at The Paramount will put him back on track, to continue rising the welterweight rankings. Opposing Austion is Kenyan, Dennis Okoth, who recently earned a massive upset when he knocked out highly rated Irish welterweight Dyaln Moran at Star Boxing’s “Catskills Clash” in Resorts World Catskills. This will be a scheduled 8-round welterweight bout.

Another undefeated rising star is also on the card and will be making his United States debut. Highly touted Dominican Republic bantamweight prospect, JUNIOR “BOMBITA” ALMONTE (Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic 12-0 9KO’s) will throw his first punch in the US at “Rockin’ Fights”. At just 118 pounds, Almonte packs a punch, with a 75% knockout rate. Almonte has fought all twelve of his professional bouts in his home country of the Dominican Republic, earning the Dominican Republic Bantamweight and WBC FECARBOX Bantamweight titles over this span. Almonte is highly rated in the Caribbean. Almonte’s opponent will be announced soon.

In a 4-round super bantamweight bout, JUSTICE BLAND (Brooklyn, NY) will be making his pro-debut against RAFAEL CASTILLO (Bronx, NY 1-2). Bland enters the pro-ranks with a solid amateur background including a record of 30-5, a 2018 New York Metro’s finalist and the 2018 Ring Masters Golden Glove Champion. While this is not the first time that the Brooklyn-Bronx rivalry has battled in the ring at The Paramount, this bout is sure to have the crowd on their feet.

In the opening bout of the evening, JUAN MANCILLA (East Hampton, NY 1-0) will face JERMAINE CORLEY (Mount Vernon, NY 2-6 1KO) in a 4-round super welterweight clash. The undefeated Mancilla is coming off of a three-year layoff, while Corley just recently upset Roberto Duran Jr. on June 28th at Resorts World Catskills in an epic bout that left all of the fans in attendance, in awe.

Star Boxing CEO JOE DEGUARDIA said this about the July 19th “Rockin’ Fights”: “There is no place like home, and that is what The Paramount has become – our home base. Fans will get a true New York boxing card on July 19th, headlined by Danny Gonzalez and fellow Paramount favorite Tyrone James. We are also thrilled to bring exciting Dominican Republic bantamweight prospect Junior Almonte to the States for the first time. “Rockin’ Fights” 35 will be another night to remember at The Paramount. Get your tickets now!”

NOV 30 ROCKIN’ FIGHTS UNDERCARD ANNOUNCED

New York, November 26, 2018

With former World Champion, CHRIS ALGIERI’s (21-3 8KO’S) much anticipated return to the Paramount on November 30th nearing closer, the excitement for STAR BOXING’S “ROCKIN’ FIGHTS” 33 continues to build with the announcement of an electrifying, action-packed undercard. While Algieri will be taking on tough Texan veteran. ANGEL “HITMAN” HERNANDEZ (14-11-2 9KO’S) in his homecoming main-event at The Paramount, a fantastic undercard has turned an already thrilling night of boxing to the next level.

In the co-feature bout, TYRONE “PRETTY BOY” JAMES (8-0 5 KOs) of Elmont, Long Island will be making his seventh appearance at The Paramount as he takes on LEONARDO ESQUIVEL CARRIZALES (5-5 2KOs). This will be an 8-round super welterweight bout.

No stranger to the bright lights and atmosphere of the Paramount, the undefeated Long Island native Tyrone James will be looking to remain so, as he rises through the ranks in the super welterweight division. James’ most recent performance at the Long Island venue was on June 8th of this year, and it ended in superb fashion as he earned a first round TKO victory over Keasen Freeman.

“I love it man. It’s like a home to me now,” said James about fighting at the Paramount. “They brought me in. They love watching me fight. They support me, and I know once that bell rings people will be screaming my name. I love it.”

Undefeated Wyandanch native, TERRELL “THE PROBLEM CHILD” BOSTIC (3-0 1 KO) will be making his return to the ring against up-and-comer OMAR BORDOY (6-0 2KOs). Bostic has fought all of his professional fights at the Paramount and will look to solidify the venue as his home on November 30th. Danbury, Connecticut’s Bordoy will be fighting for the first time in New York as he looks to extend his unblemished record to 7-0. In a battle of the “0’s” only one man will leave The Paramount with an undefeated record intact. This will be a 6-round lightweight tilt

Bellport, Long Island’s ALEX “EL TORRO” VARGAS (1-0) will also be bringing the hometown support with him as he makes his second professional appearance at The Paramount on November 30th. A champion at 165 pounds in the 2013 New York Golden Gloves, Vargas debut fight in September at the Long Island venue was full of excitement. With the energy of the crowd roaring through the place, Vargas marched his way towards a unanimous decision victory. Vargas will be taking on JARILL HAADI (pro-debut) of Rochester, who will be making his pro-debut. This will be a 4-round welterweight bout.

Making their professional boxing debuts will be DASHAUN “TOO SWEET” JOHNS (pro-debut) of the Bronx, NY and Vietnamese martial artist VU VAN HAI (pro-debut). Johns had a successful amateur career with a record of 50-12, winning the 2016 Title National Championship and winning Silver in the 2017 Golden Gloves Championship at 141 pounds. His opponent, Vu Van Hai, is a renowned VoViNam and Muay Thai fighter, boasting a number of achievements such as Imperial Level Three of VoViNam and Taekwondo Bronze Medalist. He will be traveling from Vietnam, his home country, half way around the world, early next week for this fight. This will be a 4-round jr. welterweight bout.

INFO:
Chris Algieri, who was developed at the famed Star Boxing venue, The Paramount, moved to the big stage and had a career defining, real life “Rocky” story unfold on HBO on June 14th, 2014 at the Barclay’s Center, in Brooklyn, against heavily favored and feared Ruslan Provodnikov (then 23-2 16 KO’s) for the WBO World Championship. After peeling himself off the canvas two times in the opening round, Algieri put on the fight of his life. With one eye virtually closed, the gutsy Algieri fought the rest of the fight in brilliant fashion dominating the defending champion Provodnikov to become the new WBO Super Lightweight World Champion*.

The win catapulted the local sensation to international fame. Algieri was awarded a mega-multi-million dollar fight with boxing legend and superstar, Manny Pacquaio. The Pacquiao-Algieri bout took place around the world in Macao, China and was telecast on HBO/Pay Per View. Subsequently, Algieri continued to take the most challenging bouts taking on world class fighters such as Errol Spence Jr and Amir Khan, after the Pacquiao fight.

Algieri decided a couple of months ago that he was ready to make a comeback and re-signed a promotional agreement with his long-time promoter Joe DeGuardia and Star Boxing. The two agreed it was time to return to the roots of Algieri’s career and give back to the loyal Long Island fans. Therefore, on November 30th, after a two-year layoff, Chris Algieri returns home to the place where it all began, The Paramount. Algieri will headline “Rockin’ Fights” 33 as he begins another march towards a World Championship fight.

*Note: Super Lightweight Division is also known as the Junior Welterweight Division and both have a Maximum weight of 140 lbs.
