Barboza Jr. Defeats Catterall By Split Decision to Capture WBO Interim Jr. Welterweight Title

Arnold Barboza Jr. went on the road and was able to win a 12-round split decision over Jack Catterall to win the WBO Interim junior welterweight title in Manchester, England.

It was a close contested fight, but Barboza was able to outwork Catterall, who himself was looking to counter-punch.

Barboza, 139.6 lbs of El Monte, CA won two cards 115-113 and Catterall won a card 115-113.

Barboza is 32-0. Catterall, 140 lbs of Chorley, ENG is 30-2.

Reece Bellotti stopped Michael Gomez Jr. in round one of their 12-rounds super featherweight bout.

In round five, Bellotii dropped Gomez with a hard body shot on a delayed reaction.

In round seven, Bellotti began to bleed over his right eye. Bellotti scored another knockdown and the fight was stopped by the corner of Gomez one second into round 10.

Belloti, 130 lbs of Watford, ENG is 20-5 with 15 knockouts. Gomez, 129.8 lbs of Manchester is 21-2.

Pat McCormack stopped Robbie Davies Jr. after round six of their round welterweight .

In round three, McCormack dropped Davies with a perfect left-right combination. Seconds later, it was a similar selection that put Davies down again before the bell sounded to end the round. Midway through round five, McCormack dropped Davies after a jab to the body was followed by a perfect right on the chin.

After the sixth round, the corner of Davies bowed their man out of the fight.

McCormack, 146.7 lbs of Washington, ENG is 7-0 with six knockouts. Davies, 145.9 lbs of Liverpool is 24-6.

In a battle of former world title challengers, James Dickens won a 10-round unanimous decision over Zelfa Barrett in a super featherweight fight.

Dickens, 129.5 lbs of Liverpool won by scores of 97-93 twice and 96-94 and is now 35-5. Barrett, 129.4 lbs of Manchester is 31-3.

Conner Tudsbury made an explosive pro debut with a second round stoppage over Sadam Mohamed Da Silva Catano in a six-round light heavyweight bout.

In round two, Tudsbury landed a big right that was followed by an uppercut that sent Caetano down the canvas, An unsteady Caetano go to to his feet, but the fight was called off at 2:01.

Tudsbury, 180.2 lbs of Manchester is 1-0 with one knockout. Da Silva Caetano, 179.1 lbs of Belgium is 7-6.

William Crolla remained undefeated with a first round stoppage over Ayloz Zakari in a six-round junior middleweight bout.

Crolla hurt Zakari with a left hook to the had that buckled him back towards the ropes. Crolla jumped on Zakari and landed seven shots and the fight was stopped as the corner waved towel at 2:43.

Crolla, 156.8 lbs of Manchester is now 7-0 with six knockouts. Zakari, 155.6 lbs of Spain is 5-8-1.

Aqib Fiaz stopped Lydon Chirchop in round three of their six-round lightweight bout.

In round two, Fiaz dropped Chirchop with a right to the body. In round three, Fiaz hurt Chirchop then landed four straight uppercuts that forced a stoppage at 2:00.

Fiaz, 135 lbs of Oldham, ENG is 13-1 with two knockouts. Chirchop, 134.8 lbs is 7-3.

Alfie Middlemiss won a four-round decision over Cain Singh in a featherweight bout.

Unbeaten Super-Welterweight prospect William Crolla has signed a long-term promotional deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and will make his debut under the promotional banner on the undercard of Jack Catterall’s blockbuster Super-Lightweight showdown with Regis Prograis at Co-op Live in Manchester on Saturday August 24, shown live worldwide on DAZN

The 25-year-old Mancunian powerhouse, trained and managed by old brother and British fight legend Anthony Crolla, has won all five of his fights – with four of those coming via knockout – since making his professional debut with a points win over Joe Hardy on the undercard of Mauricio Lara vs. Leigh Wood at Manchester Arena in May 2023. 

Training out of the MCROLLA Gym in Oldham, alongside WBO Lightweight World Champion Rhiannon Dixon and former European Super-Lightweight Champion Robbie Davies Jr, Crolla hopes to follow in the footsteps of former WBA Lightweight World Champion ‘Million Dollar’ Crolla by creating his own legacy in Manchester and beyond.

Zelfa Barrett Stops Jordan Gill in 10

Zelfa Barrett boxed very well and then scored a 10th round stoppage over Jordan Gill in a 12-round WBA International Super Featherweight title bout at The AO Arena in Manchester, England.

Barrett used a pinpoint jabs that set up body shots. In round 10, Barrett landed a hard body shot that put Gill to the canvas. Gill was hurt, and Barrett landed hard combinations that forced a referee stoppage at 2:44.

Barrett, 129.6 lbs of Manchester. ENG is 31-2 with 17 knockouts. Gill, 129.5 lbs of Chatteris, ENG is 29-3-1.

Scotney Defeats Lefbvre to become Unified Super Bantamweight Champion

Ellie Scotney retained her IBF and won the WBO Super Bantamweight Title with a 10-round unanimous decision over Segolene Lefbvre.

Scotney, 121.8 lbs of Carford, ENG won by scores of 99-91, 97-93 and 96-94 and is now 9-0. Lefbvre, 119.3 lbs of Douai, FRA is 18-1.

Dixon Decisions Carabajal; Wins Lightweight Title

Rhiannon Dixon won the WBO Lightweight championship with a 10-round unanimous decision over Karen Elizabeth Carabajal.

In round three, Dixon dropped Carabajal with a left hand. Later in the round, Dixon was cut over her right eye due to an accidental clash of heads. Carabajal was cut over her right eye.

Flynn Decisions Maharusi

Jordan Flynn won a six-round decision over Tampela Maharusi in a lightweight bout.

In round three, Maharusi was docked a point for holding.

Flynn, 134.3 lbs of Oxford, ENG won by a 59-54 score and is now 10-0-1. Maharusi, 134.5 lbs of Dar-Es-Salaam, TAN is 10-5-4.

The win by Flynn sets up a showdown with Cameron Vuong. Flynn shoved Vuong in the ring after the fight, and promoter Eddie Hearn said that fight will take place in June.

Gomez Jr. Stops Baker in 6

In a high contact fight, Michael Gomez Jr. stopped Kane Baker in round six of a scheduled 10-round super featherweight bout.

In round three, Baker was cut ever the right eye which looked to be caused by a head clash.

In round six, Gomez dropped Baker with a right hand. With Baker hurt, Gomez landed a hard right that put Baker on his back and the fight was stopped at 36 seconds.

Gomez, 129.1 lbs of Manchester, ENG is 21-1 with six knockouts. Baker, 129.4 lbs of Birmingham, ENG is 19-11-2.

Jack Turner stopped Abdul Kesi Ngaoma in round one of their six-round super flyweight bout.

In round round one, Turner landed a perfect right to the jaw that put Ngaoma on his back and the fight was stopped at 1:14.

Wood Decisions Lara to Re-Claim Featherweight Title

Leigh Wood reclaimed the WBA Featherweight World Title with a 12-round unanimous decision over Mauricio Lara at the AO Arena in Manchester, England.

Lara, who was the champion, lot the belt on the scales in Friday as 3.8 lbs of over the featherweight limit. This was a rematch of a fight that took place on February 18th when Lara knocked out Wood in the seventh round.

In round two, Wood put Lara on the canvas with a right uppercut. Wood suffered a cut over his left eye in round four.

Wood landed 150 of 429 punches; Lara was 76 of 314.

Wood, 125.9 lbs of Nottingham, ENG won by scores of 118-109 twice and 116-111 and is now 27-3. Lara, 129.8 lbs of Mexico City is 26-3-1.

Former world title challenger Jack Catterall won a 10-round unanimous decision over Darragh Foley in a junior welterweight contest.

In round seven, Catterall dropped Foley with a hard right hook. Early in round nine, it was another right that put Foley on the deck.

Dany Ball stopped Jami Robinson at the end of round eight of their scheduled 10-round welterweight bout.

In round two, Ball dropped Robinson with a short right on the inside. Ball jumped on Robinson and hit him with a barrage of punches that caused a bloody nose.

The bout was stopped in Robinson’s corner following the eighth round.
